As my XBMC computer is always on, i would really like to see some kind of picture frame emulator, possibly as a screensaver.

It would be ideal if it was able to pull pictures from a dedicated email address, samba share and maybe random facebook albums from my friends?

I'm not capable of coding something like this myself, but would really appreciate if someone did. I think I'm not the only one that would love something like this!

You mean a slideshow?

Did you try looking at the ScreenSaver options in Settings->Appearance->ScreenSaver?

It can pull pictures from a share.

Yes, I was thinking something similar, except the email and facebook functionality.

The main problem with the slideshow screensaver is that it doesn't update the file list from the slideshow folder while running. IMO it would be alot better if this was possible.

Post a feature request on trac. I agree that updating the folder while running would be nice.

I use a flat LCD monitor on my media server as a digital photoframe for my wall. I think it was TweakUI i used to set up the screensaver to run from the login screen. That way I can still connect to the server using Remote Desktop from my laptop to get my media from the interwebs, rename and file accordingly, and also my xbox can connect to the server via samba shares to play the media, all while the main screen saver runs on the main screen mounted nicely on my wall.
