Updating entries in Database

Hi, this is an split-off of my original request (http://xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=43152).

I'd like to be able to do an update of an existing entry. That is, all metadata that was scraped before should be updated but all 'local' stuff should be kept. In particular the seen-flag should not be deleted! In which way other information is actually marked as local I don't know.
This update should work automatically by just running an appropriate scraper.

I'm sorry, but probably it helps in forcing this issue to higher priority.
What a shame to see this issue is that old but didn't get realized yet. As you write, there are many reasons why the info should be updated instead of newly added.

It's something the devs are very well aware of.
The problem (amongst many other things) as I understand it, there are no SQL experts on the team and the current way of doing things may have dependencies that could have unforeseen effects if not planned and executed correctly.

I am personally hoping for 9.04 inclusion, but I am not holding my breath.
