The BBC have released a MAC compatible desktop downloader:-
BBC iPlayer Desktop
We have created an all new BBC iPlayer Desktop to make downloading even easier. This allows you to watch television programmes offline and store them on your computer for up to 30 days. The good news is that it is now available to Mac and Linux users for the first time.
Getting started
* Sign up to BBC iPlayer Labs. You must be signed into labs at all times to use the service
* Browse the site to find a programme you would like to download
* Click the Download To Computer button (note: some programmes may not be available to download)
* You will then be redirected to the installation page, follow the installation prompts
* Once you have successfully installed the application your programme will commence download automatically
* After joining Labs and installing the application, downloaded programmes will be delivered to the all new BBC iPlayer Desktop. If you wish to continue using the existing Download Manager simply turn off the labs feature. We recommend that you do not uninstall the Download Manager application at this stage until the BBC iPlayer Desktop comes out of beta phase.
This is just the beginning; we will be adding new features over time so watch this space.
Is there anyway of getting this to run on xbmc or standalone. I have used the script that is available for the Iplayer but it runs the lower resolution, the downloaded versions run at a higher resolution
