i was having problems with some of my tags. on a few albums... although the mp3tag program i use was showing the tags as okay... xbmc was reading the information incorrectly. this lead to a couple duplicates. for example:

creedence clearwater revival
and
creedance clearwater revival

in order to correct the issue, i used tidymp3 to remove ALL tag information and then retagged the offending files with mp3tag.

well... the problem is fixed insomuch as i don't have the duplicates now... unfortunately, now xbmc won't read the files at all!!

i just don't get it. EVERY other program i use to open the mp3's is reading the new tags just fine. what am i doing wrong in xbmc?? how do i fix this??

btw... the offending files are tagged with APE, ID3v2, and ID3v1 so nothing is missing in that regard.

also, if i navigate to the album in files view and try to add, nothing happens.

Supply an example file.

Sure thing. Just to make sure I don't post a prohibited file, you mean to post one of the tagged mp3s right?

Correct - one of the files that is not displaying the tag correctly.

okay. here it is. it's the smallest one... still 3 megs though. for the record (in case the riaa is listening... LOL) i'd request the mods to pull this attachment once the issue is figured out.

thanks!

MOD EDIT: Thanks - file received.

The id3 tags in this track were read fine by XBMC.

hmmm.... what might be the reason my install isn't picking it up? i'm wondering if the info is cached somewhere i'm not aware of. should the .db file be the only thing i have to delete?

I suspect it can't read the files fullstop, due to file permissions over the network, but that's just a guess.

And yes, if you've removed the MyMusic*.db file, there's nothing else around.

i'm not sure what the means. it reads 99% of the files fine. is there something i could try with these few files to make them work?
