Here are the issues I have with XBMC for ATV, I Don't know if these differences are due to limitations of the Apple TV Hardware, or just because of XBMC for ATV being so new. Please correct me if there is a solution to these issues.
1.) Only works with Apple remote has limited functionality 6 buttons + 6 hold button functions. (A huge disappointment - my only real drawback)
2.) attachable DVD Drive (would be great)
3.) Can't play most HD Contact over 720p ( I can live without this feature if other issues were fixed.
4.) on reboot/startup ATV should auto load XBMC (no biggie)
Aside from above issues, I think appleTV would be a great platform for XBMC or Boxee, Although xbox is only $50, getting this sleek & quiet unit (with HDMI) is a great replacement.
That being said I need advise on any Alternative small Boxes that run XBMC Live well so i can ditch my xbox.
I need it to use component out because, Unfortunately all the candidate PC's I see out there don't carry audio on the HDMI cable and therefore I cant use a HDMI switcherbox with my other divices (Tivo HD & Xbox 360) so I plan on using a component switchbox (Red Blue Green + Red & White) and I cant seem to find a box that has Component out.
