I have a following comp:

Mobo: Gibabyte P35DS3L
Proc: E6750 (3.0 Ghz 4mb cache core 2 duo) + 4gb ram
Video: PNY 8600GT 256mb Dual DVI
Audio: Coxial/Sp-DIF on board ALC888

I have this computer currently connected to a regular monitor.

I plan on using the second DVI port to connect to my Panasonic Viera 720p 42" TV sitting in the other room.

Buying 35 ft DVI-HDMI wire at monoprice. LINK (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10231&cs_id=1023102&p_id=2753&seq=1&format=2)

Buying 35 ft optical TOS cable for audio. LINK (http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10229&cs_id=1022901&p_id=2831&seq=1&format=2)

and plan on getting an active USB extension cable to get a usb port out to the living room so I can hook up the MCE remote.

All reviews on monoprice say these wires work well despite their long lenght. Can anyone second that? Does this seem like a sound setup?

I didn't get DVI-->HDMI switch and then a long HDMI wire cause my card can't carry any audio over HDMI anyways....plus I figured the more hardware I have in the way the more places things can go wrong. Any advantage to a DVI-HDMI switch +long HDMI cable over just using a straight DVI-->HDMI cable. Thanks a lot of your help/input.

Monoprice is a great vendor. I have purchased many items from them including a 25' optical and an equal length HDMI cable. Don't let the prices scare you. You can also check out bluejeanscable.com.

Go for it-
