My Xbox-based XBMC machine has been a great living room game machine, with NES, SNES and Sega games being the hits of many parties. I've now moved up to an Ubuntu-based box running XBMC and MythTV and would like to load this up with the same emulators.

I tried copying mednafenx over to my Ubuntu box but XBMC can't access it the same way as it did on the Xbox. Are these emulators supported & I'm doing it wrong, or is there a new set of emulators I should be using? My searches thus far haven't been very fruitful.

Emulators written for xbox will only work on xbox.
There are plenty of good emulators for windows based machines but not sure about Linux or mac.

Check these sites:http://www.usinglinux.org/emulators/ for Linux, http://www.emulator-zone.com/doc.php/mac/ for mac

Thanks but I'm looking for emulators specifically for XBMC. It was so easy to use them on the Xbox, just go to the programs section and launch from there. I thought that since XBMC had been ported, if the codebase was the same then the Xbox-based emulators would either work natively or be relatively easy to port.

I could always go with MythGame (http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Configuring_MythGame_Emulation) I suppose, if emulation is no longer there for XBMC.

I have used plenty of emulators with ubuntu. Can some one explain how you would go about launching them from within xbmc?

Search the forums for the ambiguously named plugin "launcher". Have fun, blame the author :)
