View Full Version : Shoutcast gives genres, but no stations.

I'm running xbmc on Ubuntu 8.04 installed via apt-get from the standard xbmc repository. I try to add a Music source, select Shoutcast, am presented with the long list of genres, however, no genre contains any stations. All are empty.
After perusing the log file, it seems that libcurl connects to shoutcast correctly once (to retrieve the genres?) but the xbmc log claims the connection "...seems to be dead..." when trying to retrieve stations. What gives? The log file is indicated below...

This is happening to me as well.
Earlier today, anything in http://classic.shoutcast.com/sbin/ was throwing a 403 error.
Tonight, it's loading, but I'm still not getting any stations. Viewing the xbmc.log file, I see that it's going to http://classic.shoutcast.com/sbin/newxml.phtml?genre=World -- this page loads fine and is full of content in a browser, but in XBMC it's still coming back blank...
I just tested, it is working fine in my XBMC.
I am using latest SVN.
I'm having this exact same issue. No channels coming up for any station. Ubuntu 8.04
Here's my xbmc log. I'd appreciate any help. Thank you in advance.

Looking at the log I see this line:
11:01:51 T:3056523136 M:1161773056 DEBUG: Alloc resources: 0.05ms (0.01 ms skin load, 0.03 ms preload)

11:01:51 T:3056523136 M:1161773056 DEBUG: Curl:: Debug Closing connection #0
I see this mentioned on the forums, and am searching threads but to no avail yet.
Update your XBMC to a newer build. Too old to help.
Im having a similar problem. But for some reason its only when I use the PM3 HD skin, switch to Aeon or xTV & the stations show up. I couldn't even add a new genre until I changed the skin.
Funny you should say that Peevy. Before I had one station that worked because I had it in my favorites. That was before I started using the MediaStream skin. It still worked in MediaStream, but only that one. I added it when I was using the default xbmc skin.
I did try to add a station from the xbmc stock skin, but still no luck.
If I can fix it instead of updating xbmc I'd be happy. Everything is running perfect on my box right now.
I use the Aeon skin alot Franjo & it seems to work flawlessly while adding Genres or selecting stations
Peevy, thanks for the advice. I will install Aeon, see if I can add stations to my favorites, then have it work in Mediastream. Again, thanks for the workaround...I'll reply and post the results.
No luck using Aeon skin. I downloaded the new .91 Stark skin. Still no stations. Awesome looking skin though.

Franjo,
When you are the screen to add a Source and you browse, you will be presented with the list of genres. Choose one (you will see no stations at this point), then 'Ok' (if I remember correctly). It will have that genre added as a source.. then you can either add more genres to the same source, or just 'Ok' out of it.
Now when you choose the source, you should see the stations.
Let me know if that works.
