SFTP Transfer speeds

Is anyone else sick of the 3-4 mbps transfer speeds that SFTP gives ... Any alternative options ...

You should see higher transfer rates than that with modern hardware. On a 100Mbit link, you should be seeing 6-9MB/s. With a gigabit link, you should see around 40MB/s.

Otherwise, try NFSv3 or FTP on a trusted network. NFSv4 with Kerberos (for integrity and/or privacy) or SMB on an untrusted network.
