this issue drives me insane..
i've checked out windll-patched build from ikons (16226) versus latest svn (16496) on vista.
1st scenario: 16226 on 1280x720
no matter how i start it - with or without -fs switch - it always fires up on my pc monitor (1) in full screen. tv goes blank. with -fs switch i can switch back to windowed mode by pressing "\", move over the window to tv and press "\" again to get it full sized on tv. but this also renders pc monitor resolution down to 1280x720 - unacceptable.
2nd scenario: 16226 on 1360x768
same behaviour for starting up. also with -fs switch used i can go back to windowed mode and move it over to tv. this time, i hit "\" once which changes xbmc to open on complete tv screen (and renders my pc monitor down to 1360x768), and a second hit on "\" gives me the perfect behaviour - monitor is at 1680x1050, tv is at 1360x768 showing off xbmc on full screen.
3rd scenario: 16226 on 1280x720 using xbmclaunch.exe
using this tiny little app with parms:
Xbmc Path: C:\Program Files (x86)\XBMC\XBMC.exe
Monitor nr: Display 2, 1280 x 720
Xbmc Resolution: 1280x720
it starts up xbmc in fullscreen on pc monitor, tv goes blank. windows mouse pointer is still visible. if i click into the window, xbmc moves to tv screen, pc monitor screen gets resised to 1280x720, too.
4th scenario: 16226 on 720p 16:9 using xbmclaunch.exe
same parameters as above, except Xbmc Resolution is set to 720p 16:9.
xbmc renders a window on pc monitor for a second, then it moves flawlessly to tv screen. pc monitor does not get resized anymore. but on tv it seems the whole display moved down a bit and gets smaller, too. looks like the aspect ratio got changed somehow, since i can see a bigger black line on top and a small one on bottom. i can move it a bit by using my tv's remote to change vertical position of the picture, but xbmc does not use the full screen of my tv anymore.
5th scenario: 16226 on 1360x768 using xbmclaunch.exe
Xbmc Path: C:\Program Files (x86)\XBMC\XBMC.exe
Monitor nr: Display 2, 1360 x 768
Xbmc Resolution: 1360x768
it starts up xbmc in fullscreen on pc monitor, tv goes blank. windows mouse pointer is still visible. if i click into the window, xbmc moves to tv screen, pc monitor screen gets resised to 1360x768, too.
================================================== =======
6th scenario: 16496 on 1280x720 @ 60hz
without -fs switch, it starts windowed on pc screen as supposed to. now i move it over to tv screen and hit "\" once. my pc screen got resized to 1280x720 when doing this. also on tv i got nearly the same behaviour as on 4th scenario: picture seems to get a bit smaller than it should and moved downwards.
7th scenario: 14696 on 1360x768 @ 60hz
without -fs switch, it starts windowed on pc screen as supposed to. now i move it over to tv screen and hit "\" once.my pc screen got resized to 1360x768 when doing this. also on tv i got the same behaviour as on 6th scenario: picture seems to get a bit smaller than it should and moved downwards.
8th scenario: 14696 on 1280x720 @ 60hz using xbmclaunch.exe
xbmc renders a window on pc monitor for a second, then it moves flawlessly to tv screen. pc monitor does not get resized anymore. but on tv it seems the whole display moved down a more than just a bit. looks like the aspect ratio got changed somehow, since i can see a big black line on top. i can move it a bit by using my tv's remote to change vertical position of the picture, but xbmc does not use the full screen of my tv anymore. i cannot even see the shutdown button of default skin pm3 hd. last i can see on tv is the rss feed scrolling through the screen.
9th scenario: 14696 on 1360x768 @ 60hz using xbmclaunch.exe
xbmc renders a window on pc monitor for a second, then it moves flawlessly to tv screen. pc monitor does not get resized anymore. but on tv it seems the whole display moved down a bit and gets smaller, too. this time i can see the shutdown button of the default screen, but it's even not displayed completely. this occurs to both 1360x768@60hz entries in the list.
================================================== =======
so, as a conclusion i can say: so far the only solution that works for me right now is the 2nd scenario. this won't give your app a high WAT (wife acceptance test) score for sure..
Needless to say switching to win xp gets THIS problem fixed, but brings up another one (http://xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=41719)..
i'd really, really like to get this issue fixed.. ask me to post logs, where neccessary.
thanks for reading.
