View Full Version : It would be awesome if their was a stream site like pirate city but exclusive 4 XMBC!
I have played around with the pirate city plug in and that is awesome. But wouldn't it be cool if someone had the time and resources to create a site just like the pirate city but exclusively for xbmc. This way the site wouldn't have to use flash as it could use the built in codecs of xbmc. The site could have really high quality streaming movies like those 2CD xvid dvdrips with ac3 5.1 sound. cover art, fan art, backgrounds, movie info imdb rating, cast info, run time etc
A site like this would require probably some form of advertising but if someone created a xbmc plug in as well to work for the site then the plug in could display text and banner ads while the movies buffer. This would be awesome.
I do not condone to piracy, of course I don't actually use pirate city. I just played around with it and then deleted it. But I am sure many others use it.

to add to this, once xbmc has a dvd ripper built in you could then rip your dvd's to h.264 to save as much space as possible keeping the ac3 5.1 sound or DTS. Or converting to AAC 5.1. AAC 5.1 will be good as well for when xbmc support DTS/AAC to dolby digital 5.1 real time encoding like the plex player which is a fork of xbmc that already supports this feature. Another cool feature would be to create a upload utility built into a future plug in that would then allow the user who just made a dvd rip to upload from within xbmc directly to the stream site. This way the streaming site would suddenly become this open source community streaming site. It would certainly allow the site to grow very quickly. What do you think?
I just found out that tht tvdash plugin get's divx movie streams in xbmc and tvdash get their movies from stagevu. I checked out the stagevu site and they have loads of dvdrips all in divx. Their divx web player support ac3 5.1 sound and aac 5.1 sound. Now if somone could integrate stagevu movies with imdb info and cover art into xbmc that would be awesome. Most of the work is already done.
Is anyone up for doing this?
What's cool about stagevu is any user can upload their movie collection to the site, so if you got some 1 or 2 CD dvd rips in divx or (xvid you can convert to divx) with ac3 5.1 sound then please up load them to stagevu.

We aren't gunning for the "Most likely to be ambiguously accused of copyright infringement" nor the "Most likely to get its end users sued" SCCA titles. These sites are illegal and don't last long enough to be worth putting time into anything more than a plugin or script. Not to mention the quality of the videos is _terrible_.
lol, and once uploaded to stageVu their servers will cry under the strain and take 5mins to load , then buffer the video constantly when streaming......
Unlucky Slippy, the best you could hope for is a site that scrapes videos from every source and collates them in order of server speed,reliability and quality.
My plugins can do that, just copy the code and get cracking.

We aren't gunning for the "Most likely to be ambiguously accused of copyright infringement" nor the "Most likely to get its end users sued" SCCA titles. Look at stagevu they have streaming divx, I checked out I am Legend and that movie had insane quality, it looked 99 percent as good as any 2 CD dvdrips that are on the scene. Of course it's not as good as the retail dvd I have of the movie. But it can be made better.

I got an 8 meg connection and I have run a speed test while streaming one movie and it only takes up 1.2-1.5 megs of my bandwidth. The time it takes to buffer I am legend is about 25 seconds and then are absolutely no pauses throughout the entire movie. I was able to jump forward and backwards, rewind and fast forward all while the movie was loaded and it played flawlessly. Now this and xbmc is totally worth it.
This is awesome tvdash have updated their site and the changes occur automatically in the plugin. Now the quality of the cover art has been improved so much. Having all the cover art in wall mode in horizon skin is amazing. I am just waiting till they add more divx movies. Perhaps we could get them to make a divx section on their site.
What would be cooler is if XBMC actually used that nifty webserver to list an index of your video/music folders and have some kind of tracker that would announce it's self to the community...
