Hi,

I was having problems streaming a network drive using the samba client in XBMC where the video just stops after 20 minutes. I instead tried mapping a drive in windows and using that as a source in XBMC. Results were better but video still quits, this time after 40 minutes. I'm certain the problem is because I'm using Wifi. My question is about the cache settings.

If I used a mapped drive as a source, does XBMC see it as a local drive or does it still know it's a network drive? Just making sure which cache I should be fiddling with.

Thanks!

Well to test your theory try plugging your XBMC pc into your router with standard cable and see if the problem persists. Just as a thought to try to identify your issue.

If it is indeed your wifi then you have other issues that the cache might not fix as the amount of data should not be saturating your connection unless your playing HD or have a VERY outdated wifi setup. In either case ditch and upgrade.

Also what version of XBMC are you running? If you haven't tried one of the latest svns....try one. Wiso has changed a few things relating to the SMB issues.
