Here are the components I have come up with based on all of my reading on this forum. I will be integrating my htpc into my existing home theater which uses a Harmon Kardon AVR347 receiver outputing HDMI to my Panasonic AX-200U projector. As the projector is only 720p I really don't have a need for 1080. So my thoughts are to build an htpc and move my 300+ DVD's to disk. I am going to burn the straight as iso (space is not an issue). Thoughts on this configuration appreciated:
ASUS M3N78-EM AM2+/AM2 NVIDIA GeForce 8300 HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 X2 5600+ Brisbane 2.9GHz 2 x 512KB L2 Cache Socket AM2 65W Dual-Core Processor
OCZ 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory
My intention is to run HDMI out from the mobo into my receiver and let the receiver do the rest. I will likely run this on XP Pro as I already have license.
