i have two xboxes, and one of them plays audio cd's fine, the other stops and stutters.
they were both running 31 may 2004 build, but as i was getting the stop starting noise i upgraded it to 06 06 04.
this hasn't resolved the issue.
i am using the mediacentre skin.
the high quality audio options are set to off.
i just sold my stereo so and have ordered a new amp and speakers so i really want it to play audio cds.
it has in the past worked perfectly. mp3 files don't exhibit any playback problems. they are fine.
aaaaaah!
cheers

bizarrely the xbox that wont play the audio cds just played a track from an old orb album fine
but it wouldnt play anything from a couple of new cds (supergrass and charlatans) and wouldnt play the birds britney single.
now i am really perplexed.
possibly copy protection schemes on the disc?

i have cleaned it but no difference.

i'm not sure, but can be the brand of your drive, some samsung drives has more facility to play all kind of medias.
take a look at the brand of the both drives. maybe the problem is here!

yeh my thoughts are its the drive inside the xbox
arse!
nevermind, i will move the xboxes around
i am having the same problem also..... http://www.xboxmediaplayer.de/forums/non-cgi/emoticons/cry.gif
like the dude up ^ there says, some cd's work fine and some dont. on the problematic cd's i can usually get between 4 to 7 seconds of playback before the chopping and skipping begins (similar to the sound u get when your pc drives are experiencing read/cache errors) and then i have to eject the cd to unfreeze xbmc to continue. me being the natural troubleshooter that i am, i immedieately sifted through xbmc settings and came across a cache menu . could this have anything to do with it? (i didnt want to change anything until i knew for sure this would help). i have a v1.1 xbox with the thomson drive <-(another mabey). the problem could be drive related or what not (cant really say that either since the same cds in question play fine in the default msdash.)
