[XBOX] scripts exit on newer builds?

Hi all,

I've upgraded my xbox this weekend from an old nov2007 build to a newer one and all went OK except for my scripts.

For some reason certain scripts don't work anymore, use the latest version but scirpts like Torrent-X, G4TV, Revision3 or even Apple's Movie Trailers stopped working?

Tried several builds (T3CH, PIMPED) and skins (PMIII? Mediastream, xTV) but all with the same result, treid a fresh install without copying my Userdata but still no luck.

I don't think these scripts are obsolete because it's the latest versions and they also come with the PIMPED build pre-ionstalled.

Could it be that there is some cache outside of the xbmc dir that needs a cleanup? One should think that a reboot would handle such a problem but I'm not sure here.

Anyway I would hate to downgrade back to my 2007 backup because I (and even my g/f) really like the fanart feature but those scripts are really essential to me...

I have a log from my test build wich was comiled today so it can't get much newer than this ;)

Can someone please point out what is causing this behaviour??

Hi,

Im no expert by any stretch of the imagination, but looking through your log
would suggest to me that you are not receiving an internet connection to the xbox. Can you confirm this?

no, the DNS error is just a coinsidence and has nothing todo with those errors, Revision3 for example should even start without a working DNS but would complain that it couldn't fetch the RSS feeds.

PS Are you able to run these scripts on a recent build?

I know that G4TV works for me, but I had to alter it slightly. I addressed it in a different post, so I'll just paste that here. I don't know if it will work with all of your other scripts, but I had to get my G4TV fix and I know that one works.

I used to use this script quite often, but it doesn't work for me anymore. I am using the build from sept 19, 2008 and have uninstalled it and reinstalled it via XBMCScripts several times. I am getting this error:

I realized that it was looking for a directory that wasn't there. I opened up the default.py in PSPad (really any text editor should work) and saw this:

ROOT_DIR = os.getcwd()[:-1]+'\\'

Then I remembered reading the ABC TV Script thread from a short while back and applied bonuswavepilot's method of changing that line to:

ROOT_DIR = os.getcwd()+'\\'

which has fixed the script for me. I don't know how many scripts have this same problem, but it's worth checking if a script suddenly stops working with the newer builds. Hopefully this helps someone else experiencing the same problem.

Hi,

The reason why your old scripts don't work anymore is since Atlantis (actually the beta versions just before), XBMC Python module has been updated. Changes are not very important but enough to break some scripts especially when they need to know the current path, or script using WindowXML.

The good new is all the new script follow the new format, not the old one, so it is better to change to the last version of XBMC.

got G4TV and Revison3 (v19) up and running again with editing the root_dir variable in default.py

torrent-x doesn't use the same syntax so that one is still dead but 2 out of 3 is really nice :)

Are there any other azureus frontends that work on Atlantis?
