Hi
Has anyone managed to get origen VFD display to show any relevent information regarding what XBMC is playing.
Display unit is VF210 using irtrans for remote. (display unit built into origen S10V case)

Have you found any way yet? I have the exact same case, and I'm also interested in if this would be possible. I currently use Vista 64, but I'm going to try the linux versions just to see if drivers have been included there (doubt it though) :P

any news?
would like to help, if needed, desired :)
i tried to rewrite the imon vfd display program to send info to the irtrans server (using lcdsmartie driver as irtrans doesn't have any vfd api) but went nowhere

dies anyone know of some public interface to this hardware?

@sesam
my system was fully working under linux with vfd and remote and everything (using irserver fork for lcdproc)... only thing that made me switch to xp was hdmi audio (not present under linux for my hardware)

Hi
Private msg your email and I will send you a modified ver of xbmc and a plugin for lcdsmartie.
Was hoping for a plugin that would work like lcdproc on linux but just dont have the skills to do it myself :(

I never did get that far, because I had to give up on Linux as there were no drivers available for all my hardware :(

Hi,

I have the Origen ae S14v with the Philips RC197 remote and the IR220 VFD/IR Module. Did you manage to get the remote to work with the XBMC? I've installed XBMCLive and the only thing that doesn't work is the remote. And I have no clue how to bring the remote to life, cause i'm new in the linux-world.

The remote works ok and the display shows most of the information that I want but this is under windows, Linux never really worked for me ...Need to do too much stuff after linux is installed.

In windows everything works fine. I unfortunately had to give up on Linux too, because the Live CD does not work on my system. And installing Ubuntu manually was a real pain on my system, lack of drivers (Raid controller, Bluetooth, Wifi, graphics etc..) made it hours if not days of work, and I did not dare to trust the linux drivers screwing with my RAID array.

Although I do know that is is possible to get the remote working in linux, some others have succeeded. As far as I know IRTrans also makes linux drivers .
