Probably due to either a non-32bit display or old windows opengl drivers (graphics drivers).

Whats a non-32bit display?the graphics cards are builtin but it is an older machine and card. Is there anything i can do about it?

32bit color depth, it's on the same dialog as resolution in windows IIRC (been awhile). If your gfx chip isn't made by intel, ati or nvidia, you're probably SoL. If it is, you need to go to their site and get the latest driver for your card.

I window message would popup if the required bit rate isn't met. This is before calling the sdl stuff (xbmc_pc.cpp).
