Running XBMC on Ubuntu 8.1

Hello

I have problem running this software.
The GUI sometimes stuck or play movies in high speed.
I changed the display setting effects to none.
I read that the pulseaudio should be stop.
Can you give me instruction how to stop/disable it?
Do i need to do anything else?

stopping pulse should do it.

try sudo killall pulseaudio (this will only disable it temporarily). also, search, there are several of threads on this
