Periodic FPS slowdown

Hey guys, Im getting periodic slowdowns on XBMC every 20 seconds or so which are noticeable while watching videos. If I keep advanced info screen where it shows the fps I can see the fps drop to 20 or so (from 24) and instantly come back 24. The problem is much more noticable in divx/xvid playback than on h264. Cpu utilization while playing divx is 15% so there is plenty cpu power left.

Also I have removed pulseaudio according to instuctions from the ubuntu forums to elimanate the lockup while seeking/fwd/rew problem and forced vsync on the ATI Control Center/XBMC to eliminate tearing.

My System Info: Ubuntu Intrepid / ATI Radeon 9550 with 8.54.3 drivers / XBMC 8.10

were you able to fix this issue? i'm experiencing the same after updating my ati driver and fixing vsync.
