I've set the "Shutdown Auto Timeout" to "OFF" but it still turns off after a few hours.
Thought it was some other activity timeout, but noticed a couple of times it shutoff right in the middle of a song.
Any idea what might cause this?

Xbox powers itself off if the CPU or GPU reach a certain threshold. Might try searching xbox-scene for more info.

Certain temperature thresshold, I assume? I wondered about that, too, and watched the status page, but have never caught it before it quits.
I suppose I could test it with a hairdryer on low.
I don't think my 1.6 xbox does this.
probably a better idea to whip it appart give it a good clean and dust out, then re-grease the CPU/GPU with some decent thermal compound than truying to fry it with a hairdryer ??? ;)
