I looked back through 4 weeks of posts and did not see a similar problem. When I pop in a DVD XBMC loads up the main menu screen and says it is buffering, but the program makes no progress. When I finally press cancel the program freezes.

I have the exact same problem. Here are my specs

2.40 Celeron
3 Gb of ram
Intel extreme graphics (intergrated)

What could it be? I know these specs aren't amazing, but how hard is it to play a dvd?

while we are on the subject of dvd playback, i tried a few dvd movies the other day for the first time in xbmc, and the intro video sequence seems to play fine, but when that finishes and it should wait for you to select an option, xbmc closes video playback and returns to xbmc menus.

i can defo reproduce this, if needed i can produce a log.

regards,
Dam0

Try this:

Go into Settings, Video, Player and then check the box for "Attemt to skip introduction before DVD menu".

Ya thanks that worked!

Question though, I would really like to have that feature. Is this a known bug?

Yes, they know about it and it should be solved soon as we're getting closer to a final release of XBMC.

What do we know? Can't follow here
When the buffering dialog won't disappear press X to stop playing this solved it for me but it rarely occurs to me.

My bad. I thought I read something somewhere that someone knew about this. ;)

Perhaps this isn't even a common error, what would I know. I never play DVD's anyway.

Yeah it's rarely used and when tested it works fine for me most of the time.

Well, it never worked for me. And if I click on cancel it SHOULD cancel. And not freeze. I can't play any dvd with this feature enabled :(

I think that is considered a bug.

That did the trick! Thank you very much!
