I have XBMC running on Ubuntu Hardy, but I wanted to try XBMC Live on a USB stick for that STB feel. I was able to boot beta 1 from the USB stick but only got the black screen some other ATI users have been complaining about. Before I could examine some workarounds beta 2 came so I moved on to that.

I manage to install it to the thumbdrive (4 GB Sandisk Cruizer) but if I try to boot from it I get "Could not find kernel image: linux". This would imply that the syslinux.cfg file is corrupt in some way but I have no idea in what way.

The computer I'm running on has a 80 GB SATA drive split into two partitions, one Windows and one with Ubuntu. It's a Shuttle X100 and the bios doesn't seem to offer many options regarding USB HD handling other than the thumbdrive showing up in the boot order config.

Is there a way to get more detailed output from the boot to see why it won't use syslinux.cfg?
