Hi.

I've installed XBMC on my Ubuntu 8.04 machine but I'm having a problem playing videos as the videos are played at double speed!!! Checked all the configs and there is nothing there, but the reality is that when I play a video it plays at double speed, like in fast forward! Don't know if this is a bug of XBMC or not!

Anyone else with this problem? My hardware is a Athlon 64 x2 4200+, 2Gb Ram, 250Gb HD, ATI Radeon 3450 in a Nox Media case with a iMon Pad remote that is not working, but that's another story and now I want to solve this video playing thing.

Thanks,
Mike

I had a similar problem on my eee pc which is running intrepid.

The videos would play fast and there was no sound. It turned out to be a pulseaudio issue. If I manually stared pulseaudio:

pulseaudio -D

it then worked. I then had a problem with pulseaudio crashing when I stoped a video. I eventually removed pulseaudio altogether and it is now working fine.

I have the same problem with playing some avi files encoded with "XviD 1.0.3".

Newer versions of XviD work fine.

Booting from the Live CD, everything plays OK.

Wonder if it could have something to do with the 64-bit version.

I will be tying the 32-bit install this weekend.

I seem to be having similar issues with DVD playback on Fedora 8. I tried the pulseaudio suggestion above with no luck. Anyone experience similar issues?
