Check my signature for what you need.

Actually, your video card is probably too weak. In fact, your system may be too weak.

I believe your card only has opengl v1.2. Check our docs for what we require for XBMC.

Hmm.. Not sure then.. The log indicates no hang or crash... In fact, it shows you exiting XBMC.

sorry for my clumsy help asking i normally kind a figure it out. I would be really a shame if it's the hardware. They don't sell new graphic cards in my country

Be patient. Maybe somebody will help you.

Otherwise, just search the forums and see if anybody else has run into a similar issue.

Maybe try upgrading your drivers. They seem pretty old.

Another suggestion is to try xbmc live. See if that makes a difference.

i'll try that

i believe white screen on stop is a known issue with older nvidia cards. the work around for now is to use the next button instead of stop to stop a video.

Yep I figured that out, but it's still annoying. Thanx.

Now I just have to go out finding a graphic card that's worth called one.

Thanx

I have that same problem, and it is the card because my computer specs are different but the graphics card is the same, running ubuntu 8.04.
I still have not found it annoying enough to justify purchasing a new card, but someday I will.

So, only when you stop the movie, it goes white? What about when you pause playback? It might be related to a corner case of a texture unit not being reactivated or something.

Hmm...might there be a resolution change? I noticed when I play a video full screen in osx, when it ends, it goes back to windowed mode (beta2).

hi

Just to add that i also have the exact same problem (stop makes the screen go white...) but it once and a while not 100% of the time.

Im using ubuntu 8.04, an nvidia fx5200, atlantis beta 2 (i think thats the name..installed through the PPA)

would be happy to help if any other info is needed

this is a known issue with the old school nvidia cards. Upgrade to something that supports open gl 2.0 and that should salve your issues. I have a 5200 and a 5500 that do the same thing.

The FX series was introduced in 2003, so they are a bit dated. However, they should be able to run most features of XBMC without any hassle. The white screen issue sounds like a bug in XBMC.

It sounds like this issue here (http://xbmc.org/trac/ticket/4815), reported by Topfs2. If it is, please comment in the ticket describing in detail how to reproduce the issue and what exactly happens. Also attach a debug log.
