hi, i'm sorry if this has been mentioned before already, but i'm having problems with playing certain xvid movies in the latest xbmc. after about 60-75 seconds of playing the screen freezes while sound keeps playing normally. as for now this problem only occurs with 2 1cd rips that i have and not with all xvid encodes. i'm not sure if this is an xbmc bug, mplayer bug or a relax ??? bug, but i'd like to see it fixed off course http://www.xboxmediaplayer.de/forums/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif
using: xbmc 15-11, relax 0.76 pre (xns).
ps. i've also tried using the gspot tool for identifying opendml avi's, but i couldn't see any difference between the working movies and the freezing ones.
thanks in advance for helping me out.
could you try playing the movie using mplayer (for windows) ?
you can download mplayer for windows :here (http://www.mplayerhq.hu/mplayer/releases/win32-beta/)
also try if playing this movie from the xbox hd/ relax / xbms helps. there are some known problems with smb support in xbmc/xbmp

hi, i tried playing both movies with mplayer and they didn't freeze, so everything's alright when playing on pc. i also tried playing them on xbmc from dvd-r and after 60-75 seconds the video freezes again, dvd starts reading intensively and sound starts to stutter as well.
by the looks of it, this doesn't seem to be server/mplayer-related, but xbmc :(
if you want me to do more tests please let me know.
try copying it to the xbox hd and then playing it from the xbox hd.

still freezing :( any suggestions?
sounds like a bug then.
i could try 2 update the xvid codec, see if that helps

would be nice to see it fixed some day... it's pretty odd that the movies don't freeze on the pc build as well.
wild guess: perhaps the audio-stream (mp3 vbr) is causing the problem and not the video-stream ???
ok, gonna update xbmc to use xvid 0.9.2
this is the latest official xvid release.
hopefully fixes your problem

thanks for the effort, but unfortunately, i still have the same problems with the 23-11 cvs.
i removed the audio stream from one of the avi and guess what: no more freezing. this means i was wrong about it being an xvid issue. there seems to be a problem with the xbmc mp3 decoder/codec that keeps certain mp3 vbr streams from playing properly.
