First all, great job!

My question (sadly probably I know the answer) is: 720p H264 is wachable in AppleTV?

Any chance to get nvidia acceleration support in a near future?

Thanks

High profile, might not be possible. But it's not "Game Over" yet, still looking into possibilities.

nvidia acceleration of h.264 only exists on Windows under PureVideo. So depends if these abilities become available under OSX or Linux.

That sounds good. All our hope is in your hands :) Hoppefully DVD acceleration reverse-engeenering will happens again in H264. If Nvidia some day opens his drivers to the community, it will be easier.

It is frequently posted that the appleTV is not powerful enough to play back 720p or higher video. Is this really accurate?

What is the video quality used by apple HD rentals? (Presumably this is achieved using the Nvidia hardware acceleration)?

Why can't Nvidia hardware acceleration be used by third party developers?

I don't have any problem playing back "scene encoded" 720p material that has been optimized for quick download.

If it has been optimised for quick download then that means it has a reduced data rate and therefore lower quality (more compression artifacts).

The discussion here is on high profile video (high data rate).

I have issues playing "scene encoded" 720p on my ATV. Most of the movies doesn't work, but some few do work.

Playback success probably depends largely on the data rate when software decoding is being used.
