Hi,

i just reinstalled my htpc and have many problems regarding "tearing/vsync" with my ati 2400HD.

Do i have no/less problems when buying a low cost (passive cooled) nvidia card ?

I could sell the ati on ebay and buy a new nvidia today.

just want to get rid of that problems.

thnx in advance

whilst i only have a 60hz television and therefore suffer from the 3:2 pulldown problem, i dont experience any bad tearing or vsync issues

i use and recommend a passive-cooled nvidia 8500GT (has a small fan but nothing to write home about) - got it dirt cheap as its not a powerful card... i basically only wanted something with a dvi port on it for my dvi to hdmi cable

it's not a full length card, and doesnt require its own 6 pin power cable from the psu either

Better yet, try to find this one: http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=proddesc&maincat_no=130&cat2_no=136&prod_no=1258

It's fully passive, got HDMI and supports all HW acceleration for video. (handy, if and when available in XBMC)
