Dear people from support team.

Just to inform you.
I downloaded XBMC-Live.
I burned the ISO on CD. (with NERO)
I booted from this CD.
In the menu I selected AMD/ATI system (#2)
The programm started to touch my raid 1 boot drives and destroyed the raid1.
It created a single drive out of 1 part of my raid 1.
My system:
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H with onboard SATA Raid controller.
Processor: AMD Athlon 4850e
NOT VERY FUNNY!!!
BTW: Don't tell me that this is not possible.
I am system administrator and I know what I am talking about.

With best regards
helmi007

Sorry - I posted in the wrong thread!
It should be in XBMC-Live
If possible, please shift it.
Thanks in advance.

Hi helmi007, that is indeed not funny and I hope that you were able to restore your partition from the mirror. Thanks for reporting the issue.

if your a system administrator you should know better than to try this stuff
on a real computer with important data in raid setup :)

However i hope you managed to rebuild your raid mate !

When you get things back to normal, can you boot a normal linux livecd and PASTEBIN the outputs of "dmesg", "lspci" and "ls /dev/ | grep ^[sh]d[a-z][0-9]" so we can get an idea of what your system looks like. Also, were you trying to create a usb stick or just run from cd?

Hi D4RK

Thanks for correcting my mistake with the wrong thread.

Yes, not a big problem, I could restore, and the mirror is alreday working again.
I was just a little bit disappointed.
I took the ...LIVE version for testing, because I didn't want to change anything on my system.
I hope that the problem will be solved soon.
I am really interested to test this version - it looks good.
With best regards

Hi althekiller

To answere your questions.

I just tried to boot from CD.
I did not create an USB stick version.
Sorry - I will not try to boot this program on this computer again.
For doing this it would be necessary to change the hardware
(other harddisks) and I don't have the time yet.
With best regards

I think althekiller wanted you to try a 'regular' livecd, ie. any other linux live cd besides xbmc live, and then post the output from those commands.
That way he will be able to see what your system looks like and try to figure out how to fix the problem.

Yes, for god's sake don't boot ours again :p

Wierd... I hope its just some sort of system fault, nothing to do with XBMC.

Well, I can second helmi007s findings. I have the same motherboard, and raid config. Luckily mine was just a test machine, but it resynched easily anyways. It is obvious that the for some reason you are trying access the drive system, which will not work with vendor specific raid drivers.

I tried the Run from CD option with ATI drivers, which I assumed would act like any other Live CD and run from CD/Memory. I'm curious as to what is done with a local drive? temp files?

Wierd... I hope its just some sort of system fault, nothing to do with XBMC.

It would be an oversight in the live cd not XBMC in general.

@amigadude, we could use the same info from you as was requested from helmi007. Merely stating that a problem exists only goes so far in getting it resolved.

OK, I've booted from an old Ubuntu Live CD. (I still need to verify that the Raid is intact.)

Here is the output:
ls /dev/ | grep ^[sh]d[a-z][0-9]

Well, just to close the loop -

I rebooted the system after using the Ubuntu Live CD and my Raid config stayed intact. When you look at the system messages you will probably notice a Crucial USB Flash drive. That is just something so that I could grab the output of the commands, and otherwise would not be included. The only disk drives are 2 320Gb SATA in a Raid-1 (mirror) config. Also, it is a 4-processor system (AMD 9505 I think), for all thats worth.

Hope this helps, and Keep up the great work!

Next time, please use pastebin to paste your long logs/output.

Thanks.

It would be an oversight in the live cd not XBMC in general.
I meant I hope it has nothing to do with the CD at all, and I hoped it was a problem with his system. Like a short, IDK...

Ok, went back and bold+underlined+toupper()ed "pastebin" in my original request. Hopefully there won't be any future discrepancies :)
