A new age has dawned on what began as a mod for Aeon, a creative masterpiece created by DJH_. HORIZONZ has finally been given it's SKIN STATUS, due to all the work which has been put into it over the last few months, but more importantly, the FANBASE and support it has received over that period.
So "Thank You" for helping improve it's reputation and contributing to what will, one day, become the best SKIN xbmc has ever seen. Let's make it happen!
So post your comments, insight, suggestions and above all, help each other out if I'm unavailable to offer any assistance.

Yeah me to... wanted a more stable showcase view that doesn't have glitches when the info section pops up and also i like the idea of fanart showing up instantaneously... thanks for comeback man

Been using your mod for the last two hours. It's really wicked. It looks good, especially all the showcase views. That Icon view is pretty hectic as well!
The games sub view is superb. Always think that they underdo it as part of skins these days, and i use xbmc for games most of the time. Got like a 250, so yeah, thanks for those views.
New Music Vis is good as well. Like that it obscures the visualisation, because it gives me headache most of the time, so I never use it, but now i'll definately use it because it's not too much anymore.
Profiles screen is great as well. Me and my brother use this thing and they never do much with the logon screen and all that. Great job in this mod. Hey, haven't found anything wrong yet

yeah, thanks for letting me know about the set content settings button... try to add that one as soon as i can... i'll add a few other views to "file" mode... was thinking about it, but some views just didn't click with the file mode like the showcase and info views... but i'll look into it!

I spent some time last night playing around with your mod and I must say it is very nice. If you had included the list info in videos from my original mod I would probably be using your mod as my default ;) Just a couple of things that I have noticed. You should use some conditional visibilities so that the cd case images don't show up in pictures and in tv episode views. I think it will add a more finished look to the mod. I noticed some fuzziness in the graphics toward the top of the screen. I am thinking this might be due to the "optimization" of graphics. Personally, since I use Linux, I don't really need optimized graphics. Perhaps you could have uncompressed xpr file available somewhere. Last thing, navigation sounds are a little annoying (in general, not the ones you chose). I can always turn those off though ;) Anyway, congrats. You have made a hell of a lot of progress in a short amount of time. Cheers.

When I click on TV Series I want my defined source "TV Series" (in sources.xml) to be shown in file view. My sources.xml is correct, but I always end up in Movies anyway. Is that a known bug?
I know that there is also an option to use the Aeon -> Home Shortcuts. But I don't know how to use it. Should I specify a path or a source or something else? I find the documentation lacking on this point.

thanks for those comments rand... fuzziness i take it is happening on the glasswide and glassshort images... i'll redo those graphics a little to make it less fuzzy... only noticed it after u mentioned, but i was thinking of re-doing those screens beforehand... about the dynamic info screens in movies... probably add them in just because u asked for them... hahaha... and will probably create new frames for all picturetype media types... well well... got a few things to do for an update... great stuff... let you know when that's out... hope the skin's coming along great... l8r

tv shows and movies file modes are linked... see your having an issue and don't want to use the library or shortcuts in the aeon settings... so what you could try is:
- go to the file mode, select the directory you wish to be the default one to open everytime you push the movies/tvshows section, and open the context menu, and chose the "make default" button... then restart xbmc and check if it works... no idea if it will, but it's a suggestion to try to help sort your issue... not too used to file mode sadly enough! l8r

It seems to be a bug. Your suggestion didn't solve it. But I solved it by adding editing the Home Shortcuts. I entered "Movies" in the movies shortcut and "TV Series" in the tv series shortcut. I didn't think this would work, since that should be the default sources (according to the readme.txt file).

Yeah I'm having the same issues with the black and grey backgrounds when I'm in my library.
The Info view is amazing though, it's exactly what has always been missing from Aeon (and the only reason I've never used it until now). Great job on the mod, once backgrounds are working in Info/Showcase views it will be pretty much perfect IMO!
I'm having a strange issue... i can't figure out why this is happening... when i'm in showcase view for movies, and i pause on a movie the movie info comes up but the cover art stays in the same place... it doesn't move to the left of the screen... what's going now?

Hmm after using this for a while tonight I found a few problems:
- when playing a video, pressing menu gives no way to get into audio options (to change subtitles). This is a big deal because half the time English subs turn on for no reason when I open a movie and I need to turn them off. Is there a way to get the audio menu?
- the button that usually brings up that bar across the top that lists all the debug info (dropped frames, fps, bitrate, etc.) does nothing. Is it possible to get that debug info to show like in PMIII? It's handy to figure out if a video is dropping frames or not (which is unfortunately common in XBMC for me).
Are those 2 things just mapped to different buttons by default? I'm using a remote and the buttons that I use for those things in PMIII don't work (but I can remap them if I know what to set it to).

glad it's not just me then! If this was sorted it would be my default skin. Oh and the view when you pause a movie displaying the dvd cover in the middle rather than the side (this also happens to me when I view a tv show in showcase - i.e. the whole series dvd - the dvd cover does not move to the side it stays in the middle)

Looks like an out of memory issue. Try restarting the xbox and if it still continues run xbmc in debug mode to check memory levels (I'm sure you know the required levels xbmc.01 ;))

I would disagree - I am running on a HTPC with dual core athlon and 4gb memory...

How did you setup the skin? I added the skin as 'Horizonz' with a clean slate on the settings, then set up from scratch. Haven't encountered any of the above problems.

Are you positive you're overwriting the file on the xbox when you're done deleting? I'm guessing you're saving the changes, but they're only saving on the pc and not being transferred back to the xbox.

Same thing happens to me, both with this mod and the regular AEON. I'm running plex... but since it happens in the regular AEON i dunno what can be done about it.

What if you had the info display in videos start out like this, and then pop up on hover to display the full deal?
And while I'm thinking of it...maybe make a 1/2 second delay on the backart changes just so that you can scroll through the movies quicker. Scrolling for me is slightly jerky because it loads the fanart right away...
Otherwise, this is a really cool mod. I like the subtle touches...and the xbox friendliness. :D

Is there a reason for Showcase view to not show up when in File mode? It was my favourite view. And I'm not using the library. Please put it back in Movies and TV. And if possible, also in Music.

Just played with it this morning and i really really like it :nod: Those showcase views are great. And i must say my oldskool xbox handles this mod very smooth.
As mentioned before in this topic, i'm also missing the audio and video options in the dvdmenu. I really hope you can implement these features (i need to select Dutch subtitles while watching my movies :rolleyes:)

Having space between movies defeats the purpose of a "wall" view. You are talking about a panel view which is already available in many skins. Cheers.

Horizonz looks great! Thanks for taking the time to put together this mod!
There's one thing that's been missing from Aeon that is also missing in Horizonz, though. In Files mode in Movies, in the context menu under Set Content, there should be a Settings button to configure the scraper. It's nice to be able to set what information is grabbed from the scraper. By default, not every option is checked off. After doing a totally clean install after the last Aeon update, a bunch of information was missing for my rebuilt library and I couldn't figure out why. I eventually remembered that there was a way to configure the IMDb scraper. Going back to PM3, I re-discovered the Settings button and was able to fix it.
Also, this is really minor, but I figured I'd mention it. In vanilla Aeon, when you're in Library mode in Movies, the year is listed in parentheses after the movie title. I like this but Horizonz doesn't do it. Maybe it's intentional?

i know... thats just personal preference... i did make this mod for myself, but people are liking it, so may as well do a few things for the community... will release an update when i get time to mod my mod... so just hang in there for a while... file mode's never been my bag of chips... but i'll do something about it...

thanks dude... kinda like the fact that there's a single background instead of changing backdrops for the showcase... brings out the fanart more... but you don't use movie fanart or what??? or do you just want backdrops to cycle behind fanart...?

xbmc.01... that's an old aeon bug... showcase doesn't do well with info screens on the xbox... but what's happening to know is weird... that isn't happening on all my mates xbox's using this mod... and i don't think it's a memory issue either...

that may be a bug... my mates xbox systems and all the systems ive used, don't do that... but maybe there's something in the code i changed by mistake or something... i'll try to get it sorted... but if i can't, well... what can i do... only two people with the issue... and i'm really not sure... because it's working fine on other systems... well... i'll check it out

i'll try to sort the audio options out... maybe put the option to switch to it when u load the video options up... i never use it, so i left it out... don't think it was working in the old aeon, but i may be mistaken... so, i'll see if i can sort that out for the next release...

thanks for the suggestion... but i did make that view to be a completely different showcase view, which had a simpler more stable approach... didn't want any dynamic animation involved and most definately didn't want the background delays... but i'll give it a look... not sure about the pop up idea, because that defeats the purpose... but for speeding movement up... i may check that out... we'll see what happens l8r... just got to free some time up and then i'll do a few updates on suggestions i got in here...

nope... it wouldn't look very nice i removed any of the frames, trust me... and i made this mod as an aeon celebration... so, that weather panel's staying classic for now... was trying new ideas... no go for now... but we'll see in the future dude... not likely... but maybe the home page who knows
Is there a reason for Showcase view to not show up when in File mode? It was my favourite view. And I'm not using the library. Please put it back in Movies and TV. And if possible, also in Music.
no reason, just i use the files view to add files, so it doesn't need to be in there... but yeah... i'll think about it... there'll be an update in awhile... so check that out... hopefully it'll be sorted for your pleasure...
I would like to see the movie wall view get refined. with posters just stuck together things look to plain. they would look great with some space in between then and maybe keep them in the dvd case all the time on the wall?
not gonna happen... that's a super dooper cool view... its not meant to be anything more than it is... not gonna change it... as rand says, it defeats the purpose of a panel view... use the icon view if u want... it sounds more along the lines of what u want
Having space between movies defeats the purpose of a "wall" view. You are talking about a panel view which is already available in many skins. Cheers.

Just played with it this morning and i really really like it :nod: Those showcase views are great. And i must say my oldskool xbox handles this mod very smooth.
As mentioned before in this topic, i'm also missing the audio and video options in the dvdmenu. I really hope you can implement these features (i need to select Dutch subtitles while watching my movies :rolleyes:)

There's one thing that's been missing from Aeon that is also missing in Horizonz, though. In Files mode in Movies, in the context menu under Set Content, there should be a Settings button to configure the scraper. It's nice to be able to set what information is grabbed from the scraper. By default, not every option is checked off. After doing a totally clean install after the last Aeon update, a bunch of information was missing for my rebuilt library and I couldn't figure out why. I eventually remembered that there was a way to configure the IMDb scraper. Going back to PM3, I re-discovered the Settings button and was able to fix it.
Also, this is really minor, but I figured I'd mention it. In vanilla Aeon, when you're in Library mode in Movies, the year is listed in parentheses after the movie title. I like this but Horizonz doesn't do it. Maybe it's intentional?

i'll try to sort the audio options out... maybe put the option to switch to it when u load the video options up... i never use it, so i left it out... don't think it was working in the old aeon, but i may be mistaken... so, i'll see if i can sort that out for the next release...

thanks dude... kinda like the fact that there's a single background instead of changing backdrops for the showcase... brings out the fanart more... but you don't use movie fanart or what??? or do you just want backdrops to cycle behind fanart...?
Yup.. backgrounds cycling would be great. I am using library mode and don't use fanart for my movies.
I'm missing background cycling and as long as library mode is not full-proof I still prefer file-mode. Why is there no showcase in file-mode?
BTW... If you do enable showcase in file-mode could you make a short delay on background changes to make scrolling smooth...

the delay idea doesn't work, ur gonna get that hitch no matter how long it takes backgrounds to change... waiting to get time to do some updating on my mod... got a few things i need to sort out... including getting showcase into file mode... that's gonna be a mission... but yeah, i'll try and sort it out when i get the time...

look in the scraper settings for thetvdb its the "Prefer Posters" option this of course means it will still download wide ones if no poster exists
Just bumping my qestions from a while back... is this a stand alone skin based on Aeon or a mod or the original skin? ie do I have to install Aeon first? looked at the files but couldnt really tell? Hoping to get all my Boxes rebuilt this weekend and would love to try this one as I never really had alot of luck with Aeon... georgous as it was... the 733mhz monster didnt cope very well.

I implemented your changes, but your first 'patch' can be read in different ways... I ended up with this:

I still have to find out where these patches apply to, but did them anyway... I hope it will not put our planet out of orbit.

i think that has to be done manually in rssfeeds.xml in the userfolder... not exactly sure, because i'm not much a an rss feed fan... as for more rssfeeds... don't know if it would suit this mod... good idea though... is it even possible to have more than one rss feed at the time?

Aeon always lacked one thing in my opinion. That's completeness. There was always quite a few things not done which gave the skin an incomplete feel about it. And I'm not talking about Bugs, it had so many things that were never completed, which meant I had to use another skin to do this or that.
This mod is not like that, and XB2IRIS, the fact that your completing pretty much every thing people need in the skin, makes this just that much better. Best thing is you take suggestions and are updating the skin where it needs to be updated. That's great and i want to thank you for the hard work.
Love the mod. Keep up the good work and looking forward to the update.

what u mean? the bar that says how far it is when adding new music to the library? not sure, if that's what u mean... and don't know if we can say the next release will be perfect... but it'll definately be closer to that exact state... trying to get more and more functionality out of the mod... no skin is perfect... even pm3 has a few things that ain't perfect... so, just working in the direction of making a real good mod that people, including me, can use on a day to day basis without any hiccups...

not yet man... that was released a week ago and i've been a bit busy... but there'll be one up by the weekend... sorting some issues out and a changing a few things... just trying to iron out all the problems... but bugs will always be around... so, check later on... update is coming soon... and yes, the first page will be updated when it happens...

Yep, the black bar on the bottom doesn't pop up... When updating my video library it does show.
The whole Aeon concept is superb but imho it misses some important functions. Your great work on this mod made me use Aeon again! I really like your vision concerning your mod. I hope you will see "perfection" one day :;):

didn't know that happens... looking at the time right now... and in about 6 hours it'll be the same time as on the screener you added... so, as i've never come across that issue before... and since i haven't changed anything to do with that time panel... i'll check it out and correct it so the problem doesn't persist... shouldn't be a mission to do...

yeah, that hasn't been implemented in aeon just yet... will see if i can sort it out... no progress in aeon altogether it seems... it just says please wait if i'm not mistaken... is that what it does or does it say anything else when you update your video library? haven't added anything to my library since i started putting this mod together... but i'll see what i can do if i know exactly what it says when it updates urs

that's why i included the other showcase view... a reason it doesn't show up strait away is because if it did, naviagtion would slow down, and isn't the point of the first showcase view... made the info view for people who didn't mind slower naviagtion, so fanart would show up immediately... so, won't change showcase animation for now... about the watched tabs and so on... will definately put that in at a later stage... but i'm busy with earlier requests right now... just sorting out a few issues and adjusting this and that... but i'll get to it eventually... so check back later dudie

While you're taking requests, I figured it would be a good time to mention some things that Aeon doesn't have that other skins do (and the reasons why I don't use Aeon yet):
a) codec info during video playback
b) audio menu during video playback
c) info screen during video playback (to check playtime without pausing)
d) cast pictures in movie info dialog cast list (it just shows the names)
e) cast search results when clicking on cast member in movie info dialog
(a) and (b) have been mentioned... do you think the other 3 are worth working on and within the realm of your mod? Those 5 things would really improve Aeon's usability (for me, at least), and your great added view types Horizonz would make for an even more fantastic skin!

well... u need to download the covers somewhere first on all... cdcovers.cc is a good site... then u need to crop the images into a square shape (whatever size u want)... and then u need to create shortcuts (cut files) to ur games and specify within them where u've stored ur cover images... it's a hand full, but if u want a nice collection... u gotta put the time in...
for detailed information, search for "shortcuts" in the wiki/support section of this site!

I believe he's referring to the new library display mode called Info mode. It displays the movie's fanart background as you cycle through movies.
Great work on the skin, it definitely adds a lot to the Aeon skin. I know you mentioned it as a matter of preference but like some other people in the thread, I do miss having the idle fanart background transitions in the library views for TV & Movies instead of the single gray background. How do i get this skin to show fanart for music? For movies the fanart gets set in library view, and in files view it can be defaulted to use a fanart.jpg if existent in the same folder. While you're taking requests, I figured it would be a good time to mention some things that Aeon doesn't have that other skins do (and the reasons why I don't use Aeon yet):
a) codec info during video playback
b) audio menu during video playback
c) info screen during video playback (to check playtime without pausing)
d) cast pictures in movie info dialog cast list (it just shows the names)
e) cast search results when clicking on cast member in movie info dialog
(a) and (b) have been mentioned... do you think the other 3 are worth working on and within the realm of your mod? Those 5 things would really improve Aeon's usability (for me, at least), and your great added view types Horizonz would make for an even more fantastic skin!
(a), (b) and (c) are going to be in the next release... (d) could be done, but it's not priority right now, but it will be done, so hang in there... (e)... no idea... never even new u could do that... i'll look into it when (d) happens... don't think it'd be done soon though... first want to get the mod working well before i deal with those ones... l8r
I believe he's referring to the new library display mode called Info mode. It displays the movie's fanart background as you cycle through movies.
Great work on the skin, it definitely adds a lot to the Aeon skin. I know you mentioned it as a matter of preference but like some other people in the thread, I do miss having the idle fanart background transitions in the library views for TV & Movies instead of the single gray background. not possible as of yet... a request has been put in for that feature, but because xbmc is currently in a feature freeze, it'll only be done when atlantis final is released... which may be a while

Since I'm spending most of my free time making this mod better and better... anyone by any chance feel like a challenge... would like someone to create a backpack with only the best, stunningest backdrops, which compliments this Mod (i.e maybe one that looks good with the new dark home scroller), with a few backdrops for every sub section... i mean, only the highest quality, coolest pictures... maybe through in a few really hard to find pictures which look great... like some quality rock bands for instance... pictures that really compliment a tv screen...

I'll do my best to scour around and find additions for the pack, but don't have the time or means to put much together at the moment. Will do my best though.

i like them 1280x720... i'm not using an xbox, but i've tried 1280x720 images on my housemates xbox and at default he uses 720p images, and it works without any problem... this backpack thing isn't anything official... it's not gonna be released with the mod... (maybe later, who knows)...
but yeah, i always wanted to put together a good looking backpack to use with the mod... something that goes with the skin very well... clear, nicely coloured images that fit in with the scheme of things, but as i mentioned, time is something i'm majorly short of...
so, if anyone was bored... maybe they were proud of the backdrop collection they had collected and refined... they could pass them on so i wouldn't have to stop updating this mod to make a backpack for myself... so, if u have a cool collection... u don't need to change sizes and all that... just through it at me... i'll be proper grateful... i promise... hahaha

i've created this entire mod for personal use, so the games section is preserved for xbox games... sorry about that, but there's no way of taking them gameboxes away right now... maybe i'll set the aracde section up for emulators and so on... but i've not got to it as of yet... too busy with other updates... but later on, hopefully ill get to it...

I'd love to use your mod in file mode, but there is a pretty decent delay when switching from movie to movie (due to the loading of the fan art).

looks good livin... i'll give it a looky... but this mod was meant to get rid of all the rough textures and provide a glass overlayed look to the skin... so, i can't include it... aeon stark in pretty rough on the texture front, so i wanted to steer clear of that idea as not to step on any toes... but i have to say, it looks good... don't know if the aeon classic's look is outdated though... pm3 is the oldest and wisest of skins and for me, it still doesn't look outdated... guess that's a nerdy take on things...

It was fun to see the changes everytime...
And all at once on July 29th he doesn't believe in this anymore...

Yes, but you will notified right away and the other has the choice to use an older version... It's not any different now. I want showcase in file mode. That's why I'm using the original Aeon now and live with the things that are than yours...

haven't really paid any attention to the other sections besides the main ones i use on a day to day basis... adult is included... will spend some time working on them at a later stage... but for now... try editing the home shortcuts section in aeon settings and specify the location of your adult section... and select it on the left and it'll show up in the main menu... not sure how it'll look or work... as i've said, haven't edited anything to do with it... it may even be unusable... let me know

no problemo... altered the player controls a bit... they look a little less cluttered and a little more aeony... update release is coming later in the week... no later... it'll be sorted in there...

Right now I only have grey before the fanart comes up, and if I down have ha fanart, its grey to. Both in tvshows and movies.
Showcase and widecase in tvshows.

Im running xbmc-linux SVN from yesterday. XBMC refuses to load Horizonz because it requires a skin of version 2.00. Will there be a 2.00 version of Horizonz or do I need to downgrade xbmc?

in the current version of Horizons .. when you pause a movie you get a OSD that comes up in the middle of the screen which only shows movie info (title, director, genre, rating & runtime)
i feel that pausing should also bring up the OSD that comes up at the bottom of the screen (the one that shows a timebar .. ie how far into the video file you are)

Showcase is my preferred view and I believe most agree..
Because of the the fanart it doesn't disturb the picture as much as the poster view does.
I would even like the showcases a little bit lower so more of the fanart is shown.
Can this be implemented and if not... can I do it myself somewhere?
Another question is about the movie in focus... The selected movie is now always in the middle and it will always block the same part of fanart that's underneath... Most of the time it's the most important part as well.
If it would be able to move 1 or 2 DVD's to the left and right, it would make it more realistic. The unselected DVD's could also be a little bit smaller...
Or is this something that's been done in XBMC itself?

I really like the "info-view" you get when you wait a second in the showcase view in library mode. But why only in library mode? Library mode is a PITA when you have hundreds of childrens programmes that the scrapers does not handle.

How do I find the "Option to have backdrop cycling in Showcase view"?
Right now I only have grey before the fanart comes up, and if I down have ha fanart, its grey to. Both in tvshows and movies.
Showcase and widecase in tvshows.
BTW, good work with the mod. =) Fixed some really good things.
Is it possible to add the "info" to the "banner" mode to?

the option is in the features section of aeon settings... it's enabled by default... disable it and backdrops should show up behind your movie fanart...
and about the "info" banner view... xbmc only allows ten views, so, i'm overloaded... sorry man... had to chose one view for banners, and showcase was the obvious... maybe i'll add it to the "info" view at a later stage... so, we'll see...

i just installed horizons on a clean install (using plex .. which i also updated at the same time so this might be related to that .. but i figured it see if anyone else here has this issue) in library mode .. both movies and tv shows .. link for Recently added Movies/TV Shows is not there anymore

played around with visibility on those frames, but they're slightly transparent already... not the cd frame so much... didn't want the background to overwelm the frames as it did when i increased the transparency... won't change for now... thanks for the feedback though

It's true, showcase it everybodies favorite... it's possible to move the it down a tad, but it unbalances certain things on the rest of the page... tried a few levels... changed info location... frame location... and the locations you see are the ones i like best for now...

i get what your saying man... how does the showcase view handle all of those childrens programmes... they have movie fanart? because the info view has no info to show in file mode, so i excluded it... showcase however does work... or are we talking about the fanart transitions?

Thanks for the comments... to tell u the truth, haven't even looked at any of the non-default sections (including adult)... i've been neglecting them because i never use them... but yeah, i will some time... didn't even think they'd work at all after all the modding... at least that's a positive... but rest assured, they will be looked at one day...

I dont understand why soo many posters in tv shows, and only on banner, when a banner is what you get when using thetvdb?

I havnt changed anything, and in Aeon I have backdrops for standard, until I change to a movie with a fanart..

Hmm, in Showcase view the background flashes to grey between every fanart switch... did I miss a setting somewhere? Instead of fading from one picture to the next it flashes grey instantly and then fades to the next.

The scrapers have lots of problems with childrens programmes (especially swedish ones). Some works great, like Cars, the Lion King, the get thumbs and fanarts are downloaded. But for things like anki.och.pytte.trean, imdb might fetch data for a 80 year old german movie :-)
Hence I like to use the file mode for the kids movies.
How did you get your showcase movies to display plot and various other text above the thumb?

if you disable the "disable backdrop cycling (applies to showcase)", then backdrop cycling will resume in showcase view behind your fanart (as in the original aeon)... the option is enabled by default... so go click on it... it'll work...

get you now... well... the showcase view as well as the info view are wrap lists i.e. the focused DVD will remain on one location... but as for selecting a movie only when u press it is possible... maybe it is but i don't think it would be good taking a set location for the focused dvd away... that would change the space available for other things such as movie info... it would also be hard to implement... it's a good idea though... maybe i'll do it on the info view because the showcase view is the one i wanted to remain true to aeon... info was meant to be my second showcase view i could mess around with...
What happen to the banner view? did you take it out? I cant see it in the view type option..

theres an optoon in features called "disable fanart cycling". if you disable this option, your movie backdrops will cycle behind your movie fanart... thus, no more grey background... is that what you wanted?

2 things .. could you add in the preset sleep timer settings to the shutdown option in the right thumbstick click menu ala PM3 .. so if say i push left or right it picks 30 , 60 , 90 etc etc .. its painful to use custom timer every night :]

Just downloaded the latest Horizonz and the problem I had of fan-art showing when I didn't want it to has now gone. I did a clean install, cleared the cache, tdata etc and all is fandabbydozy :-) To be honest it wasn't a huge problem as I could go back and choose the no thumbnail option.
Big thanks though for the latest version, the few fixes you've made have made it almost perfect and it is now far and away the best xbmc skin available. Simple to use and looks stunning.

The current setting makes it display fanart properly, but when I switch between shows/movies with fanart the grey background cuts in and out instead of the images fading from one to another.
Also I think a better way would be to show fanart if available and if not then show a random backdrop instead of the grey background. IMO, if custom backdrops are selected then the grey background should NEVER be shown, it should always be replaced with a custom backdrop. This is how other skins work (MediaStream, other Aeon views).

In library, View Info on a movie. Go to Cast, and click on one of the names in the list. (that list should show the actor thumb btw). When you click on a name in the list if you look closely there is a window that appears listing the actors other movies but it is BEHIND the current info window so you can barely see it. All that needs to be fixed there is to make that window pop up in front of the Info window.

well, the context menu has nothing to do with the skin... it's xbmc which specifies which buttons show up where on the context menu, the skin just specifies how it looks... the shutdown menu and the menu with sort by/viewytpe are skin defined... don't think it's an aeon/horizonz issue...
And xb2iris... look at all those happy faces...!!

get what ur saying... are we're talking about the section which has the folder hierachy (genres, title, and so on) where default icons are displayed in the frames... because at the moment, i can't find a way of putting backdrop cycling in there without messing up other things in the skin... i struggled with that for ages, and kinda gave up... is that what u mean? because in the movies and tv shows sections, when the "backdrop disable" function is disabled... backdrops will always show up behind fanart, unless an image isn't loaded due to memory issues (grey backdrop will show then, because i don't like black screens)... i've tried backdrop cycling on 6 systems, and grey backdrop only shows on my mates system when memory issues occur... which is really rarely anyways... so, i'm i on the right track here?
