I don't think there is an option to disable the fading. It's the way the view is at the moment. It could be that xb2iris will pick up your request when he is able to work on volume IV.

Just donated a few hours ago, sorry I took so long, had to verify my account. Anyways, Screenshots look amazing. I was wondering when those Dialogs were going to be dealt with. But that's such a good idea. Do they slide in and out like the time panel?

Anyhow, like the fact that your trying to finish this Horizonz before you branch! Thats good. Gives you more time to concentrate on the look. Hey, hows it doing recruiting that guy from devianart to do Horizonz graphics? I adore his gallery. 34 Daily Deviations is crazy, but he's the best designer I've come across in an age. How far away does he stay from you?

thanks man... yeah, the dialogs are exactly like the time bars... the ones i've finished look pretty cool... so, i'm hoping this feature makes dialogs a little less of a headache... and no, his not in just yet... thinking about it... doesn't know if it'd improve his portfolio... go figure...

I really like the new dialog design. Looking forward to the new version. Any estimate as to when you might be ready to test it?

hmmm... its unusable is parts right now... if i got my hands on a place to finish this thing off, it'd probably be done in a few days... i have a lot of free time... but yeah, asked a mate if he could borrow me his, coz he never uses it, but his thinking about it... so we'll see... as for buying a pc... trying to sell some stuff, so with the donation fund, i'll be able to... but we'll see, hopefully soon...

The dialogues are beautiful. I see that the letter view is the only one devoid of some kind of progress bar...what about having a bar there to reflect how far through the entire collection the person is?

Just a thought. Either way, I like the little attention to detail you're putting into everything. The subtle stuff is what everybody notices but can't quite put their finger on...

So what do you mean when you say "make it more graphic-oriented"?

that idea is good, no idea if its doable, but i'll look into it as soon as possible... graphic orientated... well... lets just say... i'll be changing a lot of graphics to get away from its aeon look... trying a few new things as well... since this skin is close to having everything it should have in it... i'll be messing with the interface after its closer to done i.e. after volume iv comes out... which i hope will be soon... i'm thinking up a lot of ideas, but i can't do them, which sucks... but yeah, i hope a new look will be come along maybe february or so depending on when volume iv gets released... dam, why couldn't that pc have blown a week later, i'm sure it would've been stable for release...

Why can't i install in the latest svn version on linux? It says something about incompatibility and version 2.

like pletopia says... if it ain't installed in the correct way, it says that... basically the hierachy is wrong, something like this...

xbmc/skins/horizonz - an aeon mod/horizonz - an aeon mod

make sure you extracted Vol. 3 properly
into your skin dir .. put the horizon dir .. and that the horizon dir inside has a 720p etc

lot of times you get the horizon's dir (which has the 720p dir etc) inside another parent horizon's dir ;)

xb2iris, what a brilliant idea for those dialogs. Dynamically changing dialogs, cool! Also like the way you integrated the progress bar. Very clean and sexy.

yeah... most of those pics are mockups, but yeah, i should get them to work like that... won't be to hard... hard thing will be getting the priority list sorted... but again, should be doable... thanks for the encouragement dude... great to hear

Sorry if I'm being silly, but does anyone know how to change:

1) When in Wall view, the colouration of the thumbs. Id rather cover art wasn't greyed out.

2) The size of the zooms of the cover art when they are highlighted?

if you have any xml experience, check the wallview.xml out... u can change anything u want... coz at the mome, i'm unable to do any editing... but what do u mean by the coloration? and the zoom is uniform, and involves a few xml alterations... but yeah, like i said, me has no way of changing it and no code to reference what 2 change over here...

How do you get the Movie infomation to show next to the cover? Can't find anywhere to enable that..

thats the info view... not the showcase... and it'll always show like that, if u pause on an item for a few seconds... the second is the wall view... and if u've selected an item on the right side of the screen, that info will show up on the left of the screen, if the option in aeon->features is enabled which specifies that info should show up...

I just thought I would share what other forums on the net have been requesting of Horizonz. I have been a member of NVNews.net forums for almost 5 years and some of the members there are loving Horizonz. Here is what nekrosoft13 has to say:

Kingsley, if you use the library mode the info will pop-up after a few seconds when selecting a movie/tv show.

Steps to take:

- in filemode set the content for the map which includes your movies/tvshows
- pick a scraper, for example imdb for movies and tvdb for tv shows
- scan for new content (info, cover and fanart are scraped)
- go into librarymode

Now select a movie and voila after a few seconds the info window will pop up! :nod:

Hey guys. How's those donations coming? 54% seems to be the number of the day. Thats so much closer than when I donated at the beginning!

Anyways, C'mon PEOPLES, donate, I want Volume IV out as soon as possible. The screenshots are looking mighty promising, don't you think. Hes said he'll need a week or less to put this thing up after he gets a PC, so lets help him get one.

It's XMAS! Give the skinner dude a XMAS gift and I'm sure he'll give us all a SPLENDID Gift right back! WOW, those Dialogs look great!!!!! I'm excited enough to donate again, even though I'm a poor student without a holiday job! C'mon Y'ALL!!!!

I totally agree with missy_xbmc... us females are abusing you guys donationwise. We're the only ones of a few who have done something to help XB2IRIS! What I mean is, with over 15,000 downloads and all only coming from this site I believe, how can only a few have a few spare pounds laying around to donate. That doesn't make any sense!

Seems, that all most people do is tell XB2IRIS what they need or want in the skin, and when he puts it in there, all he gets is them downloading his skin, with no thank you and most definately, no donation. That is completely wrong in my opionion.

Well, as it is, ask for whatever you want, it won't be added coz if you haven't heard, Horizonz is not in production right now, due to its developer not having a pc to do it on. And with XB2IRIS close to securing one of the best Graphic Designers out there to do his graphics, this is the skin to watch. How unappreciative are people??? It's crazy!

it's up to like 55% now, so things are going really slow... it seems this skin has lost a few fans over the last bit... but yeah, what can we expect... guess it's up to me to win them back...

i didn't know that... eish... i'm so unbeknowing... nyways... i get yah... 4 is already done for volume iv... and i had a few candidates for 3 when my pc blew... luckily all that stuff is on my external... but guess changing things is outta the question right now... hoping a mate will borrow the money (with the donations) to get a pc, but who knows... hopefully i'll be able to mezmerize u guys with Volume IV this year still... tons of updates are done, something like 35 or so... but its very unstable and the osd is F&&^&$D right now... if those things weren't like that, i'd release, but itrs pointless getting something incomplete out...

This skin has more potential than any skin alive. Making the skin fully workable, and then making it look special. Thats a work of genius! C'mon guys, bring on the donations! 15,000 downloads. WOW, i'd expect that! Where is everyone NOW??? It's making me crazy! Stop hibernating biatches, and Save Horizonz!?!?!?!?!

i do to man... u have no idea! it breaks me everytime I put together screenshots for y'all... sitting in this internet cafe messing about on an unstable version of the skin and not having the time to make it stable and releaseable... it sucks, but the time will come when all that changes... wish all the people who got a request granted would chip in... but thats not how things work out...

xb2iris, what kind of PC are you building?

not much of a tech guru, so the only option i have is to buy some low-tech pc which costs about R4000 which is around 300 pounds... if i didn't have any debts or court bills, and a kid to look after, i'd definately just buy one now, but with everything taking its toll financially... i'm stuck... to think that more than a year ago, life was nice and stable... guess when life twists in the wrong direction, people become very very lost in the oblivion they call their lives... but yeah, wish i could explain the full story to u guys, but it would be wrong... dam, and seriously wish i knew anything about computer hardware, but unfortunalety i don't... all i know now is that motherboard and cpu died in the last pc... apparently something to do with the power supply over volting... so no idea... :(

Yeah, I'd like a new release come xmas as well. Wish we could all stand together to make that happen, but so many people are popping in to download the skin, and not even looking at any of the sub-forums.

In a perfect world, people would help each other out and not settle for not joining the circle of life. But who knows, maybe the donation race will hot up sometime soon. I hope people see this skin's potential. And what other skin allows for requests the way Horizonz does. Its such a pitty!

Anybody remember the Widecase Poll? Well, after some serious thought, this is the result.

Obviously, based on the poll's results and all the topic replies posted in the thread itself, I had a great deal to think about. With Horizonz being a community driven skin, I had to find a middle ground in which everyone, including myself, would benefit. On the one hand, a majority of you didn't mind the Widecase View being left out, and thus, I removed it from Horizonz. On the other hand, many of you still prefer using Wide banner type icons for TV Shows, and thus, with everyone's needs in mind, I needed a way of keeping the majority happy, without losing any sleep over plans I had for a new Universal view (won't be ready for Volume IV unfortunately). So the following idea arrived.

XBMC is limited to ten Viewtypes, and as such, creating Banner modifed Views for Horizonz was out of the question. So, what I did, was create a modified Frame to bare wide icons without spoiling current Viewtypes. Now, the only way I was able to do this, was to create a frame which fitted in with the dimensions allowed by their base Viewtype, and the resulting idea was a funky new Dialogonal Frame for wide icons for all views in the TV Shows section (excluding the Wall View).

So, the result of the above analogy in a "Use Wide Icons" option in the features section, which replaces the List, Poster, Info and Showcase views with wide icon versions with the exact same dynamics as their base views found in Horizonz beforehand. Using the option however, does deactivate the Wall view, as I couldn't think up a way around the new Diagonal frame issue. So here is the resulting views:

Bare in mind, I haven't yet managed to do the Showcase view, so the above pictures of it are nothing but mockups, for now, but I assure you that it's going to be wicked. Furthermore, I've also included the following across the Video Library:

- Watched/Unwatched Icons for all views including the new Diagonal Wide Icon viewtypes (these can be turned off)

- Watched/Unwatched episode counts for all views in the TV Shows section.

- TV Show Info has been updated to accomodate Wide Icons when the "Use Wide Icons" option is toggled.

So, all in all, there will now be 4 Views for Wide Icon fans to enjoy. I hope this is good news for all those who participated in the Widecase Poll! Let me know what you think?

DONATION UPDATE

As you all know, Horizonz has been put on hold for now while I, with your help, find the means to re-establish developement. Progress on that front has slowed down over the last week, so without sounding too depressing, Volume IV may not see this Forum until next year, which I hope isn't the case. Too all of you who have contributed to the cause, I again, reiterate my Thanks and re-assure you that Horizonz will be the skin I set out for it to be! It's your skin, and in such, I hope that these updates are reassuring and show that I'm doing this thing via input from you I've received over the last few months. If you choose to donate, your help will be greatly appreciated and to all the moaners and promotion artists out there, chill. Yes, Horizonz has been downloaded 15000+ times, but that doesn't mean any of them actually use it. So, lets not point fingers okay! It's annoying!

Anyway, here's how we are looking on the scale of donation-orientated progress:

Hey you know what? I'm no fan of wide icons, but I have to admit you've come up with a really interesting solution. Very eye-catching!

Regarding the ongoing donations issue, may I recommend some transparency by switching from a percentage of progress to an actual cash amount? I'm surprised at the recent 1% increase (from 54% to 55%). Did someone donate a dollar? I'm just asking since a $10 donation translating to 1% increase would suggest a target amount of $1000, which is pretty steep... How much are you after, exactly? :)

Also, and please don't take thius in the wrong way, but when you say things like

Makes me think hang on, if "time" is the issue, what are we donating for? Sounds to me like if you have time to go to this internet cafe' and take hi-rez screenies of this so-called "unstable" version, then you have both the time AND the hardware needed to make changes to the of XML. If that PC can run PhotoShop, I'm pretty sure it can run XBMC.

I'm not trying to be a dick, I respect your work and admire your skin... It's just that a lot of what you keep repeating is starting to sound a bit hollow, like you're just waiting around for us to send cash.

Please remember there's people out there like djh who bust their ass in a day job (in Japan I believe, you can only imagine the kind of pressure they put him under) and still have time to crack on with one of the most amazing skinning efforts I have ever seen. Without asking for a dime. I guess it puts things in perspective a little, is all.

I can agree with more users here: it's not my thingy that view. Still can't get used to those rounded frames...

How about something like this (http://xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=35011) for a new widescreen view? Letting the info screen popping out of the middle of the wheel?

Another thing i had in mind:
I think Horizonz needs to get a more uniform look. What i mean is: the time/date bar and RSS bar have rounded corners, the new status bar has sharp corners, your new frames have the rounded corners again...

Well, sorry to say it, but i did it. Can't change that now, but seriously, I want a new release around soon. I can't wait, seeing as most of the things this forum has asked for are added for Volume IV, and no one is going to help get what they asked for, which doesn't make sense to me. Well, I guess I have to join the band wagon and grow patience.

And it seems most people dislike the new Wide Icons. That's sad, considering you've obviously worked your ass off trying to make the masses happy. I know why you did it, and I understand, but seriously guys, he doesn't even have a computer to change things on, so why you breaking an idea down without trying it. I've been surprised on how many times my thoughts on a screenshot never translated to actually using it. For Instance, never liked the Info view, now it's my default! Go figure, give something a go before you comment!

To me, it looks forced. Like, you wanted so badly to include the wide icons that you just threw em in there however. Mad props for attempting it...but I just don't think it looks right.

Then again, I jumped on the "poster view all around" bandwagon when I first ran across Aeon, so the issue doesn't really affect me one way or another...

well, took me about a week, so i guess it wasn't took a bit more effort than that :), but yeah, i get what you mean... and to tell you the truth, i was ditching wide icons until this idea came up, and for me, its the best solution till something better comes up... but like BlackRose says, everything ur seeing looks better when you use it, take my word for it... but above all, 4 options for wide icon users is better than one crappy one...

Makes me think hang on, if "time" is the issue, what are we donating for? Sounds to me like if you have time to go to this internet cafe' and take hi-rez screenies of this so-called "unstable" version, then you have both the time AND the hardware needed to make changes to the of XML. If that PC can run PhotoShop, I'm pretty sure it can run XBMC.

I'm not trying to be a dick, I respect your work and admire your skin... It's just that a lot of what you keep repeating is starting to sound a bit hollow, like you're just waiting around for us to send cash.

Please remember there's people out there like djh who bust their ass in a day job (in Japan I believe, you can only imagine the kind of pressure they put him under) and still have time to crack on with one of the most amazing skinning efforts I have ever seen. Without asking for a dime. I guess it puts things in perspective a little, is all.

nyways, about the donation, not using monetary values because i was advised against it by the authorities that be... hehehe... nah, that 1% means that someone donated around 5 pounds between the period... looking for around 250 to 300 pounds, which is for a lo tech pc without a monitor... i'll use the old one from the blown pc even though its a 15 inch non-wide screen... it'll do... its actually like 55,3% or so... to be exact...

nyways... guess i made a mistake about the time thing... when u type long ass replies like i do, u tend to make mistakes... read back, probably 100's of them all over the place... but yeah, the pc is the issue, not time... i'm not doing anything with my time except looking after my kid and hitting this internet cafe every day to reply to messages and check email... so, times what i have a ton of... money nope... its a long messed up story... i do however start a new job 6 january... so, that'd change then, but it means i'd get paid end of january and that means, new hardware... yippee, can't wait... so, u can imagine the frustration... having all this free time and nothing besides a few odd bits to do... it sucks... but yeah, i'll deal with it...

also, all screeners are taken on this very computer... in an internet cafe... where it costs around a pound an hour... mentioned that quite a bit... so, as for changing xml... nope... takes to long... and i can't afford to spend tons of money in here... mockups are easy to make with the psd files and photoshop... and other screeners, well, take a few minutes... back-up of userdata folder... thus, only two tv shows in tv shows section... not good for screenshots though... it would be better having more, but i haven't had time to collect since starting horizonz... just the odd movie...

and about djh and aeon... he dissapeared for 6 months while this skin started... i worked until the end of october when i moved here... that was about a 60 hours a week on average job... and trust me, it was harder, based on the fact that my life was dramatic as hell last year... horizonz was a bit of an outlet... but i won't get into that coz, its a long story as i mentioned... did u ever read the consider donating topic in here... that'd explain why i've been asking for donations...

honestly .. taking a look at those screenshots i'm not completely convinced they look that great .. like someone said above they just looked forced

i really still feel you should look into consolidating "poster" "showcase" & "info" these 3 view types are SOOO nearly the same viewtype

poster is the most different one because its got the background from list view .. and its centered in the screen

BUT .. Info and Showcase are exactly the same except for Showcase being a smidgen higher up and more reflective below the icons (thats why i use and prefer Info since it gives you more of the fanart in the back)

i know about simularity... but i'd like to keep things this way coz... showcase is indespensible as we know... info view is my modifyable view i'm going to constantly change until i'm happy, and poster is my favorite view at the moment... hehehe... so no room for killing views right now... but yeah, it seems everyone dislikes the new wide icons... but yeah, i guess i'll change something... probably delete it and try again although i'm outta ideas... sad day... guess whoever doesn't like them, use the posters instead for now... coz i can't obviously change them now... hehehe... and also, volume iv is already over delayed as it is...

How about something like this (http://xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=35011) for a new widescreen view? Letting the info screen popping out of the middle of the wheel?

Another thing i had in mind:
I think Horizonz needs to get a more uniform look. What i mean is: the time/date bar and RSS bar have rounded corners, the new status bar has sharp corners, your new frames have the rounded corners again...

Here is my comment as a new XBMC/Horizonz user:

- Vote for European languages support. Aeon/Horizonz fonts sure look nice, but they lack support for correct showing non-english DVD titles or plots.
- Could use some visual feedback for VolumeUp/Down (not sure if this lacks in Horizonz or XBMC)

Dude...you really enjoy Horizonz. Like...I'd be kinda scared if I were x2biris kinda "enjoy". I mean; it's my default skin, I spend a large majority of my freetime making backdrops for it, and I visit these forums several times daily for information on Horizons (and Aeon Stark)...yet you've totally got me whooped.

And...in regards to your statement about "he doesn't even have a computer"...I disagree *slightly*. All you need to edit xml is notepad or a similar text editor. I know you couldn't do full-blown testing from a cafe, but to make small changes and implement them shouldn't be that big of a deal.

Just getting started with XBMC and love what I see for the Horizon mod. Question is how to install? I extracted the files to the AEON skin folder but I don't get the option of the new views? Was I supposed to overlay Aeon?

cool man... nyways... a pound an hour is steep in south africa though... not allowing myself to stay here for more than an hour unless its ultra neccessary... and as i need to install XBMC, Horizonz, Userdata and Backdrops everytime I get here... I don't think the time would be worth it, although I have managed to do a few things codewise in this place... which is good, but not good enough for u guys i know... sorry geez...

Some of these features are incomplete, others untested and at present, the OSD's are very unstable, but with some editing time everything will be corrected for Volume IV.

Last Note

I know that nothing I'm presenting at the moment in mind altering, but with a full featured, close-to-done skin close to being ready, you're soon set to have your minds blown!

Logically, completing a skin's feature set has always been more important, so one has time to filter out its floors and learn more about what its appeal is. I believe that we've continued along the right road to achieving this, and that even though some ideas never looked great, they had purpose and ideal. With a path set, there's always the oppertunity of returning to the beginning and beautifying the stones which make up the path itself.

With this in mind, I've asked XBDD to send me a few Mockups I made around the end of September so, that you guys can see what a more polished Horizonz may look like. Should have them up as soon as I get them, but yeah, when I get them is up to XBDD. So there's something for you guys to look forward to.

Donation Update

On the one hand, there's been no change on the donation front, but on the other, I've managed to sell a few pieces of hardware from my old computer for in accumulation of about $45 or so if I calculate it based on 10:1 ratio over here.

I love the work, but I have to say the new universal frame setup just isn't doing it for me. For me it seems to be going away from the sleek look of Aeon/Horizonz. If anything, the frame actually draws attention away from the movie poster, and also from the background. It's drawing too much attention.

Just my 2 cents though.

I was thinking, instead of trying to force a Widecase View, why not just have
an option of not using frames and a set height/weight ?

By doing this, the Wide Icons will look just fine in poster view, showcase or even
Info since you are not resizing them and they will just show in their original aspect
ratio.

I like frames/dvd boxes and all but there is a lot of non-movie content where my
folder.jpg or filename.tbn file is not in the aspect ratio of a movie poster/dvd cover
so by eliminating the forced display of the thumb inside a box, they will look just
fine for us non-poster fans.

Just a thought...

well, not like that because when creating views like showcase, theres a set width and height u set, and thus, if those are changed, the original will have spaces in between them... which is a no go... this was an idea so that i wouldn't tamper with the originals... and i still believe its a great idea... not forced as many suggested... it doesn't look great yet, but it will once the graphic overhaul happens... thing is... and removing the thumb frame, would make this skin look cheap... and destroy a lot of its appeal... plus, u'd still need a shape to keep unifromity and avoid untidiness... thats just how it plays logically in my mind right now...

I turned from original aeon to horizonz. I have a question concerning the backdrops in the home screen. When music is playing the music info is shown and the skin is cycling through the backdrops of each menu item. However, after a few minutes the screen fades to black and the text in the menu bar is gone. Is there an option to disable this option so that it keeps cycling through my backdrops?

Another question though: There is no OSD shown when I increase or decrease the sound or when I mute the sound. Is there an option for that? A little bar would be nice when the movie is in fullscreen.

Hi, LOVE this theme.. If you have noticed from my other posts I am new to XBMC and new to these forums so still trying to work my way around and read as much as I can.

I have a question about browsing movies and tv shows in Showcase mode. Sorry if this has been asked and answered earlier on in this thread but after about 20 pages of trying to read through I was losing the will to live and searching did not bring anything obvious up.

Anyway...When browsing in Showcase I notice that the fanart will appear in the background after a few seconds but as soon as you move to next movie, tv show it will put the default image back.

My question is... Is it possible to have the fanart drawn as soon as you move over the movie so you dont keep having the default background drawn. Or even if it left the last viewed background there until you hold at new item long enough for it to draw that one.

I have searched and did find a post about changing a value in the infcludes file from 2000 but I found this made my system a bit jerky.

I am running the PC version of the software and my media box is a core 2 duo with 4gb mem running at 1333mhz and an ati 3870 video card so it has some grunt behind it.

Please tourettes how did you achieve this. I have every pretty much setup how I like it. Lots of XML editing these past few days. That is also bothering me especially because it draws the fanart first then puts the default background image on top of it so it redraws the background and you can notice it.

How do I change that? Thanks!

Also, how do I change the default background if I'm not on one of the choices available through the gui in Aeon-->Backgrounds ?

Hi,

I wonder if someone can help me with my Movies/TV Shows backgrund problem.

Here's how I have it now:

In the HOME menu, everything works fine and I have a slideshow running in the background with my movie backgrounds.

When I go to Movies/TV Shows I will see the original Horizonz backround and when I stay on a movie long enough, the fanart will fade into the background.

What I want:

Since I have also selected a default background I want this one showing instead of the default black and white Horizons background. Thus, when I just hover through my movies my selected background will be shown but when I stop at a movie, the fanart will fade in after a few seconds.

Note that I still want the "slideshow" in the Home menu.

I would be EXTREMELY thankful if someone knows a way to get this working.

Eish, dudes, calm down. Crazyness I'm telling you! Yes, me and BlackRose got married and ran away and I used all the donations to fund the holiday! Hehehe!

To tell you the truth, I haven't bought a PC yet. Haven't actually had the time, but rest assured, I will as soon as I get time off. Good news is, Volume IV will finally hit this weekend! I think, it's finish to an extent, but I don't want to keep you peeps waiting.

Reason I've been so distant, and popping in, is because I'm not really allowed to use the net at my new job. Remember I said I was going to start a job in january! That has happened, and for now, its long hours and a strict internet policy, but I have been using the pc to finish volume iv off!!!! got permission for when the office is quiet. So, on saturday hopefully, I'll put it up!

Sorry again for being so distint! It happens when ur trying to make an impact at a new job and working till 8 at night and on saturdays! But i'm off this weekend, so, I'll try to get into the internet cafe and put it up!!!

Now that we got that out of the way. I agree, I think the masses are getting antsy and need something to sink their teeth in. Give them something to chill them out.

I think a few things this wonderful skin really need are some kind of volume OSD, and a OSD to show the fast-forward X amount. Of course a bit of work on the TVshows would be nice also.

Phoned XB2IRIS last night, and it appears he's had a work jam again. He worked on saturday and sunday last weekend and was unable to upload anything for us mortals. They've banned internet access in his office, and he mentioned how slow the internet cafes are around he's job, so it's pointless 4 him trying to upload it with insuffiecient time, but he plans on getting it out this weekend, as his requested time off for personal matters other than our well being.

Nothing new has happened in Horizonz Volume IV, it still looks the same as Volume III with a few slight differences. So, none of those concepts are in just yet, but he said he will sort it out as soon as he can. He also said, its going to be a slow process intergrating a new look into Horizonz, but his working on a new look Glass effect similar to the new concepts, which sounds cool. Better graphics are always a good idea. He also said that Volume IV wudn't blow u away graphically, because its focused on functionality. The Feature sets as he called it! Said volume Iv may be buggy coz a lot of stuff is new and he hasn't thoroughly tested it.

So guys, be patient! It will be up soon! Hopefully very soon, I'm dying!!!

I've used Horizonz since its first release and although this isn't an Horizonz only thing it still bugs me...and that the Up a level icons.

For me one thing that spoils it is that in showcase mode (and others) the graphic to go up a level is the default no poster image.

Is there any way to change this? Would be so much better with an arrow or something.

First of all, thanks for the patience and support. It's been an age since Volume III hit these forums, and regretfully, it was a hell of a trip getting from that version to this one, for obvious reasons. First things first, thank you to all of you who have donated to the PC Fund, and made it possible to be picking up a new PC in the week. I'll also like to itterate my thanks to all the guys and girls who have kept this forum running over the last month while I've been ultra busy. Your messages, and (entertainment) have kept hope alive on this project, and I thank each and every one of your for whatever kinda post you've made, whether encouraging, excited, suggestive, or dam right crazy. And to the latest bunch of crazy conversations, dam, u guys know how to knock each other outta the ballpark. Finally BlackRose got the kinda conversation she enjoys having. LOL!!!

Anyways, so here it is, Volume IV. It has 95% of the suggestions i've made in the Feature Packs, and a few more. But sadly, I haven't had the time, or internet access, to collect the Donatees Nicks so I could put you guys in Volume IV as I promised. But you guys know who you are, so heres another Thank You from me to you. Anyways, I hope you enjoy the new release. It's probably buggy as crap, so let me know whats happening and I'll add it to my TODO list for Volume V. On a sad note, Progress will slow down a bit due to my hectic work schedule, but I'll try my best to keep things ticking with progress reports and so on. But I really can't force myself to like the new universal frame. Everything else is top notch but it's like you wrote a top class novel and farmed the ending out to Beano!

It just doesn't fit in with the rest mate.

There are only two thing wrong with this skin the update library dialogue has now vanished so you don't know if its doing it or not and wide icons in tv shows using showcase view are off when information is show.

apart from that nice skin thank you for your hard work as i know that it can be a pain to do.

OK to fix the library Update Dialogue you need to edit DialogVideoScan.xml and on line 15 change this.

I've added the xpr file to the skin (version IV) in the XBMC Favorites repo. So when you download the skin with the XBMC Favorites plugin the XBOX xpr file will be included. From the Apperance setu you'll have to choose the texture pack to use it. I've also applied the DialogVideoScan.xml patch suggested by Rocky5.

I seem to have a slight problem with the new build where in file mode under TV it will garble up the episode U W text. I can't seem to turn off that feature either. If I go to library mode it displays fine. Thanks for any help given :)

I've got a strange Problems. Fanarts are working fine. If I update a movie, covers and fanarts are being downloade where available.

But when there is not FanArt available at that time, I'm not able to get the FanArt afterwards. Even deleting the Movie from the DB won't fix this problem.

Any ideas`?

thats strange figured it would work .. but i never like "deleting" from library

i find i get MUCH better results during rescan by
1. move movie directory out of movie root
2. goto settings -> video -> clean library
3. move movie directory back into movie root
4. Scan for changes

Hi I just downloaded Version IV yesterday, and I can't get poster view to come up in Clips or Adult.

I have gone to the "view types" setting in clips and adult, and they are both highlighted and "active" but when I try to change from list to poster view on the view type, it doesn't change it stays on list.

Incorrect Paul,

When going to file-mode in your movies or tv shows, you have all the viewtypes you have in your library. Only with Clips and Adult you have just the list-viewtype. It has something to do with the variables Videoadult and videoclips in the skin. I was trying to get this fixed just last night, unsuccessful, unfortunately.

Tension113 as a fix for showcase in adult/clips if that helps, see below:

Pjh Helped me out with some files. Thanx anyway! I found the correct lines that needed to be changed (1 in custom3.xml and 1 in fullscreenviews.xml.) It's working now. And I have the same thing: I have changed a bunch of things on Horizonz so I don't know what will happen if I just share a few files. ;-)

I suppose I can share me 720p folder. I have added just about any mod you can find on this forum. In addition I did a few small things myself. I've got the "watched/unwatched" overlay fix, the extra submenu on the homescroller, to which I added several things, I added the dialog fixes from Rocky5, added his supercool new frames. Just small things, but everything is working now. If anyone's interested, and i'm not stepping on anyone's toes, I'd be happy to share.

I m going to give the Horizonz skin a try tonight because there are too many things in the MediaStream skin I don t like.

I want to know if it is possible to permanently REMOVE the TIME/DATE thing that is always present in the top right corner of a screen (and I see that this is also with the Horizonz skin). I disabled clock in the settings of XBMC but this doesn t prevent it from keep showing up.

More of my comics play now than they used to.. There was a bug that wasn't loading them depending how they were named, but that was fixed a little while back.. I really prefer viewing them in Cdisplay for now, but it looks nice browsing through them in Xbmc.. Using Cdisplay as an external player would be great..

I m running the Horizonz skin (AEON mod) and would like to know if it is possible to change something so when starting up XBMB I immediately go to Watch Movies.

I know there is a setting where you can say where XBMC will start but you can only select Video, Settings, Home Screen etc. but not Watch Movies. When I select Video as start screen I still have to click on my movies folder. But what I want is that XBMC starts up and RIGHT AWAY go to Watch Movies.

Is this possible?

Can someone explain to me some things involving Horizonz settings? My English is not so good and I don t know what those settings do and what is best to pick?

1.
Which viewtype do most of you guys use? I took a quick look and like Showcase and Info so far.

2.
In the Horizonz option the are 2 settings that can be enabled and disabled in the Home Screen settings:
- Full Screen media backdrop. <= what is this for? Best to turn on or off?
- Vignette Visual Effect <=what is this for? Best to turn on or off?

3.
In the Horizonz option there are also 2 settings that can be enabled and disabled in the System settings:
- Vignette Visual Effect (For wall, showcase and info views) <=what is this for? Best to turn on or off?
- Light Crest Special Effects <=what is this for? Best to turn on or off?

4.
And last there is the Textures setting:
- Contextual fanart in movies and TV show sections <=what is this for? Best to turn on or off?

I found a number of instances like that.. In the Homescroller file there's a reset for 'programpics', but everywhere else it's referred to as 'picturepics'

I almost have it the way I want it.. The picture and comic sections are separate from each other and I'm using the dvd frames in showcase for the comic section.. Only thing is I don't like the thumbs xbmc generates for cbr/cbz files.. Dunno how to get by that yet other than making folder.jpgs for all 2000 of my comics.. ???

Separate folders and folder.jpgs is how I organize my collection, I'm not sure of any other way

Still working on it, but here's how I have it so far.. I've realized showcase view for file mode is screwy, depending how many files are in the folder.. For whatever reason if there are less than 10 items in a folder, it won't wrap the thumbs around correctly.. Still can't figure out why..

But anyway, I found a script for the ComicRack program that extracts the first image from each comic, name's it filename.tbn, and saves it to whatever folder the comic is in.. Was able to do them all in one shot.. Only way I know how to make it work for now..

Definitively some great work on your skin edit - I really like the casings that you use around the comics and the tall versus wide stretched as well.

Comic support in XBMC just isn't marketed like all of the other 1000s of features, still a great feature for those of us that use it.

Hey all I'm sure this was mentioned some where, but I can't seem to find it. I loved the Aeon III skin, and I want to upgrade to the Horizonz IV. The problem I'm having is that I really liked the dvd case frame way better then the bulgy new frame that comes with IV. What I did was I just took the textures.xpr file from III and moved it into IV which worked. I was able to see the dvd frames now, but the problem I have now is in info mode in the library when the info shows up there's no black background behind the text so it's really hard to read. Does anyone know how else I can get the dvd frames into the Horizonz skin, so I wont have this readability problem? Thanks guys I would post an image but photobuck is currently down.

So I was messing with this some more today.. and as far as I can tell, there's no decent way to do Tv Shows in file mode.. I enabled Episode view for it, but it's kind of a cheap fix, so I think I'm just gonna scrap it and say forget file mode.. I think only one person uses it anyway..

Anyone else have any suggestions, complaints, or requests?

Nice I got it to work I reinstalled xbmc and it started to work with the v3frames lol now I have another question is there a status bar in this skin? I notice some times there's something on the bottom left but when I try to scan for new content it doesn't show up but if I use the mediastream skin I see the status bar. Does anyone know why that is? Thanks again for the help

Probably a bit of a noob question, but is there a way to change the aspect ratio for thumbnail display in list view? I've got loads of shows that don't have posters, I've got thumbnails generated from their video, but the portrait display makes them massively squashed.

Also on that note, is there a way to display wide icons for things? I know they're 'not the way forward' and such, but again for some shows they're the only things I can get. In library view they show up correctly but not in file view (I am slowly working towards using library view but honestly it's gonna take AGES before I can use it).

Why not just download cover art for those shows? XMBC has plenty of scrapers, so I'm sure you could find something. Otherwise, you could always get some pics from Google Images and place them in the appropriate folder.

When I press the play/pause button on my Apple remote, the OSD comes up and 'stop' is the default option. I find this annoying because nine times out of ten I actually want to pause, and when I stop it it's a hassle to re-start it.

Is there a way to make pause the default action on the OSD?

That does move the pause thing to the place I wanted it, but it also does this in file mode:

Could someone please post the XBOX optimized XPR? I'd love to put this one on xbmc-xbox-skins and the download links aren't working anymore.
Is it just the textures.xpr you want? if so i think i still have it lying around on somewhere, i will try to find it and send you a link. If not i will try to find time to re build the textures for da xbox:;):

Which version do you need actually ? Because, theres Paul's Horizon IV Version, and theres Horizon IV HexedMod....so tell me :p

Paul, i have a question.....im a total noob with skinning, but Horizon IV OSD is not very....how can i say...lol....i dont like it, so i would like to create a new OSD for Horizon.....can you tell me if theres some url or tutorial for skinning XBMC (excpet the wiki ones)....and can you tell me if it'll be difficult to create for noob like me :p

Yeah, only the textures. That's what I think I need to be able to run it on the XBOX, but correct me if I'm wrong! Horizon IV is still available for download.

It would be great if I could permanently document this skin on xbmc-xbox-skins. Your help would be highly appreciated :)

i just installed my horizonz on my xbox and it is beautiful!!!! awesome work, keep it up.

couple of questions if you guys can help..

- i have managed to add the folder to my movie folder and scape them fine. when i try to do the same for tv shows though, it doesnt work. how do i reset all of the settings so i can do it over again? i am guessing that the database got corrupted somehow, strange though since movies folder updates fine.

- should i use the option FORCE XBOX MODE or not?

- a couple of posts back, someone asked about media flagging. i didnt really understood the answer :P i am guessing that its not possible to have media flags in xbox?
