its in the SVN now if you want to check it out, I haven't had a thorough look yet but my initial impression is its basically pm3 but with new, sharper textures and fonts, and a few view tweaks here and there for better use of fanart etc. It's definitely evolutionary not revolutionary, not to knock all the hard work it really looks amazing. New sounds too, those are cool.

And that is exactly all it was meant to be just trying to make it look better in HD so all the textures were not blurred as much

Don't get me wrong JezzX I love pm3 and I love pm3.HD even more, I just wanted to allay any fears people might have that it would be different enough to cause a significant amount of relearning.

its the pm3 you know and love but sharper and shinier, three cheers for jezz and the team!

Oh yeah I didn't for a second think you were complaining. I was just also telling the public officially don't expect anything radically new.

The main reasons for it was to crisp up the images in Hidef and to put in some better mouse controls for Windows, OSX and LINUX Users checking out XBMC for the first time. (if you have mouse enabled in settings new things appear to make it easy to do things)

Even though I personally think mouse and HTPC = silly, it helps with first impressions

I just changed the line below "ECHO Creating XPR File..." to:

"CALL XBMCTex -input media -output media -noprotect"

but make sure you have XBMCtex.exe in the folder....it seemed to work for me.

hey Jezz X whats up? great skin I love all the work you do. Just an observation, with this skin there is no Programs Tab, I know XBMC is kinda leaving the XBox and moving towords just a Media Center Program but in the windows version of just PMIII we have the option to add the Programs Tab, could that be added? as i mainly use my xbox for xbmc (have the HD AV pack and a 50" 720p samsung plasma so it looks amasing) however sometimes i do use my Emulators like Zsnes etc. So the program tab is kinda esential, Right now i just went into the default pmIII and added all my EMUs as favorites and then went back but this is just a temp work around. I completely understand if you dont want o add it its your work just figured it would make a suggestion,

Thanks

Jezz,

FYI, the skin comes up all black with no controls for me on a SVN build compiled via make install. Tried reinstalling clean, a clean userdata, moving the skin to ~/.xbmc subdir, etc. No dice.

I forgot to reply to this one :) Basically the skin was made for the OSX, Linux and Win32 versions of XBMC currently they cannot launch any programs in any official way so I had no need to put in the windows to do so. I do realize that its been put into the main xbox build now but this is the reason why we still have the old PM3 kicking around in the svn so people don't loose anything they had before (including 4x3 support)

I should and does look like this for me on both win32 and linux ( I have not tested this on xbox ) But I'm sure the other team members would of mentioned it since they have used it for weeks on different platforms. :\

HOLY NICE$#@%!@#$ AWESOME

Awesome work. I love the mouse support and refinement in general. This is probably the best default skin for new users. I thought PM3 was left in the dust but this new release screams.

Dang, what a hard choice. PM3 is a good balance of sexy+functional but probably leaning more on functional. Media stream is the opposite IMO.

If we could only get the best of both worlds...

Its not in the skin manager because its not in the skinning SVN its in the XBMC svn meaning all future versions of xbmc should come with it (unless people take it out)

I tried this skin out last night and it looks pretty good. The fonts look a little small though. The movie fanart looked good, but the TV fanart wasn't working. I looked in the settings to see if was turned on and I couldn't find the option there.

Jezz, I've got one remaining issue with PM3.HD. When you show the controls (the cross-shaped control with FF, REW, audio, bookmarks, etc) in the old PM3 it also displayed the current position within the video in the upper right corner. I was accustomed to this behavior and miss it. Any reason why it was removed? Any chance we could get an option to show it again?

Also, how do users run "program" plugins under PM3.HD?

TV fanart only seems to work at episode level, not at season level. and the fanart view must be selected. its is enabled by default so there is no option to turn it on or off in settings.

And is there a way to build the skin without having to have all the prerequisites for compiling XBMC?

jmarshall
2008-09-21, 12:32
All you need is XBMCTex if you want a packaged textures.xpr - it's available from the xbmc/tools/XBMCTex folder from SVN:

http://xbmc.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/xbmc/trunk/XBMC/tools/XBMCTex/

EDIT: Note that you'll have to change the path in the skin's build.bat accordingly.

Jonathan

Programs has gone.... :(

Just as I finished copying all my xbox games to my xbox and moved all the movies to a central server...

Anyway even a programs button could be added? just for the xbox perhaps? like the old scripts button...

simply create a favorite of your games source when in another skin

then switch back to PM3.HD and it will apear in you favorites list still.

Having some problems using PM3.HD on my xbox, I have downloaded the latest build, and it is in the files that I FTP'd across to my FTP., however I can not find it in the skins options.

Thanks in advance

If you downloaded the skin from the SVN, then, before you can use it, you have to run the build.bat script to compile the skin. It will be one of the files that is downloaded from the SVN. After running the script, you will have a new folder named "BUILD". Inside this will be the "PMIII.HD" folder that you need to copy to the xbox.

If you don't already have it, you will also need to download XBMCTex.exe, which is available via SVN here:

http://xbmc.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/xbmc/trunk/XBMC/tools/XBMCTex/

Depending on where you store XBMCTex on your harddrive, you'll need to edit build.bat to reflect your structure, accordingly. The easiest thing to do is to just put a copy inside the same folder as the build.bat, and edit the path listed in build.bat:

FIND
..\..\Tools\XBMCTex\XBMCTex

REPLACE WITH
XBMCTex
