A little late to the party. Just got XBMC installed and I have a quick question.
Is there a way to sort the files alphabetically regardless of whether it's a file or a folder?
Default:
That (folder)
There (folder)
This (folder)
Them (file)
These (file)
Those (file)
What I want:
That (folder)
Them (file)
There (folder)
These (file)
This (folder)
Those (file)
I only have 2 entries in my video sources - dvd and a smb share. The smb share is what I'm trying to organize. I have multi-part videos in folders along side single-part videos. Or would have to put them all in folders?
Thanks

I do not think that is currently possible ???
If someone else can confirm then please submit a new feature request ticket on trac

Personally I would find it annoying, so should be made optional if implemented
PS! I know that Boxee does this by default, and there it is not option to change it.

Ok, Thanks Gamester.
I didn't think it would be since I don't think I've ever seen it in an OS (or havn't looked until now) - but I had to ask :)
It would be very cool if it was a option that could be toggled on/off though! I recorded allot of Discovery programs on a WHS box and all the ones with more than one episode are at the top while the rest are underneath.
So "Life Of Mammals - BBC" (10 parts) will appear before "Big Cats - BBC" (1 part) etc by default. But if I put them both in folders it will fix it. Trying to avoid more clickies.
I'll have to checkout that "Boxee" thing.
Thanks

Sort by File?
I tried that yesterday with my fingers crossed, but it still arranges them by folders and then files.
Thanks though.
Then we have a bug.
Same happens for me in a recent Windows build.

I used the latest T3CH release for xbox if that makes any difference: http://t3ch.yi.se/.
If it's a bug, I look forward to it being squashed :)
Thanks

Good to know! :P
I've been so involved in personalizing and testing that I forgot to say that I'm extremely impressed with the interface and amount of video codecs supported. I showed a friend it and now I have 3 Xbox's in my room waiting to be modded. Not sure if XBMC is a blessing or a curse :)
No, for real - very, very impressed!
This appears to work if not using stacking, but does not work when stacking is on.
My understanding from this and other threads is that I should be able to sort my videos "by File" in File mode to have files and folders all sorted together. If Stacked is set on, then this simply redefines some folders as files according to stacking rules, and still the resultant real files, stacked "files", and folders should be sorted together.
I am using the latest T3CH release, "XBMC SVN 2008-11-13 (13th of November 2008) rev16144 ATLANTIS *FINAL*" on an Xbox.
Can anyone help.
Thanks heaps
