I'm really liking this software, and it runs perfect on all of my systems except for the one I actually want to hook up to the TV. I get this funny crap happening with the screen that I can only explain with the picture below. Any ideas? Thanks.

Strangely, this problem has happened to me with an really old ATI driver, but it didn't occur with 8.8 -- on a Mobility X1600, by the way.

please try this:
create the following file:
~UserData/advancedsettings.xml
and paste this in it:
<advancedsettings>
<glrectanglehack>yes</glrectanglehack>
</advancedsettings>

Sorry, didn't work for me. Still need teh old OpenGL dll. BTW, the default visualization for Music is broken with that dll.....might just get an Nvidia card to avoid the whole issue ;-)

I had the same problem with my ATI Radeon 9550. Tried all the above (plus some more things) but nothing seemed to fix it.
But then I updated my drivers... and it did (by the way, latest driver version is just 4-5 days old, so maybe they just fixed the bug)
I have ATI 1150
same as it...
And This file can get this screen right
[use bbs search , find "atioglxx_xp_7.4.DLL" & copy it same dir xbmc.exe]

Can confirm that Catalyst 8.9 has fixed this for me as well.

Hey all. First time poster to this forum, so bear with me.
First things first. I want to thank the XBMC team for a great app. I've used a lot of HTPC software products in the past, from Meeio to MythTV to MeediOS. All are great, but don't match the speed, clean interface, and ease of use that XBMC provides.
I just wanted to give back a little since I saw this same "video in upper left corner" issue with an ATI Express 1250 onboard video proc.
I have the HiperMedia "Advanced HTPC" unit with onboard ATI graphics (http://www.hipergroup.com/products.php?lv=3&cate=2&type=27&pid=124). Great case BTW. Anyway, I installed a fresh copy of Vista Ultimate and used the ATI drivers that came on the utilities CD with the PC. I then installed XBMC Atlantis Beta 1 and noticed the "video in left corner" issue right away. I then upgraded my ATI drivers to Catalyst 8.9. This seemed to fix the video in the left corner issue, but every time I stopped the video and went back to the library, the XBMC app fonts were "blurry" and unreadable. I had to manually reload the skin to clear this up. I tried using the "glrectanglehack" hack as well, but got the same problem.
So, after half a day of messing with it, I decided to install Vista Ultimate fresh and NOT install the ATI drivers that came with the PC. Instead I went straight to using the Catalyst 8.9 drivers from AMD/ATI's website and WHAM! Everything worked perfectly. I didn't need the "glrectanglehack" hack in place either.
Sorry for being long winded. Hope this helps others with this issue.
