I've been going through forums and google/FAQs for the past few hours, so I finally decided to sign up and ask for some help rather than keep trying and throwing my xbox out the window..

The simplest way to put it is, I can't get the library to work. I can set the content of folders, and tell it to scan, but nothing ever gets retrieved. If I try to 'Get Movie/TV show Info', it brings up a box asking me for the movie/show name, which I enter, and then click OK and it just keeps popping up a box for a few seconds and then coming right back to the window to enter the name of the movie/show

All I've managed to do is manually add a video to the library, but it won't retrieve any info or anything on it..

I'm really at a complete and total loss for what to do. I'm generally not a noob when it comes to anything computer-related, and can find my way around/google well enough to get the answers I need (I've been using computers since I was 4, and knew my way around english DOS before I even spoke english), so I'm really, really getting frustrated at nothing working..

None of the FAQs I've read seem to have any information, and I haven't found anyone with any similar problems..

I'm running the latest T3CH build if that'll help.. I've tried re-naming a lot of stuff to see if that helps, but re-naming still doesn't scan/retrieve the info..

Any help would be incredibly appreciated!

your network is obviously malconfigured.

most likely dns or gateway

I just thought of that, and checked, and sure enough the DNS wasn't set right (which fixed up my 'weather not refreshing' problem), but I still can't seem to get it to detect/retrieve any info on anything.. I'm really totally confused and lost for the first time when it comes to anything technological!

ok, I'm not seeing an edit option, so sorry for double posting (A lot of boards really frown on that), but I seem to have it figgured out..

For some reason, I needed to re-enter all of my network info for it to work properly..

Now, for the fun part of building up the library!

Things always seem too good to be true sometimes...

Now I've got it finding the movie/show information fine.. But now I can't seem to be able to add anything to the library!

I've had it automaticaly get all the info for shows/movies that I have, but nothing shows up in the library.

If I'm in a TV show folder, when I white-button on the first episode, it doesn't show the "manualy add to library" option, but on every other episode it does..

Similarly, with movies that it's scanned and gotten info for, I can't manualy add to library, and they're not apearing in the library..

When you couldn't get it working before, did you change any settings or make an advancedsettings.xml or delete anything?

How are you naming your TV show episodes?

In this circumstance, i'd usualy just try a delete/fresh install of xbmc.

I feel like a total idiot.. When I finally managed to get it to scan stuff and turn on Library mode, nothing was showing up at all... Because I hadn't noticed the 'All Videos/Watched/Unwatched' box was set to 'Watched', and since this is a fresh install on a new HD, nothing had been watched yet, so nothing was showing up..

Thanks for putting up with me :P
