It's that time of week again when we can output the fixes and updates we've been working on over the last 7 days. As usual you can get the skin with the latest T3CH release (should be out any time now I hope) or direct from our website, http://teamrazorfish.co.uk
Changes since the last time are as follows:
Added: Initial code for handling 4x3 aspect ratio displays (primarily fonts and Media Preview view so far)
Added: fanart to files mode
Added: Option to hide fanart for files mode
Added: Shutdown/Sleep Timer
Added: Thumb image for resume bookmark
Added: Missing thumb image for Panel Stream view
Added: Polish translation (thanks to haken)
Updated: Tidied up bookmarks display in Video OSD
Updated: AMT (due to script changes)
Updated: Default background image for DVD
Updated: fonts for foreign language characters (as before we need feedback if there's any issues)
Updated: Swedish, Greek, Dutch and German translations
Fixed: Positioning of context menu when thumbs are hidden in list view
Fixed: Displaying of weather on home at startup
Fixed: Displaying of star rating in Media Preview view
As you can see form the above list this release is the first release since we started work on specific 4x3 support. It's early days for this so we're not looking for people to tell us which parts are still not working. Currently the only screen that I would say should work is the Media Preview view as that's the only one that has been converted properly. The Home screen, Settings, the rest of the media views and all the dialogs have yet to be properly converted so some may work but a lot won't look as good as they will when we're done. Now that the process has started though we have a structure in place so conversion of the rest of the screens etc shouldn't take too long.
If you have any feedback on the 4x3 version of the Media Preview view please post it but hold off on the feedback for other 4x3 stuff until we've developed it a bit further.
As ever we rely on the feedback from users to make sure we are developing the skin in the right manner so please feel free to give us any constructive ffedback you think might help.
PLEASE NOTE: The skin is being developed based on the latest version of XBMC (T3CH release for Xbox and update to date builds for other platforms) so please make sure you have the latest version before posting about any problems.
Just to let you know - the MediaFire link is set to private.

very cool update fanart in file mode is very good addition to a very polished and professional skin that has exceeded expectations.
It makes me want to buy a big tv as On my current set the text is even smaller now than it before as I have no font options in 4.3 mode. For my 22 inch tv it needs to at least doubled in size for the media info for tv shows and movies.
The get movie and tv show info dialogues have very small text and buttons to. A small increase in all the other fonts is need to avoid eye strain on a smaller screens

Excellent stuff. Will try this out later tonight!
v1.0 will be here in no time
Quick question for the author or any other users- When a video is designated as a movie, it shows up in the Movies section (whereas TV shows do not). However, the movies also show up in the TV Shows section! Is there any way to avoid this? I kind of thought the purpose of having a "watch you MOVIES vs. TV SHOWS" section was to keep them apart? If I'm missing something, please clue me in. Thanks!

I'm not sure why you are experiencing that issue .. sounds more like a db issue .. how old is your db file .. might be worth modifying your db or removing your existing db stuff and doing a new update.

Sorry, turns out I should have read more before posting. This thread http://xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=36497 had exactly the answer I needed.
And for any lazy people, the answer was "Clean Library" under library settings. Turns out that sometimes file designations get more than one category until cleaned up. I won't pretend to understand WHY, but I know the fix works! ;)
Great to hear it worked out .. hope you enjoy the skin.

Could you create an RSS for these releases?

Great update! I really like the fanart in fileview, looks really nice. I wish I could see them on folder-level aswell.
I have my movies like:
MOVIES(folder)
--MOVIENAME(folder)
----MOVIEFILE
But I only see the fanart when I move into the MOVIENAME(folder) and select MOVIEFILE. I wish I could see it when I have MOVIENAME(folder) selected, so it works the same way as with thumbs.
Donīt know if itīs possible though...
Thanks for your great work!
Take them out of their seperate folders?
It's not practical to take them out of their folders if you have them in multipart archives.

Exactly! I should have mentioned that, they are kept in rar-archives, so it would be a total mess to move them out of their original folders.
As this is based around the latest T3CH builds is T3CH compiling weekly while the Alpha testing is going ahead? Definately want to use the latest version with the skin.. in the first post it says that it should be out anytime soon... anyone from TeamRazorfish got heads up?

Nothing more than it'll hopefully be coming soon I'm afraid

Sorry to see that you are having issues with the foreign characters. Time for me to do a bit more research and see exactly whats going on.

JustMeD is going to look at the chars but for the clock, can you tell me which language you are using? I've done lots of tests with different time formats but you seem to be using a time format I've not tested. :oo:
I had a problem with this release stretching the font and certain views on my plasma TV. I'm guessing it's the new 4:3 features coming into effect.
It's probably to do with some auto-detection of screen resolutions because mine is 1024x768 which is a 4:3 ratio for monitors but it's 16:9 for plasma TVs with non-square pixels.
I had this problem before (see here (http://xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=34724)) but it got fixed.

I'm using swedish but the clock shadow is only misplaced between 0:00 and 9:59am
first of all, big big thanks for your absolutly great skin.
to the release:
weather on startup still doesnt work for me. i have first to refresh my hometown, then it will be displayed.
how are the plans for a 1080i (lite) version of this skin? i prefer this resolution, and i think some others too.

Fixed it by deleting the PAL folder.
Any chance you could make 16:9 the default and have the skin only switch to 4:3 mode via an option?

720p is the default res for both 16:9 and 4:3, it should only pick up the font from the 4:3 folder if XBMC thinks your resolution would be best displayed with a 4:3 skin. I think you'll just need to delete the PAL folder as you have done to stop it using the PAL font and dimensions.
I think there should be a few more view for music. Like some of the ones in pm3
Are u considering implementing a few more? I know its no point in having 1000 of views but i think a couple of more would be nice
Hi,
I'd like to ask if this skin would work on an SDTV (PAL) set with 16:9 aspect ratio? Granted, that sounds pretty legacy compared to neat HDTV sets, but as HDTV broadcasts didn't pick up momentum here in Germany in the last couple of years a lot of XBMC users I know still go with there PAL screens.
After seeing the screenshots I've to admit that I'm strongly tempted to switch from PM3 to this skin. Excellent work!
It appears to work okay.
I have to say.. I'm on a SD 4:3, and i'm stunned with how good your work is on the new 4:3! Fantasic.
As a systems analyst, say the word and i'll raise issues against the 4:3 version.

I just tested the skin (0.89) which came bundled with the latest t3ch release (SVN rev15293) on my PAL 16:9 100Hz Samsung TV set.
The first impression was possitive, yet I had to switch back to PM3 for the following reasons:
- The font is to small, changing the font ("Bigger" or "Massive" if I recall it correctly) doesn't seem to have any effect. Thus most of the text was hard to read or even unreadable (f.e. the plot details in the movie section).
- Some characters flicker stronger than in PM3 (f.e. "m"). Even with the flicker filter turned on (level 2) it's noticeable, changes in the level of the flicker filter didn't stop this. That might be related to the typographical structure of the used font, as it effects only certain letters.
If this can be changed by editing some config files I'd be glad to do more testing if pointed to the necesarry steps. Otherwise I think I'll have to wait for another release.

I'm also using a 16:9 PAL TV (32") and found even the 'massive' font set to be far too tiny to comfortably read. However, I recently used the script by chapado on this thread (http://xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=36208) to bump up all the fonts by 5pt. Everything is now clearly legible, and for the most part it does not mess up the aesthetic of the skin, though there is the occasional overlap of text on load/buffering screens (but this is something I can live with if it makes the difference between being able to use this fantastic skin, and not being able to use it)
Thanks procratinator (*g*) for the hint. I will test it asap. Did you notice any differences when switching between the fonts? On my TV set (32" too) I wasn't even shure if it did change the fonts.

to be honest I don't think I really did notice a change. If there was one there it was (in my opinion) definitely a small one, and certainly didn't make the text legible on my SDTV
Glad I could help. Though the real credit must go to chapado (thanks!) :)

sorry, just re-read your post Halo 3 - hope i answered your question. In the last post I was talking about before I bumped up the font size with that script (couldn't see any difference then).
Just had a go with the script-modified font.xml installed and it appeared that the 3 text size optioned made absolutely no difference. I'm no programmer, so not sure if this is a result of running the script or whether it's some kind of bug. I'm not going to report it as a bug though as I haven't actually updated to 0.89 yet (still on 0.88) so that may have changed.
BTW please don't chastise me for posting in the 0.89 even though I'm on 0.88 - just throwing in my 2 cents on a problem which seems to still exist for those of us still on old-skool teles!

No problem, it still seems that it's an issue for some.
As I keep saying though I can't just increase all fonts sizes across the skin as it would break the design in a lot of places. So if you want me to increase font sizes then I need to know exactly where the font sizing is wrong (screenshots or detailed descriptions please) and how much of an increase is needed.
It might take a while to get there but if I can get people to give me the detailed info I need then I'm sure we'll get there
Well,
just had a long posting prepaired, but I got disconnected inbetween. So here is a short summary (testing on 32" 16:9 PAL TV with latest t3ch and MediaStream).
Fonts for "plot details" of movies etc. are too small. Same holds true for the navigation buttons on top of the window that open upon pressing "INFO" on the remote after selecting a movie ("Plot", "Cast", etc.).
Fonts in the "Settings/System" area are a little bit too small, the options (f.e. "Skin", "Font", "Flicker Filter" in "Settings>Appearance") are hard to read. Some additional pix might be enough.
A possible bug in the "infolist" viewing mode when browsing movies/videos (the mode with the "Shooter" icon). It should show the thumbnail on the left, details in the middle, a scrolling bar, and the list of the movies/videos on the right. When I access the list of movies/videos through the "Show your Movies" (i.e. library mode I suppose) submenue the infolist mode works fine. However if I'm using the "Show your Videos" mode, the infolist mode seems to be broken, as the details in the middle aren't shown.
It might be intentional, but if so this behaviour is inconsistent imho.
I'll keep on playing around with it to see if I can come up with more points, but I don't think I got time for it tomorrow.
Again thanks for all the work you guys from the team razorfish put into the new skin!

Does anyone know how to get fanart to show up in the background when viewing movies in the library under media preview mode? I have plex on my laptop and I believe it was setup to do this by default and now I can't figure it out for my xbmc on my vista htpc. Thanks in advance.
Open the System menu and select the INFO option
Thanks mate.
This skin is fantastic, currently my full-time skin. Any chance of a corresponding Webserver skin? Pretty please? ;)

I can't find the shutdown timer. And to boot, I can't get the "Play DVD" option to work to play a movie dvd. When I try to play a DVD, the xbox freezes.
Problems:
1) no shutdown timer
and
2) can't play DVD movies
