Post bugreports and Suggestions here. (thread recreated, accidentially deleted)

i get this error... when in the library for tv shows, if i select refresh, whether i choose yes or no, it refreshes.

In the Apple Movie Trailers Plugin, I can't see the movie posters. they are just not there. I'm using the skin on Plex. I dunno, that might make a difference.

Just a suggestion, but could anyone make some backgrounds that fit the home layout more? Center themes BG's dont look as good as expected when applied.

Coverflow for Music and Films please :-)

This skin is great as are lots of others but I always go back to Xtv after a short time as I think coverflow is the perfect interface for browsing and playing music.

Hey UA...this was always going to be a concern for us, and one that we knew would bite us in the ass.

Essentially, in order to achieve this we would need to create an entire aeon-esque library with wallpapers that fit our navigation. To me this seems a little counter productive, and I dont want to be forking out money as DJH does for the images...there's also a sense of not reinventing the wheel.

One thing we are contemplating is a toggeable option to have the blade sitting more to the left, so that the centre-point of the bgs are not covererd up. This is being looked at as a new option.

Oh and does anyone else notice while using the skin xbox side that poster views (Showcase?) is a little "skippy" when going from movie poster to movie poster? I assume it's probably smoothe as hell on linux, but on the xbox not so much ..

Out of all the ones I have I've only found a few that look OK (Miami Vice & Bones) but that's fine by me. Same on Win32.

Just installed this and caught a bug - but first, may I please compliment the entire team on this amazing piece of work. I'm blown away with how polished this is, my hat is off to all of you.

Bug: Video Calibration causes odd Font issue

To Reproduce:
- Settings / Video / Player
- Video Calibration
- Exit Video Calibration

Taking the steps above causes the font to increase in size dramatically and ruins the lovely appearance of MediaStream.

I also crashed it when I enabled a Custom Background "Folder" and it appeared to be trying to rotate the background image each time I changed screens. After about 5 screens it froze the Xbox and I had to reboot. Let me know if you'd like me to pull logs.

Once again - my thanks to the team, this is my new standard skin, it truly makes XBMC look slick.

Could you up a screenshot of the bizarre fonts as I tried this on the SDL build and couldn't reproduce it.

My bad guys - don't know what the deal was here. I reproduced it 3 times in a row, but now (I've since rebooted) it isn't occuring. Must have been a gremlin, or perhaps a very specific set of steps I took. I'll let you know if it occurs again.

Looks like you have a hella mess there. Try a lower resolution then if that doesn't work try to reinstall the skin and clear the cache folder.

Are you sure that's our skin? Why is it loading the language stuff from MC360?

First off, great skin. Been running it a few hours and it certainly lived up to the pre-hype. I just have a few suggestions.

First of all it's terrible hard to select a subtitle from the audio settings menu. The slideout settings panel is blocking the view. Perhaps moving the file selection dialog to the left and making it a bit smaller or auto hide the audio settings panel when browsing for subtitles (if this is technical possible atm)

Adding a IMDB Top250 # besides the rating column in the video library when displaying a movies information as seen on other skins.

I would also like to second the suggestion of a coverflow view to the library.

When you are presented with the Numeric pad (etc when selecting a password protected profile) it would be nice if it defaults to focus on the enter/ok button instead of the '5' key. Aeon is par example doing this and iv'e tried to compare the DialogNumeric.xml from Aeon with yours but I can't seem to figure out what controls the default focus.

Just a few suggestions which I think would make this already great skin even better.

Just installed MediaStream on an XBox, using a Tech release XBMC from June (I think).

Little things I noticed:

1. When I first selected "Videos" the view option was "Showcase" (with the horizontal icons). Bring up the context menu, and the view options are "Showcase | List | Info List". Select list, then bring up the context menu again. This time the view options are only "List | List Info". I cannot get showcase view back.

2. In the "Image Stream" view mode of "Pictures": there is a horizontal array of folders along the bottom of screen. When I hold down the right/left scroll button, the horizontal array moves up and down the screen. Weird.

3. "Image Stream" in Pictures is kinda counter-intuitive. The background changes to the current picture in the horizontal scroller, then the scroller fades and the background image remains. But this image is very low quality. The first thing my wife said was "why does the picture look so fuzzy?". It's not obvious that you need to click "OK" to actually get the actual hi-quality image. I understand why a low-quality background image is used (for fast loading and scrolling), but once the icon disappears perhaps the hi-quality image should load?

There's been a problem with the original bug and suggestions thread but don't worry I managed to take a note of most of your suggestions and bug reports before it disappeared so they should still be dealt with.

Please report any further suggestions/bug reports in this thread and when we release the next version we'll detail everything that has been fixed/added.

Issue 1. When you selected Showcase it became the active view so is no longer need in the list. So if you select another view mode you will see Showcase again. Whilst in that view if you have selected the view mode you like just press left to escape that menu.

Issue 2. Not sure why that is happening to you as that isn't normal behaviour. Can you try with the latest T3CH build as it may relate to an alter version of XBMC.

Issue 3. We can look into what options are available here. The main issue is that we are dealing with both folders and images in the scroller so with regards that large preview image I'm not whats possible. I'll chat to skunk about that one.

ekurin: Not sure why you are having that issue with the browse for subtitles panel as it should be overlaid on top of the settings panel.

Under movie information, there doesn't seem to be a link to add movie fanart. If I go back to Aeon and add the movie fanart under movie information it shows when I go back to Mediastream. Am I missing something here?

hired goon: Most of your problems will be fixed by updating to a newer version of XBMC I believe. This skin (as many do nowadays) uses things that have been either added or fixed very recently (on the order of a couple of weeks).

jayman978: Probably because the possibility to use the button as only been in SVN for 2 days and they've been busy polishing other stuff - I'm sure it'll make it to the next release.

Team Razorfish: Very nice work - try out the largeimage for the movie fanart - it'll remove the juddering when moving from one item to the next.

Thanks for the skin The "media preview" view is very beautiful especially with the star rating.

I have one suggestion. How about add a "view trailer" button like in itunes somewhere to the right of the star rating. Then reassign the sliding menu to down button so when you click up you can select the trailer button. I think that would be perfect.

Initially "Showcase" is the active view with "List" and "List Info" available for selection. Once I selected "List", then "List" becomes the active view and only "List Info" is available for selection. If I later select "List Info" then "List Info" is the active view and only "List" is available for selection. "Showcase" is not available for selection.

Just installed XBMC-SVN_2008-07-28_rev14439-T3CH and have the same issues.

I'm not sure what is possible either -- but from a user perspective it looks like the background image displayed is the final view. The horizontal scroller with icons is on the bottom, the background changes to the image represented by the currently selected icon, then the icons disappear and the screen is showing the full image.

The UI says here's the icon, and now here's the full image. But this image is low quality. There's an extra hidden step (on my remote it is to click the "OK" button) to replace one full background image with another (the hi-quality version).

hired_goon: It loads a lowres version (the thumb) then loads the highres version over the top - if it is not doing so, then 07-28 may simply be too old (SVN changes very, very quickly).

I have an issue that i'm not sure has been mentioned. In my Movies Library view, I clicked the IMDB setup options, and entered a movie name. Now a 'blank' movie has appeared in my library, and I can't get rid of it.

There's a current bug where fonts get messed up if you have different resolutions for the GUI and video playback.

Nope, it definitely disappears after you select a different view.

I'm also having the problem with "Showcase" view in TV Shows. Once I've selected another view, the showcase view disappears and does not show up again (Currently running under XBMC_PC).

I'd also like to see an option where one can turn of the thumb overlays (unwatched blue circle).

The more I play with this the more I think it rocks. Excellent job!

when in file mode for music, when you have a song where the length of its title is wider than the allowed area (I'm running @ 720i if it helps) the song title scrolls but it seems the scrolling text is running slightly out of sync somehow so the text is blurry and unreadable.

Question about the scrolling fields. Would it be possible to have a toggle to completely disable side-scrolling on long fields? I mentioned the Now Playing box having some scrolling issues as well, so perhaps disabling them would be a good solution. I just ask because I've got no need for side-scrolling fields. If they go too long, I won't read them anyway.

Looks like a few people have come across this 'bug'. The Showcase view is a view for movies when in library mode. If you see for other media or in other areas initially it's because the id for that view is the same as the id you used in another skin. Once you have selected another view then it disappears from the list since it shouldn't really have been there in the first place. I guess the real question is should the Showcase view (or similar) be made available for other areas, anyone have an opinion on that?

As JM says the fuzzy image is actually a low quality thumbnail of the picture and that should then be replaced by a higher quality version of the picture once it has a chance to load, it could be that the thumbs are local and load really quickly but the original picture is on a different drive and taking longer to load than the time you are giving it?

Keeping up to date with the very latest version of XBMC is always advisable to make sure it's not something that has alredy been fixed in a lter version.

We want to keep the navigation in media views as simple as possible and adding buttons to the views moves away from that simplicity. If you click on info there is a trailer button in the info dialog. What we could do is add a label/image to show that a trailer is available for the current movie?

I'm pretty sure it's not the skin that added a movie, can you try looking at it with another skin and see if it happens there too?

Thx for the response on said issues. You guys work fast. As for the "Showcase view"...hmmm... now that I've looked more closely, I think I was getting something more like the "Media Preview" view - the episode info was displayed above a film strip thumb set below. You cycled threw the film strip thumbs and the info above changed. I thought it was cool, but once another view had been selected it was history. Aeon had a similar view I thought. I would've used this view I think if I had the choice.

As you can see there's been a bit of a problem with the bugs/suggestions thread. blittan has managed to resurect some of it and we already have a track of all the relevant bugs/suggestions in our own tracker so things should still be dealt with.

We'll keep posting details of what's been fixed/added and will have proper release notes when the next release comes out.

Feel free to add new bugs/suggestions and we'll endeavour to deal with them as quickly as possible.

This has now been fixed for the next release and I've also updated it so that it will be using largeimage controls for the fanart background which should make the transitions smoother in the movies library.

You guys did a wonderfull job, I can see the hard work throught some many nice and smooth details.

I have some comments/bugs: (sorry for my rusty English I'm Dutch;))

When running on xbox, default the "now playing" window is hiding (in Home screen).
Would be nice to be showing up when returning to home screen.

I noticed when watching a TV-Episode (*.avi) that when want jump forward, it doesn't. It brings up the menu bar up at the bottom. (worked with all other skins)

When I'm browsing TV-Shows in "File" mode, first time I saw view mode show case, but after selecting a different view I cannot choose it again. (Same in library mode) Can i also suggest some more views?

When I'm using custom backgrounds, when i'm scrolling through they home screen, I see it for a small time then the background is black.

May I suggest showing weather info in the same textlabel as the clock, just like Aeon. Like an option in skin-options (choosable)

When choosing manualy a subtitle (like looking it up in a *.rar) the window where you browse is with big thumbs, may I suggest to show only the text labels (list view).

This was tested on Xbox version of XBMC.

It's with an xbox remote, jumping is working on file mode, but not working under library mode.

I think it's not an loading problem, the image shows up for a few seconds an then it disapears, background is black for a while, then after 10/15 seconds a new background is showing.

I've gone back to using the standard backgrounds for this skin but have some suggestions I think would balance out the whole main menu look.

TV SHOWS - Shift the image so the TV screen is more to the right and then it's not covered up (also, if possible, change what's displayed on the screen - the old BBC test card is a bit naff IMO).

ON/OFF - definitely needs the on/off button shifted to the right because as it's stands right now you can hardly even see it.

DVD - a totally different picture is needed I think because there's nothing shown on the left and what's on the right isn't really recognisable.

Hope that doesn't come across as sounding too harsh because all the other ones are perfect.

First of all thanx to the team Razorfish for the great job!

I confirm that while playing some video files (.avi) there is no possibility to jump or fast forward / rewind. In few words there is no control other then stopping them.

Some information:
- I tested it on xbox
- It happens always and only on certain video files: at the moment I did not identify a common element between them connected to the bug.
- I use the remote control
- The bug happens ONLY when the screen resolution (system, not video player settings) is set to 1080i. If I set the screen resolution at 720p and video player settings are at 1080i the controls work fine: in this case the problem is that when exiting from video playback all graphics are messed up because the screen resolutions does no revert back to 720p (so the fonts are huge).

A little suggestion: main blade items fonts size could be reduced little, increasing space between them; this will give a less crowdy effect and a more "classy" design.

I just noticed that there is no "log out <current user>" option in the "On/Off" menu, although it's possible to get almost the same result by using "Reload XBMC".

just to let you know that I've done somne premlim artwork to bring the blade and sub-blade more over to the left of the screen. This will allow for more of the bg to be shown. - I tested it on xbox
- The bug happens ONLY when the screen resolution (system, not video player settings) is set to 1080i. If I set the screen resolution at 720p and video player settings are at 1080i the controls work fine: in this case the problem is that when exiting from video playback all graphics are messed up because the screen resolutions does no revert back to 720p (so the fonts are huge).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the general rule to never run 1080 mode on the Xbox since it just can't handle it? I've also read this issue with other skins, where the resolutions are different in video and system and it messes up the fonts, so there's a good chance that's an XBMC bug and not a MediaStream bug. Can you try the same thing in another skin and see if the same issue occurs? I'd also recommend doing a debug log since if it is an XBMC issue they'll need that.

Is it a skin bug that artwork for new movies are saved in very low resolution? Even when I put a .tbn with resolution 1000px height in the movie folder, the resolution is cropped to like 400px height.

Found a bug.
Every Stacked movie I try to play from movie library (Movie CD1.avi + Movie CD2.avi) doesnt work
If its a single file, then works perfect.

Xbox and last T3CH build. Others skins works nice.

Xbox handles perfectly 1080i mode (try xtV skin i.e.).
The font "bug" is surely related to XBMC and not the skin. It occurs always whatever different resolution you have between system (screen) and video settings.

In my previous post I meant to underline that at 1080i (screen and video resolution) the skin is wonderful and movies' playback is excellent, but with some files (dunno why) controls for jump / fast forward simply don't work, as said by IIINeOIIINL in a previous post. With all other skins, on same files and same resolution they work.

Great work on the new skin. Very sleek. The animation timings seem fine from my POV and it's pretty damn smooth even on the XBox.

We've been using the Videos menu to play content through the myth:// protocol and my other half doesn't understand why she now needs to go to another list to choose "MYTH" to then get to the recordings (been using Aeon for a while now and that allowed single click access to the myth:// source from the main menu).

It would be great if it was possible to have Videos (or some menu item) configurable to go to a shortcut. Of course dedicated support on the main menu for Myth TV would be great - perhaps once the GSoC project for the PVR frontend is further along :)

This also seems to be the case for the List and Info List views for Videos. While trying this skin we've had to be careful with deleting shows because at the moment we have stacks of recorded TV called "Olympics Beijing 2008 ...".

There also looks to be some sort of ghosting behind the item names in the list when they scroll sideways. Those Olympic Games titles are really long - not sure if that somehow affects it.

Pretty awesome looking from what we've used of the skin so far. Haven't run into any areas that didn't look finished. Great job!

also èéà etc are displayed in lower caps (along with the rest in upper case), which looks quite ugly. even english titles have such characters sometimes, so this is imo the last little thing that'd make this skin just perfect! :)

First, great work, great first release, looks awesome! Thanks for your work and keep it up!

Some things I noticed in my initial quick tests.

Bugs:
* When using an lcd-display on my htpc(Antec fusion chassie), the different headlines shows up like " Videos " instead of just "Videos".
* When browsing for subtitles in the videoplayer, the filebrowser is hidden behind the slide.

Suggestions:
* When viewing pictures in the picture-list, they are so dark when not selected so it´s hard to see what they are. Hard to get a quick overview. Same thing when browsing movies in AMT.
* Use some graphical icons instead of BM, VS etc in the videoplayer.
* When playing music in fullscreen with visualisations, the info window is a vertical slide on the left side, would be better as bottom horizontal slide imho.
* Animations could be slightly faster, gets tiresome in the long run.
* The weather could show at least the current(or tomorrows) weather as a preview when selected on the home screen.

I'm having problems with adding new movies.
The covers of the movies are saved in a very low resolution, even if the original movie.tbn is high resolution.
Also, the year of the movie is not saved. It now says "Movie Name ()" instead of "Movie Name (year)" when pressing 'i'

Is this a skin issue? I didn't have this with the Aeon skin

For the better quality thumbs i did this:

<thumbsize>512</thumbsize>
</advancedsettings>

and saved it in the userdata folder within XBMC as AdvancedSettings.xml

Oh so that´s how it works, my bad then! :blush: So it´s the parent menu that gets moved to the top.

I found that a bit confusing, but maybe it´s just takes a while to get used to. Would be better to have the parent menu to the right of the current slide-out-menu, dimmed down a bit, and I could get to it by pressing right, just my opinion though. :nerd:

This is a very small issue, but when you return to the Home page from any of the media sections, there is a brief flash of the movie backdrop (red theater seats) before the appropriate backdrop appears. Like I said, not a big deal, but it does detract somewhat from the otherwise smooth and very slick UI. This skin is amazing though, so I'd like to alsp say thank you for your hard work and creativity!

I'm not going to be terribly specific because I don't remember exactly the problems I was having but I found that adding a network source (Windows Shares) seemed rather confusing.

Perhaps someone could play around with it now and see if I was imagining it? At work now and can't really play around (except a few quick posts to forums :P ).

I have a problem with the skin on my htpc, from PMIII I can select the mediastream skin, after it changes my screen goes blank. I have to hit the back button to get to the main screen. From there I get the options for music, videos, movies and so forth. If I choose one of the options I get the next blade. From there if I hit browse or even the settings option on music I get the blank screen again, the same goes for all the other options. Any idea on whats going on?

My xbmc log has a bunch of error entries saying that it cant load the xml files such as the includes.xml

here are some of the errors. Hope this helps.

Hi Guys. Don't know if this has been posted, but I was playing music very late last night full screen with vis, I then got up the left menu somehow. But was then unable to quit the menu / stop playing music. (Theres pause / play options but no stop ) I pressed every key on the keyboard and couldnt get out.. In the end had to ctrl alt del.

Is this a bug... or is it just me.. I'm runing on PC-XBMC..

Broads, there seem to be many such glitches when using a keyboard, not necessarily with MeadiStream though. x "should" stop, but in your case it may be that the context menu hindered that. Try pressing the special windows menu button during vis and see if it toggles the context menu. I'd try but I am in the middle of a huge scrape.

Update..

I have recreated my issue, and today i was able to get out by pressing the (X) key. Unlike most other windows you are not able to get out by simply clicking the back button. So this is yet another key to map to my controller. Would be great if there was a exit visulisations button or something to get back in the gui?

I guess there is probably also a start / quit visulisations button in there to key map as well......

I find using this skin gives me a weird video problem sometimes, most of the time [usually the first one i click an episode after i turn on the box] i click a tv show episode its only plays the sound, i have to click x to go to the music vis screen then hit b to stop it playing then click on the tv show again and it works!!!! weird i know.

It does not happen with any ohter skin i have used before, maybe a memory issue but im not using the hd cables!!!

I've found 2 minor bugs in the latest release of MediaStream.

When returning from either Videos or Music to the home menu the Movies background briefly flashes up on the screen.

Found a bug: While trying to add a network location for videos (SMB in my case) After selecting the share it will not allow me to select the "OK" option on the bottom. I tried many different things even a reg. controller and a remote, and it's the same either way.

BTW I am using the latest XBMC build, and the newest MS build.

Using the v0.85 release, I noticed the following:

If you bring up various panes in the Video OSD and then close them, the next time you open an OSD pane, the previous panes flash on screen and then disappear. I think that they should simply stay away.

It would be nice if the watched/unwatched counts would also be hidden if you choose to hide the count in the skin options.

What I'd love to see when in movie library mode is an option to display select media info along with description and poster.

IE if the movies is 720, 1080, 5.1, DTS etc it would say so in a small graphic of some kind as you scroll through. Nothing fancy or big just the basics.

Of course if it's 480, stereo or the like it displays nothing.

Just my thought. Actually that's the ONLY thing I think is missing. Otherwise is 99% perfect.

I didn't try the update yet, but I didn'see this in the change list so i think it's better to report it: in the skin options you can set to have season thumbs for tv shows in the back of the episode list. It's off by default, but I think it looks great.

The problem is that if you set to flatten tv shows with only one season the thumb appears blank.

I'm sorry if this was posted before. I love this skin.

We *MAY* put an option to allow this but we had this in the past and found that it made the navigation of the list a bit jumpy so we took it out. I'll try it again (using largeimage control perhaps) but if it doesn't really work that well then it won't make it in.

IMO blade should be on the far right so that transparency would fade into background image and sub blade menus should truncate whole thing to the left when opened... right now blade 'cuts' trough the screen which makes little sense to me... just my 5c

If we did that then the sub-blades would either have to open up on the left of the main menu, coming out of the area where you've blended it into the background, which could look pretty bizarre. Alternatvely the sub-blade would still come out on the right of the main menu but this would force the main menu back towards the middle of the screen.

One of the primary reasons for having the menu on the blade is that the blade sits on top of the background so having it blend into the background runs against one of the core concepts behind the design.

Personally I'm not sold on the idea (as you may already have guessed) but if someone comes up with a blinding way of having the blade on the right then you never know.

I'm not sold on it either, I'm afraid. One of the other things that I felt, is that this skin should not be 100% customiseable to the user. All things are possible, but not all things are beneficial in my opinion.

If we end up creating a skin to match everyone's tastes then we would have an entire mess of a skin, and one that is HUGE in size to accomodate everyones' wants and desires. At some stage we have to say no...not just because it becomes to cumbersome, but also because we dont want anything in the skin that would detriment the work and vision we poured into it.

Sorry, but there are some things asked for that you just wont see in there!

2. I was testing the skin early this morning and noticed that the clock foreground represents 01:00 am as 1:00 while the blue shaddow uses 01:00. This creates a funny double vision effect.

Yep I think it's an issue with XBMC but if you can tell me exactly where the problems are occuring I may be able to implement a workaround.

It is everywhere you use the [UPPERCASE] tag. I have tried with PMIII and it acts the same way. The same thing happens with [LOWERCASE] where ÅÄÖ all stay the same.
A bad suggestion would be to let the language file decide on CAPS, bad because you would need two labels for Region and REGION.
I think we need to wait for a XBMC fix. Can you file a request, I think your name backed up by this magnificent skin has best impact.

I would have even left the homepage as-is. Am glad you left the option to keep it in the center (where it looks miles better IMO). On the left it feels too unbalanced for my liking.

While I agree that the centered menu looks better I think you need to change the background images as I previously suggested -

TV SHOWS - Shift the image so the TV screen is more to the right and then it's not covered up (also, if possible, change what's displayed on the screen - the old BBC test card is a bit naff IMO).

ON/OFF - definitely needs the on/off button shifted to the right because as it's stands right now you can hardly even see it.

DVD - a totally different picture is needed I think because there's nothing shown on the left and what's on the right isn't really recognisable.

Fanart button: is it supposed to re-scrape? it does nothing but allow me to choose a file on my PC HDD atm

No, it's only for browsing locally. If you want a re-scrape then Refresh.

Also, using v0.85. If the "Skin Zoom" function in XBMC is used, the skin layout breaks and does not get fixed, even if the zoom setting is reverted to default.

I experienced this too last night. I set the zoom to 20% as i couldnt read some of the movie plot.

Afterward, i couldnt get into my movies at all and the skin just froze; even after reboot.

Using xbmc for xbox t3ch build from end of july.

Instead of using the zoom, have you tried using the Bigger font set? If that's ot big enough then maybe we could add an "Even Bigger" font set

My TV is a 32" SONY LCD.
I dont have the av pack as of yet and therefore im running it not in 720p, maybe thats my problem.

What I'd love to see when in movie library mode is an option to display select media info along with description and poster.

IE if the movies is 720, 1080, 5.1, DTS etc it would say so in a small graphic of some kind as you scroll through. Nothing fancy or big just the basics.

Of course if it's 480, stereo or the like it displays nothing.

As soon as that functionality exists in XBMC we'll be adding it to the skin :grin:

It is everywhere you use the [UPPERCASE] tag. I have tried with PMIII and it acts the same way. The same thing happens with [LOWERCASE] where ÅÄÖ all stay the same.
A bad suggestion would be to let the language file decide on CAPS, bad because you would need two labels for Region and REGION.
I think we need to wait for a XBMC fix.
I have implemented a work-around by reducing the amount of times we use the UPPERCASE tag so hopefully that will solve most of these issues/

ehm .. my xbox is running at 1080i for 2 years flawlessly. On my 50" there is no comparison: when playing a good quality dvd at 1080i picture is sharper and more detailed than at 720p. At the moment xTV is my default skin and it works fine with no bugs ... this means I will have no hope to use mediastream on xbox at the same quality of resolution?

You are correct that with the submenu blades the option doesn't work. Personally, I like the top menu right-justified but calling the submenus DOES mess with the look.

I've d/l'd the new version but haven't had a chance to install it yet - so haven't checked out the shift to left-justified.

I rarely use the home page anyway as all my locations are setup on the remote. Regardless of the menu position it's a great skin. With an added "Wall view" it will certainly become my default. You guys do great work :nod:

Just had a chance to check out the updated version on XBMC_PC. Very nice.

I know you guys are looking at a "Wall view", but is there any consideration for a "Media Preview" in the TVshow side? I think it would look great at the episode level, having the episode thumbs scroll below while the info displays above.

Also, has anyone suggested that the view overlays auto-hide to display the background image (I couldn't find any comments)? Maybe auto-hide after a preset time (user adjustable) and also with a specific button press. The overlay wouldn't have to be completely hidden - maybe reduce/slide into an icon that shows some type of action is needed to restore the overlay. When in this position, any button press on remote/keybd/controller brings it back. Even the home menu would be nice to auto-hide to better background veiwing.

One thing that I would find nice at present - until a wall view appears - its for the "Media Preview" title text to always display when scrolling flatout (the Showcase view already does this). Using "Media Preview" when looking for a title with a large library you have to recognise the cover as the above text disappears when scrolling flatout. If the title stays displayed when scrolling flatout, I can use this displayed title to know when I'm at a certain letter in the alphabet, so I can then slow down and look for the specific title. Hope this makes sense. Again, great skin.

Two issues I'd reported in Plex forums - just putting in here for sake of completeness...

1. When playing a tv show, exiting it (or letting it finish) will go back to the select episode screen, but the position of the selected episode is reset to the first one in the list. Would be good to remember which episode you were on.

2. In Apple Movie Trailer plugin, selecting Genre from the menu gives a blank window - I can't change to a different genre.

I was really playing around with the Skin last night and first things first, Great work!!! Seriously this is a fantastic skin, the team should really be proud of creating a great piece of work.

Now onto a few suggestions, and that is what these are just suggestions so take them or leave them at that.

First I know there has been some discussion about what views to have and where, but I would love a showcase, or coverflow type of view in "videos" and "music". I have video sources that aren't going to scan to the library (mainly skateboarding and snowboarding videos) but I have nice "DVD cover" style thumbs set up for them and would love to see them in that kind of view.

Next because I have other video sources, Kids Shows, Snowboard Videos etc... I really like to add them to my home page, makes it easy for my kids to browse to them and watch their own shows etc... I can edit the xml myself to add this like I have done with other skins before, but I was thinking it would be really cool if you created the option to add custom additions to the home page. I don't know how realistic this is, but AEON does something similar how ever you can't choose a custom title for the addition, you just have to edit "clips" and "adult" in the XML.

So here is my design idea, you have the ability to disable several menu's on the home page, so you have an option to add custom menus. First you would be presented with a choice of what type of media you are adding, Audio, Video, Games, based on that choice the skin would display "watch your" or "listen to" or "play" above the title of the new menu. Next you would enter a custom title for the menu ie... Kids Shows, Snowboard Movies, Adult, Audio Books, Games, Arcade etc..., the third choice is to direct the custom menu to a source that has already been set up.

Next it would be a great to be able to customize where each menu points... so for example if I wanted to set up "music" to go right to my "music" source so it just cuts out one click instead of going to the "my music" page and then selecting my music source to open it.

I realize the are highly customizable suggestions, and that this probably doesn't cater to the broadest user base, but it would be a great addition I think, as I don't think I am the only person with sources, other than TV and Movies that I like to have on the home page. My other hope would be if these options were built into the skin, then it would increase the updatability, with out having to go in and edit XML's etc... every time I update the skin, which is sounds like may be quite often if it's included in the T3CH builds.

Once again just a few ideas I had, but over all great skin!!

That level of cusomisation is unlikely to happen, the amount of coding that would go into that, it would probably be easier to train every user to code it themselves :oo:

I'm still getting split second flashes of whatever is the default background when you first boot up.

With everything enabled XBMC boots to the Videos selection - when leaving Music the Video background flashes up briefly.

On my config (Videos and Programs disabled) XBMC boot to the TV Shows selection - this time the TV Show background flashes up briefly when exiting Movies and Music.

I noticed the flash not long after we released the latest version and have fixed it (again) but if you have either programs or music disabled there is still a flash. My current thinking is to change the order of the items in the main menu to have the most common stuff at the start of the list (I'm thinking most people will keep settings, power and music) which will then reduce the likelihood of the flash coming back (if I make it so those 3 so they can't be removed then I remove the flash problem completely)

As for the settings menu. One thing I don't like about it is that when pressing right to pull up the first sub-blade list if you then press left to get out of it, it actually takes you to the second part of the sub-blade list, where the one with skin at the top is part one. It would be easier if you could press right to toggle between the first and second part or maybe going to the top and bottom could be the toggle, with arrows to indicate there is more. Left would then always get you out of it. If noting else, there should be an arrow indicating that there are more options. I didn't even realize there was a second part to it until the first time I hit back. I had always been pressing enter to go into the configuration menu.

Also, is it possible to put some type of busy/working animation when selecting the thumbs and fanart button. It can sometimes take awhile for it to scrape the images and display them, especially for fanart. I can tell it is working, because I see the activity on the wireless card, but some users may think it has hung.

Those are just some of the minor things I noticed last night. The fanart switching for movies seems to be much faster now. Overall I love the whole layout and color scheme. It turned out to be a top notch skin with a lot of TLC put into it. I can't wait to see how you guys implament a wall view. Keep up the good work.:grin:

Tested the new version on xbox at 1080i :after scrolling 3 or 4 items on the menu .. at the following one, the background displays only partially and, scrolling ahead of 1 item more, the xbox crashes. It's surely a memory issue.

I saw the skin default is 720p: considering that mediastream will soon be part of T3ch releases, do you plan to take care of all resolutions/system related issues? In this case could be an idea to think about a "light" version for xbox.

Thanx for the job done: this could soon replace PM3 as default skin.

I like the new skin alot as well, but In wish to second the request for a 'light' version.

Maybe I just missed it. I guess it wouldn't be the first time I missed something right infront of my face.??? I never actually used either of those buttons much on any of the other skins. The thumbs one I did some, but it generally doesn't take too long, I just noticed it took a little longer than normal on one of my movies recently. I did use fanart on aeon, but that was before there was a scraper for fanart, so there was no issue there. Well, I'm not at my main computer right now, but I will check this out later today and get back to you. Off to the dentist now.:eek:

I have noticed that AMT dosen´t work to good using this skin. Running Ubuntu 8.04, svn 14921, mediastream 0.85.

When I try to play a trailer it usually just drops back to the menu instead of playing after the initial streaming. If I switch to pmIII it works fine. Is that something skin specific or is it a problem with the linux version?

Just checked again and I don't see any "PLEASE WAIT" at the bottom of the screen. I'm starting to wonder if this has anything to do with the crash I've been experiencing when trying to do the fanart for several movies in a row. I'm using Atlantis Alpha 3. Does anyone else see a PLEASE WAIT? ???

Just noticed that this doesn't happen in AEON either. Like you said, XBMC must not be triggering the busy animation. Should that be reported as a bug?

I'll second that! Whenever the scraper gets a movie wrong, which isn't that often but does happen, it is hard to know what movie it is if I can't see the directory. I have movie on 4 hard drives and 9 different folders.:shocked: It would be nice to be able to just pop up the info and see that movie is on ___ drive in ___ folder. Then I can go edit the folder name to make it more accurate. Obviously you could simply play the movie, but that is too time consuming and then you still have to find the folder. Also, if you ever want to burn a movie off, it's a pita to find it. It would definately be something that should be able to be disabled though. It would look kind of ugly being there all the time.

Is there a way to replace the areas that say no thumb or the blue folder icons that say mediastream with pictures? The Library doesn't seem to fill these in and there doesn't seeem to be an option to manually select thumbs.

Also for a suggestion, it might have been said but a way to view trailers of a movie if it exists in apple trailers right from the library would be awesome, especially being able to play it while still being in the library, ie just a window will come up.

Also, an option to play music for the background.

the trailers thing is an xbmc suggestion, not skin related. It could probably be done with a script too, but i don't think you'll find many willing to work on such a script or features since you can already watch trailers by going to the movie information screen, found in the context menu when you have a movie highlighted (only available in library). As for background music, do you mean a playlist or partymode or something that automatically starts when then skin starts? A skin option would be very easy to add, but i dont know what the team thinks of it. After suicide-level schoolwork, both my computers dying for a few months, a wicked, endless case of the flu, and life taking some wild turns, i've really not even been a part of the team for teh past 6 months probably so i don't really know what their thoughts are. Still hoping things will shape up for me though and i can contribute something more :(

Slownis - When you say you have occasional blackouts, do you mean that the custom backdrop doesn't render and you get a black screen while everything else still works okay? I had the same problem, and (I think) connected it to backdrops that were 32-bit images. 24-bit images work fine in both Aeon and Mediastream, but 32-bit images rendered to black. I posted something about this in the fanart sub-forum but no one has confirmed they see the same behavior.

Hi, the skin is looking quite sweet, however..

The constant fading to background on switching items is driving me nut's. Can't the previous text/thumb be displayed untill the new one is loaded? Not sure if the skin engine supports this, if not think that is something we should correct.

If you navigate quickly through the list then you don't want small delays every time it loads the thumbs & text so we put a delay in to avoid this. If you take that delay out you'd see (especially on the xbox) that the navigation is a lot jerkier.

It would be good to keep the old thumb on there until the new one has loaded but since it is based on the ListItem.Thumb (which is the current position in the list) then as soon as you move that reference has changed to the next item. I guess you could get around it by having some sort of PrevListItem.Thumb but that would be a pretty significant change to the skin engine I would think

Yah, just a way to have it play an mp3 of your choice or a random mp3 upon startup, that would be nice.

As for the trailers, is there anything in particular you have to do to get it to work right? I see it in the movie information but it's blacked out but I know that movie has a has a trailer because I've seen it in the apple script, from that script I've also installed a plugin for apple trailers but I have no idea what it did.

Also maybe a bug? when I hit thumbs from movie information it says please wait then it just freezes, happens pretty consistently.

I too am noticing using mediastream 0.85 set on 720p for GUI on xbox that alot of the Tv Shows dont play and can crash mediastream with please wait in the corner. Tested same TV shows they work fine on PM3. Also notice that thumbnails and fanart seem to disappear after changing view type think it works better if you back out after changing and go back in.

Yah, just a way to have it play an mp3 of your choice or a random mp3 upon startup, that would be nice.

As for the trailers, is there anything in particular you have to do to get it to work right? I see it in the movie information but it's blacked out but I know that movie has a has a trailer because I've seen it in the apple script, from that script I've also installed a plugin for apple trailers but I have no idea what it did.

You mean and just have that single song loop? Or just play through once? Well if a startup playlist feature was added like the one in pm3 right now i guess you could technically do either one, or a full playlist of songs of course. As a workaround, for the time being you could replace the startup.wav in the sounds folder with the song you'd like to play and it will always play when xbmc loads, no repeat though.

About the trailers, they aren't grabbed from apple (no way to be sure about matching the movies up right), they're actually grabbed from IMDB. If its blacked out, it probably means imdb doesn't have a trailer for that movie. You can, however, add your own trailers by putting it in the same folder as the movie and naming it moviename-trailer.avi and when you update the library it should pick up on it

For some reason when im using this skin i cant skip/jog while watching an avi file, it just keeps bringing up the info panel at the bottom. This problem does not happen when playing rmvb of mkv files!!!!

Switching to a different skin solves this!!!

Also, using the newest t3ch release.

I tested it when it was mentioned originally but couldn't replicate the problem but last night I had it happen on a couple of videos. Because it seems to happen internittently then my suspicion is that is probably memory related. Will do some more work to try and cut down memory use on the xbox.

Not sure if this bug has been mentioned yet or not but on case sensitive systems MediaStream/sounds/Sounds.xml fails to load and needs to be renamed sounds.xml.

I too am noticing using mediastream 0.85 set on 720p for GUI on xbox that alot of the Tv Shows dont play and can crash mediastream with please wait in the corner. Tested same TV shows they work fine on PM3. Also notice that thumbnails and fanart seem to disappear after changing view type think it works better if you back out after changing and go back in.

This also sounds more like a memory issue.

I actually just noticed today when i told the movie library to update, it said "downloading tv show information" rather than movie. Also...it didn't disappear during full screen music visualizations as i think is the general rule of thumb for those. Also, when i activated partymode and went to full screen viz, when the info panel was open, it would say "party mode in the middle of the the screen amidst all the visualization stuff rather than on the panel as i assume was the intent.

Granted, all of this was on an SD tv with the xbox, but i don't think that would make a different with respect to any of the problems mentioned.

I was hoping for a skin using a lot of animation, because it makes the use of it much more intense. U guys really worked that out fine.

I really like the new fixes and updates in the 0.85 release, though i wanted to suggest something:

With the menublade placed to the left side of the skin (which is very good), it would be cleaner to have the "clock", "weather" and "now playing" info at the right side of the screen. Is that an option?

Further i wanted to report a tiny bug in the favorites submenu: the option for deleting a favorite gives me no text, see screenshot.

I must first say that i really like MediaStream and actually think it can replace PM3 in the future :)

However, there is one thing that bothers me (as with all other new cool skins). Browsing mp3 albums is a nightmare, especially if you have hundreds of albums in a directory with the real release scene directory names. The browse window occupies just a small piece of the screen while the album cover is way to big (in my opinion). Very few, if any of my albums has covers.

So, is it just me that thinks it would be good with a new(?) view that makes it a bit easier to browse mp3 albums by directory names and not album covers? :)

great job on this skin, loving it but i think i'm running into memory issues. random dvd iso's dont play / lock up the xbox. i tried turning off movie fanart and lowered thumb size to 384 but im still getting lockups. anything simple i can disable to free up memory?

This may be more of an XBMC issue than for this particular skin but is it possible to have access to a user defined filter within the Library mode, for instance if I want to isolate all 007 movies or Al Pacino movies etc, it would make it easier to find things when you have a large collection.

Pundy...are you experiencing these issues in XBMC or Plex? If Plex then I'm sorry but it's not supported by us. Any issues with the skin that you may find using in Plex, but do not find in XBMC will be due to the code and 'skinning engine' of Plex itself.

The skin is provided to Plex "as is", and is not supported on that platform by either Team Razorfish or the Official XBMC Skinning team. For those issues you will have to refer to the Plex team I'm afraid. If this is NOT the case (being an XBMC issue), then we'll take a look!

Hey Mike,
So yes the problems I reported were with Plex. However I downloaded the new Atlantis build of xbmc for osx (I think thats what its called now), and tried out the issues I was facing. Since the apple trailer script doesn't come in the package, I wasn't able to test that one out, (can anyone confirm or deny my issue where you can't select a genre?) however I was able to confirm that when you watch a tv show, exiting it, (or letting it finish) leaves the menu at the no 1 position (right at top) and not on the episode that was playing.

Hiding the unwatched episodes mostly avoids the issue (since the watched ones are automagically hidden) but then have the issue of having to go back and mark things as unwatched if you want them all to show up.

I have two folders via Samba Share /TV and /Movies. Each has content set to the correct media type. The scrapers will grab the filenames correctly and then i set it to Info List mode. The setting keeps TV Shows view mode correctly, but Movies always gets messed up and does not display the files in /Movies.

I love the skin but I'm strugglin a bit after being a PMIII man.... I find the Videos, Movies and TV all a bit confusing ??? Movies tries to hard... it looks into everything on my server? not just my movies file..... so I end up with 50 episodes of "In the night garden with iggle piggle" that I got for my mates kids and all my discovery clips in my movie list.... then in video I cant seem to get any info up or the full choice of views?? press info and the detail is there but on media info view theres just the thumb? and no showcase view option.....

Should TV/Movies be a sub folder under Video? I might wipe the xbox tonight and try again... but this was a fresh build... :(

I had a quick check at the code and the code for the now playing UI looks the same as the code for the music vis, so it could be that the MusicPlayer.Offset code doesn't work properly in the vis screen?

You need the AMT2 PLUGIN installed and added as a source in VIDEOS in XBMC
Then you need to enter the source which is AMT2, scroll down a bit in LIST viewmode and start to play a trailer.
After playback ENDS, cursor will be put on .. in LIST, not on the trailer you just played, this is the bug that I can't reproduce using PM3

I can take a really good stab at why this happens pike its because they have 2 views with the same ID and each is visible with different conditions (didn't look at the code just guessing) this makes any multiple same ID view that is not the first referenced in the xml always jump back to the start of the list.

PM3 and any other skin I do does not use this method of using the same ID for different lists so its not effected. (though it did happen when I first tried it)

I think its memory related problem. I have the same problem, and my movies only play if I change the view mode to 'list' or 'info list'.

sometimes custom backgrounds doesnt load too (using 720p and 1280x720 images) :sad:

Can you try using 1024 x 576 images to see if it eases the memory issue. I have played about with that myself in the past and find you don't lose any quality in the pics. I have a 37" HD screen running at 720p on my Xbox and see no issues at all running any of my Movies / TV shows in library mode. This even includes running Movie and TV Fanart backdrops in all areas.

Also with regards the Custom images being used. What format are they in as I find that PNG files can cause issues. I generally run mine as JPEG and optimised for web usage.

I'm currently working through the skin trying to cut down on memory usage (it's a never ending task it seems!) but custom images use up more memory than using the default backgrounds in the skin so if you are having problems playing videos etc due to memory issues then I'd suggest you cut down on custom images and fanart for now.

Try these suggestions if you're having memory issues with the Xbox - they worked for AEON.

Resize all backdrops and fanart to 960x540
Do not increase thumbsize in the advancedsetting.xml

I think we're reaching a point where skins will either have a 'Lite' version for the Xbox or be solely for the other systems.

I'm having a strange issue I don't see anywhere.

I'm running a clean install of the t3ch build with a fresh UserData folder.

When I view a folder of images over an SMB connection it constantly pops up asking me for a username and password for a profile. If I cancel it doesn't create a thumb for the specific image it got stuck on, however other images in that folder have had thumbs generated. It seems completely random on which images it gets hung up on. If I back out and go back into that folder, it does it with different images in that folder.

I know it isn't a permissions issue, I can view the images if I click on them. This works fine in PM3.

I don't have any profiles but the default configured with no configured profile name or password.

Thanks, this skin looks like a refreshing change from years of PM3.

Try turning off simple file sharing on your PC. Then change your SMB root directory permissions and there should be a setting to apply to permissions to all child objects. That should work. The wiki has some detailed instructions.

Ah, it's a linux system. The only thing I have special in my smb.conf is unix extensions =no so that stupid OSX works right.

Can you point me to the wiki? Is it a MediaStream one or the XBMC wiki?

Awesome new update! Thank you for promptly acting on all the bug reports and continually improving an already great skin.

I noticed what I think may be a new bug in 0.87. If I'm in the movie showcase screen and i look at movie info and then exit from the info it SEEMS to very quickly jump back to the beginning of the list (as in the first poster in the list based on whatever sort you have enabled) and then jumping back to the selected poster.

This happens very quickly but should definitely be noticeable at least on the Linux version. I don't believe this bug was present in the previous two releases.

Sorry if this has already been reported.

Yep, there are views that have the same id - Media Preview, Albums and Pictures all use id 51 but they are used in different media screens so I would have thought they shouldn't affect each other? As far as I can remember all the other id's for views are unique

If that's the case then it could be that the scrollbars are causing the selected item to be moved up to the start of the list. If that is the case then it would suggest to me that maybe there is an issue with re-selecting in XBMC itself when scrollbars are involved unless I'm missing a tag in my scrollbars code? I guess JMarshall or Jezz can answer that one?

There is still this blue shaddow clock background that is a bit off when time is 0:00 to 9:59.
It is caused by the "xx" in Includes.XML, here...

Any chance you could make the script output screen a bit larger? I'm coding some plugins using your wonderful graphics and when I want to look at the Python log its too small, so I endup jumping between PM and your skin. Please?!

Are you using the Bigger fontset? If that's not big enough then a Massive fontset wil be included in the next release.

Regarding video plugins, the default layout for new folders is now list but the better looking + with more info is the infolist. Can infolist be made the default? I think I can have Python forcing it but then I have to override that XBMC remembers the last layout.

Aren't default views down to your own specific settings, not the skin? Have you tried changing the view mode setting for Program etc? If it something specific in the skin that needs changing then let me know and I'll have a look

On the list / infolist it could very well be a XBMC thing. When a folder is unknown which is always the case with a WEB driven plugin it defaults to list view. You can then change to infolist perfectly OK and if you come back to the same folder ie http link the skin/XBMC will remember the layout that was selected last time. My point was that infolist would be a nicer default view for any well programmed plugin. If I use Python to force infolist view I sort of kill XBMCs function of remembering the preferred view (or I have to do DB lookups to check if there is a preferred view or not)

One thing I am missing though is an additional list option. That will be the "Full list". There is so much space that goes to waste when you don't have media icons for i.e. your music.

Please make a full list option. at least for music + images. Make it full width to make room for long filenames and get rid of "no media miniature".

But, I had an idea to slide the main bar alll the way to the left after a period of inactivity, leaving up the clock, weather and rss feeds, but leaving plenty of room for backdrops to scroll and be viewed completely. It'd kinda be like the 'auto hide task bar' in windows. Just a thought

Ive have just started using mediastream and the only thing that i can't seem to figure out (dont know if it is a bug or not) is that when adding a new source, i get the following screen...

Anyways, it must be a MediaStream bug since it works fine in PM3.
My guess (as a developer) is that MediaStream doesn't allow scrolling over disabled fields, in this case "Port".
Please fix this, it makes adding SMB sources impossible.

I can also confirm this bug. The way I am working around this is going back into default skin for XBMC and adding my sources there, then switching to Mediastream.

Another issue I am having is playing DVD movies from network drive. I select the movie and it just sits there. Select it again and it hangs the xbox. I am able to play DVD movies if I go back into the default XBMC skin.

Keep up the great work on the skin.

I add more sources all of the time. I continue to explore the power and flexability of the original Xbox. There are many plugins that I try out and even update and I continue to add a network places in my home on a needed basis. On my network I have 4 terabytes of information spread out through 6 Xboxs, 2 NAS, 3 Laptops, 1 Xbox 360, and 2 PC's to grab media from. I have different ways that I try to personalize my XBMC setup, and being able to add a source conveinently and when I want to, is important to me. This is a bug and I do hope it gets looked into soon.

Hi, sorry I know this is for bugs and this maybe a little user error.

When I switched over to the media stream all the text went on top of itself. Simular to a bug reported when a file is too long.

When I boot my system goes into the video menu and this looks to work. However when go to the main menu I have the background pic of a mountain but no text at all.. and I have to reboot to get anywhere.

Any ideas?

Please make a full list option. at least for music + images. Make it full width to make room for long filenames and get rid of "no media miniature".

Did anyone ever figure out if it's possible to add a network source with MediaStream?

As at the latest version on an Xbox and under Linux I can't navigate to the OK button (or below the level of the Server / Browse buttons for that matter) in the MediaStream skin even though I can do so if I switch to the PM3 skin (on both platforms).

I downloaded this skin with T3CH's release of XBMC, version 15026. I never even knew this skin existed and I'm so glad that I've found out about it!!!:shocked:
It is so crisp and clear on my 32" LCD TV running 720p, it's amazing!!!
Without doubt it is my new skin of choice! I really appreciate all the time and effort that has gone into this so all of us could enjoy a new and intriguing look on XBMC!! :cool:

An issue I've noticed with this is when I viewing the Apple Movie Trailers, in "Category Select" view, I show a category menu with no genre's present. Upon clicking the available blank slot/genre, I am then taken to another view for that blank available slot/genre, i.g. Newest, Romance, Horror, Comedy, Action, etc.. The thumbnails show up fine and all seems to work appropriately. It's just when I go to the "Category Select" view, I see no fonts to describe the corresponding genre. Did I miss something here?

In addition to this fantastic skin, I think a timer should be added to the shutdown icons listed, "Shutdown, Restart, Reload XBMC, Refresh Skin, and Dashboard". Like the "Shutdown Timer" that is available in the skin of Blackbolt's MC360. I think this would be a simple change (maybe? I don't know) that would make this skin that much more customizable.

Is it possible to have the posters in AMT with less alpha or tint. As it is now(at least for me), it´s very hard to see them at all unless they are selected.

Actually the "flatten" option goes 99% of the way there doesn't it? Any chance of a "flatten more" or to make it cleaner a 3 way toggle for flatten? On/Off/More (don't know how best to label/describe it).

I swear I have seen this in some other skin (I thought it was MC360 but looking now I couldn't find it).

An option to skip the category views for TV Shows and Movies when going back from within the Title category. In practice this would work the same as hitting the Menu button so that you return to the main menu when you hit the back button from within the TV Show or Movies option.

Would it be possible to have a switch to enable this sort of behavior for the skin? I find that some people get lost when they go into the category view (older people especially).

This isn't something that the skin can control. We can control what level you go into when selecting Movies or TV Shows etc but once you are in there the levels that are available to you (by navigating up or down the hierarchy) are controlled by XBMC itself. If you want to stop certain levels being navigable then you'll need to make a feature request for XBMC itself.

Thanks for adding my suggested option "* Added: Option to hide thumbs in List view". It looks the way I want but there is one problem. You have added it as a global option. This destroys the lists where I actually want thumbs :) as in movies (cover art) and so forth.

Sorry to be a pain in the ass. But could you re do it so that it can be set on a folder by folder basis instead? As an actual List view option like . "Wide list" or something? What would be great.

And I found a bug with this. When pulling up a menu (GUIDE/right click) when hide thumbs is set, the menu displays off screen. I can only see some parts of it.

Sorry that isn't likely. We can only have a max of 10 views available at any one time so having 3 list views (List, Info List and Wide List) is not really a good idea. What I could do is split the option out so that there is an option for music and a separate option for videos?

While I'm here, a small request if I may? Is it possible to change the graphic for the 'back' button in all menus from the current 'no thumb' graphic to some sort of arrow as in PMIII? I just think it would look a lot better and also be less confusing for novice users.

Ah ok. Just though it was possible since Jess X was able to put it into Basics Vision when I asked. Is it possible to put it on a folder to folder case? An option that I can mark?

Like now you have a global option. Let's say I click it and let it turn all my "List" into lists without a thumbnail. Then you add an option on folders (the menu that appears when I click left > in a folder.) where I can enable thumbs for just that folder.

Your idea to be able to separate it for music/videos/photos would also be a nice addition to the idea I just wrote.

There is also Two more things I found.

1. I don't know if this counts as a feature suggestion or a bug. But when you close a video file, there is a default bookmark created so that when you play the video again you can select it and it plays the video from where you stopped. In your skin there is no thumb/icon visible for that bookmark. So it looks like there is none made even though there is :) please put a default bookmark icon on it.

This is something that I've been fighting with as well. :angry:
I use a Harmony remote and what I've done at this point are 2 things -
1. created a custom button on my remote called "Home Menu" that maps to XBMC.ActivateWindow(Home)
2. mapped the "exit" button on my remote to the "ParentDir" command in my keymap.xml

This allows me to navigate down into say Music\Artist\Album\Songs and then back up the folder structure using the exit (parentdir) button. Once I get back to the Artists level, then I can use my custom button to take me back to the main screen (of course I can use the custom button anywhere in the structure also to get me back to the main screen as well).

I've brought this up a couple times and the devs have said that there is no way around this at this time. I'm trying to work something out with more custom keymapping and will post any new info I find.

Hi, great skin.

Im useing library mode with media preview listing. Some things I would like to get some info on;

1. How can I, with above config, have "Recently added Movies" as a default screen whenever i enter the "movies" category from startupscreen? - An option to choose were you want to startup with library mode would be great (recently added movies/tv, playlists, sort by actor etc).

2. Whenever i enter Movies, with above config, I end up at a "default movie", with no icon/text etc, is this my database playing some tricks on me, or can this default "movie" be removed somehow? - Remove it and just place the functionallity(previous dir?) of this default movie on the menupane to the right.

I have no idea if above can be fixed with skinning, but would be ace to have it implemented in xbmc!

It's ok neither of them are anything to worry about (WallStream was a view we were working on but it has been suplanted by the Panel Stream view and any remaining references to it have been removed for the next release)
