If I try to change a background image, like system->skin->Set Weather background image. Itīs not changed on the homescreen, only when actually checking the weather. Maybe itīs supposed to be like that? Would be cool if it was possible change them on the home-screen aswell.

There's a setting on the Skin Settings page that allows you to see custom backgrounds on home

Why does the weather in MS has to be refreshed to show??
In other skins (focus, vision2, pm3, etc) the weather shows right away upon loading the skin.

I'm looking into having it show on startup but off the top of my head I think PM3 only shows weather when you move focus to the weather, do either of the other skins show it as soon as the xbox/skin starts up?
PMIII only show when on focus, but doesnt need user refresh.
Vision2 shows it at start up, no focus nedded.

yea,it's for Aeon, havnt really decided on what skin too use, thought homescrollers.xml were some kinda standard named file, and wanted to share solution.

Just thought I'd bump this to see what people's thoughts are? I know you can use 'Hide parent folder items' to get risd of the 'No Thumb' graphic, but for the novice users in my household, I think a big arrow would be a better solution
Is it possible to change the graphic for the 'back' button in all menus from the current 'no thumb' graphic to some sort of arrow as in PMIII? I just think it would look a lot better and also be less confusing for novice users.

Yes i have also noticed this, also a small cosmetic error (maybe just on my end?) when changing vis settings, in the bar that appears on the right of the screen, there is some overlapping text.
And i have noticed that any menu on the home screen that opens a sub-blade (such as the on-off option) are not clickable by mouse (not that anyone should really be using a mouse :nod:)
Super work though.... became my default skin right away :)

i noticed my fanart doesnt show for 2 of my TV shows.
Battlestar galactica and Extras.
I even tried different fan-arts and no go...

I have extras and it shows fanart for me.
I scanned my media with the media companion, but it just stores fanart.jpg next to my media, which is stored on an smb share.
Don't suppose that really helps you though, sorry.

Is it possible to display albumart and info on the center of the screen in fullscreen ? I play music for hours at home and it's disturbing to watch visualisations all the time so i disable vis.
If the albumart, artist and track was displayed in center it would be more space, look cleaner and less scrolling of names. Also instead of showing upcoming tracknames during party mode i bellive it would make more sense showing upcoming artists instead.
Offcourse i could just do this hack for my self, but i wondered what other user think ?

Are you running on an xbox? If so it's probably a memory issue. I had the same thing happen to me with fanart, and also certain views for Movies where lots of thumbs are shown at once. Only a few would be shown. And almost always when I tried to play a video then xbmc would crash due to being out of memory

Hi All, I'd posted this before but it wasn't very clear, it's also now causing me more problems as I can't FTP into the box now.
I switched to media stream which made all the text condensed so that it was overlapping itself and illegible.
When I clicked the 'menu' button on the remote I'm taken to a pic of a snow capped mountain with no text and no response from any buttons on the remote, rebooting is the only option.
When it loads I'm taken into my 'video' menu (as was setup with my previous skin) but I can't go anywhere from there. Every time I go back to the menu I'm stuck at that mountain pic again.
It's still streaming from my PC ok so it's connecting to the network ok.
So two questions
1) has anyone heard of this before?
2) what IP address would it default to as I'm not getting in on the old IP?

Removing the Weather would start the flashing backgrounds again.
First of all: Great-looking theme! I am quite impressed by the general aesthetics of this theme.
My most important feature request: Some kind of support for Unicode fonts.
This was almost a deal-breaker for me on this skin, until i replaced all of the skin fonts with Arial Unicode. I have a large amount of music and shows with Japanese titles, and the default font for the skin does not show those characters at all (not even a box like what usually happens with unknown Unicode characters). It would be nice if either: a) have a Unicode font as the default; b) use a Unicode font for those characters that don't exist in the default font; or c) provide an option to use a Unicode font rather than the default font. I don't really like having to replace the default fonts for the skin to have decent Unicode support.
I really love your skin, but I'm having a weird problem with it, even with the latest T3CH build and v0.88 of MediaStream on my Xbox.
Same problem does not show itself on Plex, but that is besides the point.
Whenever I have MediaStream activated I can't play files via the library. If I access them directly via SMB they work fine. If I turn on the default Project Mayhem skin they work, so I can only conclude it has to do with the skin. Only when trying to play stuff through the Library I get this problem (I've tried cleaning my Library and re-adding everything, didn't work).

My resolution is PAL 16:9 (which is 720x576 I believe). Also, your questions helped me pinpoint the problem: The files that work don't have thumbs or fanart.
I don't know where to check exactly for the settings for thumbsize, but I'm using the "Episodes" view for TV shows and "Panel Stream" for movies.
If you haven't changed the thumbsize in your advancedsettings.xml then that's not the problem. You could try turning off some of the network features or resizing the fanart to free up some memory.
I've resized the fan art from 1080p to PAL 16:9 (1920*1200 to something*576). That worked.
Sucks though because XBMC downloaded that fanart on its own and it makes it look broken, even though it isn't.

The fan art is cached at 720p. Please confirm this by having a look in your cached fanart folder (userdata/Thumbnails/Video/Fanart)

1080p for me, straight from the cache, only changed the extension to make it open in Preview.

just a few things i was wondering if it would be possible in the future to add the option of changing the directory pathway for some of the links. example: you highlight programs and then press right and the submenu comes up but it just goes to the default app directory when i press and of the option. I want to be able to edit sources for each of those to go to the folder i want, get the picture.
i get this odd bug when i run the apple trailer script after i download and watch a trailer the thumbs in that gender go bye bye and don't come back unless i delete the temp info for that script and do a new install.

Turn off "Use wathched thumbnal" in AMT settings. That should fix your missing icon problem.

Number of episodes in a TV-show season is empty for me, instead I'm getting "1 episodes" next to episode one, "2 episodes" next to the second episode and so on... I'm guessing there should be a count of total/unseen episodes of each season at the season screen, not the episode screen.
Do you need more info, or do you want me to take a screenshot?

A screenshot would be good but before doing that please make sure you are using a valid view (if you haven't selected a view in the skin then it may have defaulted to a non-episode friendly view)

Ah, my mistake. I hadn't realized there were different views for TV-shows, season and episodes, and the default settings were dead wrong. It looks great now, thank you!

I've now customized the skin to make it a bit more mp3-friendly :)
New mp3 browse view, using the whole screen with. Album covers are removed, both in the view and the Now Playing Details.

As for the updated visualisation view we have something in our plans already to change the current UI so that it handles wider/longer text better (although I don't think we were planning on having them at the top and bottom of the screen but you never know)

I didn't know about the thumbs off option, works good! Regarding the nowplaying album cover, none of my 83224 mp3s has an album cover and I don't like the no thumb image. But that is probably just me :)

at first the issue would start if i did a brand new install with the script in the media stream skin, then it would not work in the PMIII, but when the new version of the skin came out today i did a fresh install of it and started in in PMIII with a min install, then went into the media stream skin and then it worked fine. as far as i can tell AMT is working fine at the moment. for a while before todays update when i would go into AMT in media Stream and go into the settings for it it would be blank but since todays update everything looks fine. and as far as the renaming goes, i have 2 folders listed as Television in the f and g drives if i rename tv shows with television then it should go into that appropriate folder or will it get confused since i have that folder in 2 drives. i will try it anyways and let you know. thanks for the fast response.:laugh:

Thatīs good to hear! I really think you should consider having it top or bottom instead, works so much better usability-wise and together with the visualisation. Imo.
Or at least make it an option...

Still no fix for this in .89
Seemed to work fine in .87 but not in .88
And I would love if you could separate the option for removing thumbs in list-view. like "disable thumbs in list view for videos", "disable thumbs in list view for music". It wouldn't be perfekt but at least it would do the job until you have the time to put in something more advanced :)

Well atleast AMT is working for you now. There have been several big updates so im not surprised you ran into issues.
Regarding the TV Shows,
It appears you don't have any TV Shows in your library??
It should be an option in your list to select from.
It doesn't matter what the names of the folders are inside your source.
Just make sure you select a TV scraper.
Hope this makes sense.

so wait, what you are saying even though i don't have a TV show copied onto my xbox yet it will still have that issue? so if i copied over my Stargate sg1 season 1 set onto my box and put it into my television folder it will then work? just to clear up, what is TV Scraper?

Once you create the source and add the folder containing your shows, click on the Content button. Then select TVdb.com scraper and scan the items to your library.
Really this is more of a user problem than skin related so if you don't mind lets move this to the XBMC support area. Good luck!

Ok as far as the tv issue goes i did copy disk one of the pretender season 1 onto my box in the tv folder and it did pick it up however..... when i go to tv shows in the home menu and highlight the pretender it says on the right of it 0 episodes, but if i go through video selection in the home page a go from there it plays fine. personally i would just like if it when i'm in the video section and i go to the folder for my movies or tv shows that it can post the same info about the show in there as it would in the movie or tv show menu from the home page.

Like mentioned in the previous post this has nothing to do with the MediaStream skin or indeed ANY skin and is a question you should ask in the general forum.
Indeed your question was also answered in the previous post. When you go into videos from the main menu you are in "file" mode by ddefault and when you go into "tv shows" or "movies" from the main menu you are in "library" mode by default. This is exactly the way it should be and the way any sane person would want it. You need to add the files you can see in the file view to your library (essentially a database) so that you can see them in library view using the "set content" context menu item.

Sorry to keep banging on about this but I'd really super doper appreciate just a quick hand in getting this skin off my box.
Does anyone know if this skin would change my IP and if so to what?
Or... how do I create a bootable disk? just burn xbmc to a disk with the XBE in the root?
Skins do not change IP's.
Just copy the XBMC folder to the xbox hdd.
I never thought i would quit using aeon as my default skin, but i love mediastream. I have one small suggestion. It is more of a personal preference so take it as you will. I was thinking that one the home screen, the fanart, full screen playback and the visualizations are being cut off by the navigation blade. Would be possible to put a slight transparency on the menu blade? I am completely ignorant to doing this or i would do it myself. As I mentioned earlier, this is just a personal preference. Otherwise thanks for an amazing skin.

I was thinking that one the home screen, the fanart, full screen playback and the visualizations are being cut off by the navigation blade. Would be possible to put a slight transparency on the menu blade? I am completely ignorant to doing this or i would do it myself. As I mentioned earlier, this is just a personal preference. Otherwise thanks for an amazing skin.
Nope, fading of that blade isn't really possible due to the way that menu works - there are multiple layers making up that menu for the fades and sub-menus and the black colouring is needed to cover up all the stuff from showing through

works so far very well.
Small Bug: When i start a video and press the "title" button on the remote, the informations an clock are displayed in 720p size (to large). when i once press "pause" and then title, the clock and the information are showing in correct 1080i size.
second small bug: on first starting the xbox/xbmc the weather-information doesnt load on the home screen, but "Show Weather on Home" is activated. after refreshing the weather, it will be showed correctly.
Request of a small improvment: it would be nice, to see the weather-town on the home-screen.

Edit: after installing the t3ch release (sep 1st) with mediastream skin, weather update on startup seems to work.

As someone else said before.. Skins do not change your IP, hense MediaStream will not change your IP.
What do you mean by getting it "off" your box? Delete it? Just FTP to the box and delete the "MediaStream" folder in skins dir.

I've been experiencing this as well, except it happens to me with various skins, not just mediastream. It happens with PMIII as well...

If it was just a skin issue then you could change to another skin (either through the skin itself or by editing the guisettings.xml) but since you have said you can't see the menu in the skin or ftp to the box anymore then it doesn't sound like you need help with the skin itself, you need but help in getting your xbmc installation back up and running.
Hopefully someone in the Xbox forums will be able to help you out and you get up and running soon. :nod:

I know my info is scanned correctly (posters are is showing on everything, and I didn't manually add any of them) and if I press the white button, and then go to Movie Information, it shows me all the correct info.
2) I don't get any RSS feeds. I see the box at the bottom of the screen where it should scroll through, but nothing shows up.
I don't think it's a XBMC misconfiguration because RSS feeds work on PMIII, but what do I know? Can anyone help?

Are you sure you're in Library mode and not File mode? In File mode, none of the movie-info is shown.

Have you tried with a fresh install of the v0.90 skin? (without your additional changes) If it works then the issue is with your changes
I didn't know it only worked in Library mode, that seems to work. I had a couple issues with Library mode to begin with (on PMIII also) so I think I'm going to kill my User Data folder and do complete fresh installs of both (XBMC and Media Stream).

Got everything perfect except RSS. I've looked through the settings, but can't find anything. The only setting I found was an option to turn it on and off, and I confirmed its on.

Not sure I understand, are you saying you want to see movie fanart on the Home screen? If so then this isn't possible since the fanart is attached to the movies in the library and the home screen has no reference to those. If you want to see movie images on the home screen then you can update the Skin Settings to point to a folder with movie images in it

Now it's shows me the images from the directory i've set in the setting, the same as in the home screen.

Currently, the sorting option is global for all videos, but the best sorting method for TV Shows is not available.
For example, for TV shows, the best option would be by episode. but the only options are name, date, file and size.
a seperate sort for tv shows that has episode number would be ideal, i beleive PMIII has this.
lastly, in the episode section of TV shows, instead of it saying "episode 16" it says "16 episodes" for an individual tv show episode of the series

Sounds like you are using the wrong viewtype.
If you choose the 'Episodes' viewtype, then you get the chiose to sort by episode number, and it will show airdate rather than number of episodes.

Unfortunately it's still not working as expected. It looks like the issue might be related to the myth:// protocol Recordings directory we use frequently.
Within the myth:// Recordings directory, if I stop playing a recorded video it returns the selection to the top of the list. Doh!
However, the selection behavior appears to work as expected for a "real" directory of normal videos on disk. When a normal video is stopped it remains selected in the list.
I've also noticed that if I
Navigate to a recorded video in the list using the down arrow
Press the Back button on the Xbox remote
Go back into the Recordings directory
the previously selected video in the list remains selected. So it appears that the selection somehow gets reset to the top of the list when the recorded video is either played or stopped.
The selected recorded video didn't revert to the top of the list in the myth:// Recordings directory with the Aeon skin, so it still seems like something bizarre is going on.

Pressing left is already use to show/hide music now playing details.
You can get to the favourites from the System menu or you could always update your keymap.xml and map one of your buttons/keys to show the favourites and that could be setup to work on all screens.

I just edited the keymap file to have the zero button on the dvd remote go to the shutdown menu (which includes favorites) when the button is pushed on the home screen.

In the next release clicking on the on/off item on the menu will launch the shutdown menu.
If you are intersted in shutting down in as few a clicks as possible then Coco's method is better or even better map 0 to do a shutdown directly.

Firstly, thanks to all the xbmc team and the skinners.
Secondly, I have a minor issue.
I have a few movies in which step forward and resume aren't working as they should. Most of the time, on pushing the right thumb stick to the right, the progress bar at the bottom appears and the current position time changes, but the progress bar itself does not colour in and the movie does not change position. Similarly, most of the time resume doesn't work - the movie starts at the beginning.
Occasionally (and I can't find any pattern), resume does work and then the step forward also works.
The same movies work perfectly in PM3.
One example has the following spec (from the little black button on my gamepad (while in PM3 skin)) : audio mp3lib MPEG layer-2, layer-3) br:96000 sr:48.00khs chns:2; video FFmpeg MPEG-4 fps:25 660x278 early/late:0/1
File extension is .avi
I have a PAL xbox in NTSC mode with component cables to 720P TV with 720P selected in XBMC.
These movies also show the same symptoms in Aeon, not sure if that's relevant.
I recreated the problem in order to capture logs :
1. I started one of the 'problem movies' in PM3 and tried the thumb stick and the d-pad - the movie resumed properly and step forward worked properly. I rebooted.
2. I started the same movie in Media Stream and tried the thumb stick and the d-pad - the movie resumed properly and step forward worked properly. I rebooted.
3. I started the same movie in Media Stream and tried the thumb stick and the d-pad - the movie resumed properly and step forward worked properly. I stopped the movie and started it again. This time it didn't resume and step forward didn't work. I stopped the movie again and started it again. This final time it didn't resume and step forward didn't work. I rebooted.
I got these logs :

It's a memory issue I'm afraid but when we get the lighter version of the skin up and running it should allow you to avoid this issue.
In the meantime try using list views and/or not using fanart/custom backgrounds as all of these will reduce memory usage slightly.

I can vouch for this as I use it MUCH! Well, I use it on Blackbolts MC360 skin which has an option for a shutdown timer. I love to use my xbox for listening/watching media as I'm falling asleep. Very relaxing . . . :nod:
This MediaStream skin has such a beautiful, polished look. It'll be great to get all the bugs and quirks out. Definitely top notch.

From personal experience I was a Xephyr (Now Aeon) user back in the day and as it evolved I found it impossible to use at 1080i. Our only possible solution is to create a lite version of the skin which in turn could compromise the look and feel of MediaStream. This however is something we are looking at and if at all possible will be provided as an option as development continues.

I cannot recreate the first two issues. Sounds like you may need to redo your install.
Emulators looks for the source name of "Emus"
The title of the dialog shows what is being scanned (Scanning Movie Information).
The current directory being scanned is shown below the title.
Are you using a supported resolution? Doesn't sound like it :)

Still no fix for this in .89
Seemed to work fine in .87 but not in .88
And I would love if you could separate the option for removing thumbs in list-view. like "disable thumbs in list view for videos", "disable thumbs in list view for music". It wouldn't be perfekt but at least it would do the job until you have the time to put in something more advanced :)

I'm sorry to be a bitch about this. I post this for the third time since I didn't get any response the last time. These things are still an issue for me. I am using the latest T3CH and the latest MediaStream.
Time issue: an example is that it says 09.52 in the background and 9.52 in the foreground.
International chars issue: this isn't just here in the this menu. Everywhere when there is an å ä ö with your nice special font (proboably more chars for other languages) the alignment is wrong.
Please address that you have seen my bug report and are working on fixing it :) Thanks!

Noticed something small but thought I would throw it in here. When using the show media count with TV Shows the number overlaps the title in the bottom right. It works fine for movies though. I Love this skin keep up the good work.

When i first tried Mediastream i didn't have my xbox connected to the internet and so i disabled the weather in the skin settings (so the link to the weather screen didn't show on the home page). This was using version 0.87.
Now that I have my xbox connected to the internet again, i want to re-enable the weather link on the home screen but I'm finding that there is no longer a "disable weather" option in the skin settings menu. There is a "show weather on home" option, but that only turns the little weather panel in the top right of the home screen on and off for me...
I'm guessing something screwy is going on when i updated versions of the skin (using 0.90 or 0.91 now - whatever was in the last t3ch release) and i have tried several times uploading a completely fresh version of xbmc and mediastream. Now that the "disable weather" option for the home screen is unavailable, i seem to be stuck with my old setting from the very first version of the skin applied with no way to change it? Is that possible?
I have tried switching to aeon enabling/disabling the weather from the home screen links, but that has no effect on mediastream when i switch back. The weather link and screen works as expected in aeon and pm3 though...
The weather link appears fine on my laptop under xbmc for windows, even with my userdata copied over from my xbox install...
Any thoughts on how I can go about fixing this? I just tried to download an old version of mediastream so I could change the appropriate setting, but the links to old versions no longer seem to be available on the team razorfish website. I think this would be the best starting point to try (i haven't saved any old versions of the skin) - can anyone advise where i might find downloads for the old versions?

Weather is now hard coded into the Home Screen as there was an issue with animations etc relating to some menu items.
With regards to the issue you are having I would suggest that you have a look at the guisettings.xml in your Userdata of XBMC. In there if you could remove all traces of MediaStream. These are the skin specific settings that are stored to personalise each skin. Then reboot your xbox and you will have a clean slate to then personalise to your liking. To edit the xml just copy over to your machine via FTP then make the changes , save and overwrite your existing one. Also from memory as opposed to a shutdown or restart press the power button on your xbox then boot as normal. This should as I say solve the problem.

from guisettings.xml and rebooted but the problem was still there at first...
I then removed all references to weather settings from within guisettings.xml and rebooted again and it's all sweet now! Was fine to leave all other MediaStream settings so I didn't have to re-enter them all. Thanks, this had been driving me nuts for a few days now, much appreciated...

I'm finding the font size for movie plot summaries a bit small for my eyes. One feature request is to allow font sizing - may be helpful for people with less than perfect vision, or a home set-up that has smaller a screen with bigger distance between chair and screen.
In the meantime, I'd be happy to adjust the font sizing in the XML settings if someone can direct me to which font is used for plot summaries.

Not currently as to get rid of a flashing backgrounds issue we had to make it so that the default option is one of the menu items that can't be turned off.

When using the OnScreenKeyboard I find you can't navigate the menus with the up/down/left/right keys. Since the button clicks of the remote I use get translated into keystrokes this means I can't use the OSK with my remote.

I would love if there was a different icon for going up a level in views. When it says no thumb...sometimes I'm not sure if i'm on the correct item to go up a level. It all up levels had an icon of a big arrow like the new PM.3 HD skin that would be efficient.
also..... Thanks in general. I have been using xbmc for 5 years or plus...and this new skin has reinvented my media center.
i run it on xp at home and an original xbox. I would love to start pushing HD quality, but my tv needs upgraded....and my HTPC isn't capable of it either. I'm thinking Mac, but haven't made the jump yet.
Guys, don't know if your aware of this bug, but my wife stumbled upon it. Whist in list view, if you have a folder with not many items in ie the scrollbar doesnt show, YOU can still click left and select the invisible scroll bar. now as you cant see it and there arn't enough items to cause the list to scroll it would appear that the system has hung. Which isnt the case since if you click right you get your control back.

There is a way to start with videos when you have a harmony remote.
With activities you can select a source, add videos.
Everytime you switch to xbmc it will startup with videos.

First of all let me say mediastream is a great skin. I'm trying to use it on my Xbox (with latest t3ch build 2008-09-19, mediastream v0.91), but as other users have pointed out it is slow in some cases. This is understandable since have Xbox is limited memory.
However I'm having issue with loading movies from my network. When I select a movie caching subtitles dialog come up and then xbox hangs. I don't have this issue with project mayhem skin, but I'm not sure if it is related to the skin. Anyone else having similar issues?

That sounds like memory issues (netwrok cacheing usually needs more memory than local cacheing). Try the new v0.92 release :grin:

Yep, those images are not in the lighter theme as we're still figuring out how to do a similar thing in the most efficient manner

I can't seem to replicate this at all, can you send me your guisettings.xml files (or at least the skinsettings section) so I can see what options you are using and also let me know which view (I assume List?), and whether it is files mode or library? (and probably what area of the library too)

It might be a memory issue, are you using v0.92 which has a lighter default theme to handle such issues?

Check the Skin Settings as there is a use horizontal vis option for exactly this purpose

The old "Region X" DVD software for xbox was pretty bad, but the new DVD player software in xbmc is really very usable. It has occasional interlacing issues, but the options in the picture menu tends to fix them, although it often takes a bit of trial and error.
I'd actually recommend it over the majority of DVD players these days. Clearly, stuff like Oppo kills it, but otherwise it holds it's own fairly solidly.

Okay, I've been playing with various DVDs and I can't seem to repeat the problem.
Whereas last night xbmc would hang, crash or simply not do anything when asked to play a DVD, tonight it is autoloading DVDs as soon as I put them in.
Very strange. I'll post again if I encounter the issue again.

First thank you for your work, the skin is really fantastic.
I was wondering if it's possible, while listening to music in visualization mode, to have the OSD moving slowly from the left to the right of the screen, to prevent burning ?
In fact, I often put the OSD on a black screen without visualization, and the vertical white line is burning my TV. It's only temporary because it's a LCD but I can clearly see it.
Anyway, I don't know if it's an issue for other people.

Unless you actually press 'Info' the OSD will disappear after a few seconds to prevent burn in.

Yeah, I have that bug aswell. Happens when you disable thumbs in a category. Hope they will fix it soon.

That was fixed earlier in the week and I posted to say so (can't remember which thread or which day but I definitely remember doing it)
As for the time alignment, it was an issue with XBMC itself and a fix is now in SVN so should filter it's way through to builds etc soon enough

But when it goes to transition to the next fan art it fades out to a complete black for about 20 seconds before the next image fades. This only happens occasionally and if i do a reset it seems to fix itself.
And secondly is there a way to speed up the transition time between fanart? It seems to be about 25 seconds right now, I'd like to have it closer 6-7 seconds.

Is this just for the fanart or does this apply to the background switching as well? I'd love to be able to speed up the backgrounds a bit (even if I have to manually edit the timer).

Couple of suggestions for an already great skin :)
1. For music can the main option always open the library and if you press right and choose browse it always open in files mode, think this is how movies\tv shows work. At the moment it appears to just go to how you left it with either option.
2. Would it be possible to put a link on the sub menus from the main screen for plugins. Eg, if I press right on movies I can choose plugins and then it opens the plugins window. Currently as I use library only I have to choose browse and then plugins.

To anyone who's interested, i found the code that controls the transition speed of each background. I changed mine to a 6 second delay and it works very smoothly.
Go into the Mediastream/720p folder and open up Includes.xml
search for the piece of code <timeperimage> change the middle number to whatever you like, mine is set for 6 seconds so it looks like:
<timeperimage>6000</timeperimage>
Thanks that actually solved the problem. Not it's pretty much flawless. Now to figure out why most of my movies are duplicated in library mode.
if you rename or move the files it will create dups. have you gone into video library settings and run "clean library"?

I'd love to see a version of 'Media Preview' (with hidden info) for TV Episodes.
Maybe a "FanArt" view for both Movies/TV/etc for "fanart fanboys".. These views would keep 1/2 to 3/4 of the screen for fanart display while using the rest for navigation/information..

Just a suggestion, and an FYI while I'm at it: all the comments I get from people viewing my HTPC are basically from the fan-art. Comments such as "Oooh, how do you get those pictures of the movies or tv shows to appear when you're scrolling through the movies".
My opinion maybe, but I think fanart adds a lot to the experience, even though I'm sure some will argue in favour of using more screen real estate over fanart :)
Speaking of Media Preview,
I like the "old" (0.91?) Media Preview instead of the new animated one. While the animations look nice, I found it a bit more useful to have the mini-coverflow mode just below the movie information.
IMO, the way it is now, the top right where the movies drop from looks a bit tacky to me.
Don't want to appear like I'm nitpicking, because this is frankly probably one of the best themes I've used since XBMC/XBMP and I'm loving the experience it's giving me.. Just trying to give my 0.02$ :D

That all depends on how you setup your options. There are 3 or 4 different looks for the Media Preview depending on how you setup your options so you should be able to get it looking how you like it again

I have 2 issues with it tho...
1) Sometimes when clicking "Scan for new content" on a TV show it finds nothing (although I know there are new shows there) - doing this in other skins works fine.
2) Newly added TV shows in Library mode won't play.
no idea why tho - when switching to Files mode they play fine.
Any idea why? Memory issue maybe? (I'm using FanArt in the TV Shows backgrounds)

Weird that's it's only NEW episodes that don't play.... old ones work everytime. And they work while in Files mode - and that shows the FanArt too...

lite theme is the default theme in the T3CH release although for the next release of our skin (next Monday probably) the richer theme will be the default and you'll have to select lite from the options.

Yep, I agree it could work but was just wondering how many people would use portrait style images for TV stuff. If there wasn't too many then to make it work properly I would have to write some code to handle landscape style images (which is what I'm currently thinking more people would prefer?)
If the majority want a view in this style but for landscape style images instead of portrait then that's what we'll look at (I wouldn't have thought there was much of a demand for views that handle portrait style images for TV)
But there aren't any landscape sources for TV shows (that know of at least) where as there's plenty of portrait ones - posters/DVD covers, unless you mean banners of course.
On the other hand the episodes will only work in a landscape view.
EDIT: Sorry if that sounds like I'm being selfish wanting my own views - I appreciate all the work made on this skin.

I like that Team RazorFish is considering new veiws for poster art, but what about veiws for people who use DVD Box Icons ( like the ones found on MediaIcons.org ). Is there any veiws or skin options that could be added to compliment that style?
I enjoy the look of the Tilted DVD Boxes and find it to be a much "cleaner" look for me, but a tilted DVD Box looks very sloppy when it is framed or boxed in.
Any way that Team RazorFish could consider something in their skin to further compliment the Tilted DVD Box style icons?

First of all I'd just like to say great skin, fantastic design I really appreciate your work.
I'm using 0.92 at the moment but have also used several previous versions. I'm on the latest T3ch release of XBMC and it's solely installed on the Xbox, installed after a fresh format of a new 80gb HDD.
I have searched through the forum for info on this but haven't found any. Apologies if I've missed it.
I seem to have problems playing video files and it only seems to happen when using the MediaStream skin. Video files can abruptly stop playing at random points even though the cache is at 80%. Also when using the left, right, up and down arrow buttons on the remote to jump forward and back, the video abruptly stops after I've done it. The same happens with fast forward and rewind. It seems to happen more with TS files recorded from satellite streams than anything else.
Also after opening maybe 3 or 4 video files in a row, it just stops opening video files altogether and does nothing when I try to play them. If I restart XBMC from the power menu then all is well for the next 3 or 4 videos, then it stops playing them again.
I've tested extensively when using other skins (xTV, Focus, PM3) and it never happens. All of the videos are from network shares on either a samba NAS share (direct cable link through a switch) or a Windows share on a PC (wireless connection but solid and good bandwidth).
I don't see how it can be your skin, especially as nobody else seems to have mentioned it, but I can't get around the fact that it never happens unless I'm using MediaStream.
Hope you can help, or categorically tell me that it's nothing to do with MediaStream. Either response would be appreciated!

You're right, titled icons don't suit a frame at all.
Maybe just an option to not display frames is all that's needed?

I'm not sure where to post this, but here it goes. I really havn't touched my xbox in a while. Yesterday I upgraded my xbmc which was way out of date. Now, when i go to settings and click anything(video, music, pics, programs, etc.) the screen goes blank. I can still hear the cursor moving when i move the d pad but no image on the screen. Any help would be appreciated.
I kinda like these icons, but as I go to their site, I see that they are just 128x128. That's too small for the type of usage given in XBMC. They also include a shadow which restricts their usage. Ie if the skinner wants the skin to have a reflection instead of a shadow then he might run intro trouble. Also the tilt is fixed.
So what I was thinking is, if there are enough requests for this type of view/icon: what if media stream could generate these icons dynamically using existing artwork? There would need to be an implementation that tilts the artwork and puts it into a box-shaped 3D form. The side of the box would be made automatically to include the movie name, with colors according to context (similar to fanart). Then media stream could manipulate the tilting as it wished.
I realize that this would be very tough to achieve, but the advantages is that anyone could use this view, not just those who get the media from mediaicons.org/, with the added bonus of more quality and flexibility.

FourTwentySmilz, I hardly think that migueld was picking apart your suggestion, he was just expressing his view, which, lets face is what forums are all about, right.
However, I have to agree with him, I have just loaded some of the icons and well, for me at least they look pretty bad on my 1080p screen compared to higher res art. But if you are happy with them then that is great.
On the second point, and I am by no means a developer so I have no idea how difficult it would be to have the view generated dynamically but it would give a much more appealing result. Also it would leave you the option to use other views (as migueld suggests) which utilise much larger thumbs, views which would look terrible with the 128x128 icons. I think that if any work has to go in to this then it should be done properly and in a way that gives benefits to all users of MediaStream.
I hope you find an easy solution to your request but as migueld suggests, if there is enough buyin then perhaps the devs will look into a more pleasent solution for all users of MediaStream.
Oh, and I have not forgotten that you may have to download new art for all your movies but just think of the benfits you would have going forward if you ever wanted to try a different view.

No where in my post did I flame your suggestion, in fact I thought it looked good. I was merely putting the point across that this could benefit all users of MediaStream if implemented correctly. After all MediaStream is out there for everyone to use so surely you should appreciate that your good suggestion could be beneficial to all and not just people who use these tyes of icons. That is all we were trying to say.
You do not have to conform to others wants, you posted your request and two people gave their views, just as you did. This community is not just about who gets what it is about everyone working together to get the most of a great skin for all platforms but I am glad you manged to do the mod yourself.
I am sure there was no ill intent from either migueld or myself in our responses to your post, we were just trying to expand on your suggestion.
If you are at the up button of a view (to go to the parent directory) it says no thumb. Couldn't there be something more fancy or displaying nothing at all?

I think i've come across a bug. When you load an idx/sub subtitle in XBMC Beta2 (and 1), the video crashes, returning to the dir where your movie file is. Loading .srt files work perfectly fine tho.
Installed on a 2GB USB mem, tried from LiveCD too, but same problem.
Custom backgrounds disappear, and reappear if you enter and then return.
For example, my custom background for tv-shows is not visible, but if i enter tv-shows and then return, it's there.
