Removing dvd drive crashes xbmc

Hi,
got a problem with xbmc hopefully someone can help me with it, i followed a guide on here about installing 7.10 server and building up as required. Im using the version of xbmc currently in the svn and my problem is if i try to remove the dvd drive from my htpc (all my media is streamed) xbmc locks up on the home screen, any one come across this before ?

Sorry i havent included version numbers or anything but im a noob !

I can confirm that it (can) works without a dvd drive (I pulled mine after initial install). Follow the instructions in althekiller's link.
