Hey! I was using the excellent xTV skin, but recently discovered Aeon. Totally amazing! It makes my old Xbox feel like a new machine. Anyway, I love the idea of being able to set your own backdrops. Using Google Image Search and Photoshop, I created a bunch of 1280x720 Music backdrops for bands I like. Obviously, I didn't create any of these images, I just resized and reframed them, tweaking the sharpness and color and what not. I tried to keep the placement of the Aeon menu bar in mind while editing.

Being a good XBMC community citizen, I figured I should share. Hope you folks enjoy one or more of these! Oh, and no malicious copyright infringement is intended!

Hows everyone doin? First off, I just have to say, Im fairly new to Aeon, and it just continues to amaze me. As I have been using XBMC for quite some time now, I was always kinda stuck on PMIII, but once I got the guts the make the jump, I havent looked back since. Great job to DJH, cause your hard work is truely appreciated.

Anyway, while accessorizing Aeon with some great backdrops, I noticed some of my favorite bands were missing. So I took this opportunity to contribute a little bit, and be able to feature some of my favorite music while doing so. I have been experimenting a little with making some backdrops, so I figured Id share them with you. Nothing special, just did some quick photoshopping to some google images, and wham, some fresh backdrops. There are some repeated originals, with different effects, such as black and white, or zoomed, so sorry for the repeats, but just choose whatever you like. My collection is a little limited, yet diverse, but let me know if you have any requests for a certain band and I will see what I can do. Also, I uploaded the 1080 jpg, but I also have copies of 720 bmps, so just pm me if interested.

Here's some more stills-turned Aeon walls.

Again, they're sometimes a bit pixelated or blurred, but it's the best I can do right now. Some are a bit streched to make the 720, some have been sharpened up and some have been cleaned up. A few of these are originally massive pics - like up to 5000px wide..I'll use those ones to later make HQ 1080 walls.

They're all on box.net now. It's easier this way than making a pack. You can pick and choose which ones you want. And the page looks lovely.

I have recently come across a ridiculous amount of high quality anime images ;) I have also done some fanart for anime tv series as well. They have all been added to thetvdb.com. I have also done most of the corresponding tv posters for anyone interested. I have done, Aquarion, Guyver, Eureka Seven, Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop, Wolf's Rain, Voltron, Tripping the rift, Thundercats, Venture brothers, squidbillies, Harvey birdman, Invader Zim. I know some of those aren't really "anime" but they are "animated" and I like cartoons :D

First, I signed up and the site looks like it has a lot of great high quality material. I was going to buy some credits but I don't see where it tells how many credits each image will cost me? Is it 1 credit per image? That would seem very reasonable.
Second, are you an admin on the site? I think i came across your username there. If you are, nice site. It is quite a good resource.

lol hey- sorry, ya wasn't actually trying to push the site or anything, just qualifying the resources as high resolution.

Ya, its 1:1 and I'm the admin there. I'm going to create an HTPC section and upload all that i've created. you earn 1 credit for every 3 that are downloaded that you submit, so, in theory, it can be free... but credits are very cheap--just something we did to support the insane amount of bandwidth we use up.

I can probably work to do some sort of refer type process from here that allows some freebies... More to follow.

I was not accusing you of trying to pedal your wares ;) I definitely understand that the cost of hosting such a vast amount of images can get expensive. I will be buying some credits in the near future to fuel my obsession with Holiday flicks. Cheers.

Perhaps you could upload them to meligrove.com so they can be scraped by XBMC? Or maybe just put the 720p versions there and allow people to buy the 1080p ones from your site?

Well you don't have to buy them. You can upload images of your own and earn credits that way. I think that keeps the community growing so you don't have just leachers. While I don't agree with charging for the images simply to try and make some cash, I can understand using the money to pay for hosting. I can't even imagine how much hosting for sites like meligrove and tvdb are. Anyway, since there is an alternative to paying I don't really see a problem with it. As an xbmc/plex user I think it would be great if jayhawk put all his "htpc" images on meligrove so they could be scraped and support THIS community. I know that any images I create from content on R1DB will be going on meligrove. Just my 2 cents.

If meligrove wants to rsync that directory --I'd be open to that, but honestly between my day job, maintaining that site, and my personal life, it's difficult to find time to keep another site updated with things r1db has.

I don't know who owns meligrove, but they're welcome to contact me. I'll happily extend the directories of the high res poster art and backdrops.

I'm a bit ouf step with what's going on, but it seems like there's a few places to get backdrops from now. It's quite confusing..Why isn't there just one site for everything? There's no option to upoad anything on meligrove and it's hard to get any original images to work with...I've asked _djh a couple of times where he gets pics from and he hasn't said anything.

There is: http://www.meligrove.com/upload it's the link on the bottom that says "Contribute." Easy to miss because it's at the bottom of the page and doesn't really stand out or anything.

Make sure the filename is the movie's IMDB id as that's the only way it'll be uploaded.
