I think the DVD2Xbox software broke my DVD-ROM drive..

I was trying to backup my original copy of midnight club 3 and heard that it was having a little trouble from the other room, but i carried on what i was doing. It eventually failed to copy 20 files. But now it wont recognise any type of disc.

I belive i have the Philips DVD drive, i hear that the samsung drive is best. If i do manage to get one from somewhere, can i just swap them over simple as that? Or will i have to reload XBMC or do i have to do somthing with firmware?
Or will it just be like super cool and just work?
