Added : New Skin MARK-III. Think of it as a cross between a few different skins I have worked on. If you plan on using it on the xbox I recommend you resize the background images to 1024x512 and put them in an xpr file or you will get serious lag in Home menu. This skin is for 720p and up only though it will still work on lower
just look pretty average, It also has no 4x3 support
I recommend that you up your icon cache to at least 512 anything
smaller and list view looks pretty average (Linux XBMC is allready
bigger than that anyway).
The Backgrounds are ones I found all over the net thanks to google
image search if you own the right to any of them please let me know
The exception is the the Pictures Kitty one that I took from the
original AEON skin Backpack.http://www.aeonproject.com/
humanist_521_condensed_bt.ttf font was found as a free download

Liberation fonts have their own licence in the fonts directory

LOL well this one was easy, I made it side by side with vision 2 as you can probably tell :laugh: basically most of the dialogs and some of the other stuff in vision2 that 9T9 wants to change came FROM this skin to help complete vision2. And I got the home screen and a couple of views from vision2 and changed them a little.
Really you could say this is Vision2 with backgrounds and different view types ( I think I themed it a little better ) and animated it.
Think of it as Vision 2 "my way" not 9t9's thus the name MARK-III as in its the third version of os a skin because I bought back the original blue color and some of the streaks from vision 1

Kudos on the skin! Been looking forward to this secret youve been hiding while we've been doing Vision2! Hopefully I'll give it a shot sometime soon, as we both know my current status :/
I can sit here and go off complimenting all the aspects of Mark-III, but youve already heard a lot of them before in IRC :)
I'm looking forward to it though! If its anything like what Basics-Vision did to Vision, I'm sure it will kick major butt, like Batman did in The Dark Knight

I didn't see this coming, impressive!
Instead of downscale the images, wouldn´t a uncompressed format background image load quicker?
I tried and on the xbox it was even worse (because they much bigger file size) the quickest way to load the images on the xbox is to make sure they are to the power of 2 (8,16,32,64,128,512,104,2048.....) and in an XPR then it nativally loads them quicker and was the only way I could get the home menu to animate smoothly.
This is due to stupid file system on the xbox jmarshall tells me, on win32 or linux and probably apple it can read the files much quicker and its not an issue
But feel free to prove me wrong

P.S. I'm not sure all the stuff needed for this skin has been ported back to XBOX source from the LINUX branch so if you run into errors on the xbox sorry you will just have to wait

just checked it out man, the animation is class especially when you go from full list to media info in your albums... The pics are a little step down from the vision 2 set i think tho [whats with the cats??? lol] but everything else is spot on...
Still needs an rss feed on the home screen aswell, also i used the xboxbacks theme from the other page and it increased the speed a great deal!

Thanks for the smaller bg's jezz, works like a charm...Will you be adding multiple backdrop cycling? One thing I noticed is that in library mode, the little check-mark for 'watched' is missing. and perhaps you could throw in an osd from basics-vision, I dont really like the standard osd. Other than that, I'm loving it!
Ahh yeah I hadn't gotten around to adding the watched overlays yet to any view its on the todo list
Music OSD nope not going to but if you have a look at script settings it has an option for lyrics now
I mean the video OSD. I like the one in the pm3-theme in basics-vision.

Out of nowhere my new favorite skin! I threw in some grainy black and whites to try and put the focus on the icons. I also changed the hue to orange which goes better with the room. A million thanks Jezz and company for doing all the dirty work.

If anybody would like to come up with a smoking hot original new set of modern looking default Icons (with blue theme in them somwhere maybe black/blue) that can be used to some extent in the homescreen as well. I will seriously consider making them the new default. (not that I don't like mikes but I have overused them a little in my skins)
feel free to do like 1 or 2 examples (so you don't waste time on all of them) and PM me or post them here in the thread

Hello. My apologies.. there are two downloads here..
One is MARK-III.rar which contains a directory of Skins
MARK-III_Xbox-Backs.rar which contains a file: Xbox-Backs.xpr
I am using XBMC for Xbox. Which one do I download and how do I "install" it ?
Once again, apologies for the noob question.:no:
you download both
Unrar MARK-III.rar
then unrar MARK-III_Xbox-Backs.rar and put the xpr in the media folder of the unrared MARK-III.rar (should be the same dir as textures.xpr) then upload the whole thing to your xbox skins folder (next to Project Mayhem III) and select the Xbox-Backs theme in settings
MARK-III_Xbox-Backs.rar is optional but it will make it run 100% better on the xbox

Okay, so I added my own custom button to a group. When I press up it skips over that button and goes to the 2nd one up (the one that used to be last). How do I tell it there is a new button in the group?
I'd like to make the XBOX tehme the default theme for the XBMC Favorites installer because 95% of the people who use the Installer are using the XBOX. How can I do this? I'd like to have the current default theme to still be available (for the Linux users).

Lines 419-424 contain the added button. This adds a sixth button to that menu, but onlt 5 are visible because I do not have a music videos library. Pressing up from the main group the 2nd to last on gets highlited.

well adding the sixth button is your problem you will need to remove one of the others to get nav to work properly from the main sideways moving control

True, I just copied and pasted from what I thought was a blank button. Thanks for the info. I might just change it to <onup>101</onup> and forgo adding a bunch of blank butons. It'll always start at the top of the list, but that is where I mainly go to anyhow, so less button pressing.
Nice work man this skin is great. I had been checking up on skins in about a year and I'm glad I did just a week ago and found the Vision2 skin which I couldnt believe how good it was compared to what I was using. Then yesterday I found this skin and it is everything that I wanted. I like the media info view since I'm running in 4:3.
I do have a couple of question one is when I update movies to the libary sometimes it changes the name completely (example movie called RISE was added to my libary as Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines) or change to a different language. I could not find a way to see the filename so I could correct the issues from the libary & movie information views. Is there a way to view it? if not could the filename by add to the movie information screen?
Second question for some movies I have it doesnt bring back any plot information but it does have it on imdb (example is Cleaner (2007)) is there a way to fix that or even manually add the information?

I think you will find thats actually a bug with python currenty not with the skin python is having issues on multi core machines at the moment

Thanks for the update. The script is working ok with the Project Mayhem III standard skin so I assumed maybe it wasn't implemented yet in this skin. I will have to try it on another machine or on my xbox and see what happens. Again great skin, it's my favourite so far.

Great skin - I've been using it for the whole past week now, and I'm really liking it!
The only thing so far I've found that I want to use other than PMIII!
Kricker, that's one of the few negative aspects of Vision2 and Mark-III, the lack of a play DVD botton.
The simpler way is to go to file manager and run the DVD from there, if you use it a lot maybe you want to add a botton to Home Screen to run the dvd.
Check the Vision2 topic, i've posted there how to do that.
Jezz_x please add a button to MARK-III and ViSion2 :)

I useally have a dvd drive share in each section ( so I can access the contents of DVD's ) and open up the context menu on it and click play disc
I'll look at the vision2 thread, as the wife and kid are gonna need a simple "Play DVD" button when a DVD is in the drive. Navigating thru the file manager or accessing the content of the DVD drive isn't gonna fly.

Gonna try this when I get home. I second or third the DVD drive button any chance you would put it in for us xbox users. Thanks for your time with this skin looks amazing as does Vision 2.
Another easy workaround is to add a botton to your Userdata/Keymap.xml.
In global remote section, add this:
<zero>XBMX.PlayDVD()</zero>
This way it will work on other skins as well.

Amazing skin Jezz X, loved Vision 2, but I missed some list views etc... and Mark III is Vision 2 upgraded and more complete.
Both are great but Mark III is my new fav.
I'll try to make a theme for it.

I've made a swedish translation but there are some strings in home.xml that does not work with the swedish language.
e.g. <label>$LOCALIZE[31052] $LOCALIZE[5]</label>
It's not big deal but it's supposed to be one word in swedish and not two
Great skin btw although I must say that I don't like all of the backgrounds. E.g. the background for movies, I don't think that the red color on the seats goes very well with the other blue stuff but maybe thats just me. I love all the nice views and animation and that makes me use it instead of vision 2.

Anybody else getting issues with get thumb's on this skin for movies. What happened for me now on 2 occasions which I've tried is the progress animation spins around for 5 - 10 minutes then comes back with no new thumbs to display.
It is due to issues with MoviePosterdb.com. I suggest disabling fetching thumbs/posters from there (Set Content->Settings).

I taught it was an issue with this skin sorry for posting here in the first place. Cool is this a permanent or temp issue with movieposterdb cos I love this feature as it gives much more choice of posters.
We don't own that website here at XBMC, so we don't know if it is temp or not. Just keep trying in your browser :)

heh not really it didn't get a lot of positive feedback when I first made it so it kind of slipped away But I might add it to the updateing the classics bit since it still is very modern looking but I think the first thing I will do is change the icons to somthing more dark.
