Speaking as a graphic designer I like this implementation of the media flags much better. I think it looks a lot cleaner. I would just align the bottom of the grey movie info panel with the bottom of the movie poster (I've always felt that those two elements should be aligned at the bottom even back when it was just text and didn't have the grey box behind it) and maybe refine the logos a little bit and make them a little smaller. I try not to chime in with change/requests because often times it would just be my own personal opinion and it seems like you already get too much of that but this time I'm speaking as a creative professional and offering a little bit of art direction (if you choose to welcome it). The balance of elements on the screen has been just slightly off in the last month. I absolutely LOVE this skin and the usability of it has increased 400% in the last couple of weeks. Its now the only skin I use (I used to switch back to PM3 when I wanted to make any changes to anything). Anyway, just my creative 2 cents. Great job on the skin.

I have one more idea too - don't know if you'll like it though... it regards the idea you had about custom plot descriptions for movies, cut down to length so they fit neatly in the space provided.
I see a potential problem here where the design of Aeon might change in some ways, or even if you ever make another skin (!), or with other skins, that these custom plot descriptions may very well end up being Aeon (Alpha) only, in which case there might not be much motivation for people to contribute in doing these for hundreds of movies, if there's a chance they might only be useful for one skin.
What if something like this was implemented, if possible: When hovering on a movie in Showcase view and the info comes up, if the text is too big for the placeholder, can a press of the DOWN arrow on the remote be made to allow a (nicely designed) scroll effect?
In short, when hovering over a movie in Showcase mode, the LEFT and RIGHT buttons will return back to scrolling the movies - fine. But what about the UP and DOWN arrows? Can they be used while still viewing the information, to scroll extra text?
If so, then at the bottom of the text there can be some sort of nice subtle slow-pulsing arrow or whatever to signify extra text, and the up and down arrows on the remote can be used to view the text without breaking the info view.

I love the new showcase look. I think I agree with platanito though that the info should be moved down to the same level as the poster. That would make more of the fanart visible, which tbh, is the mainfocus of showcase view in my opinion. I like the traditional logos for all of the HD DD type stuff as well. Maybe everyone in this thread should add their vote to the media flagging thread to let the devs know that this feature is in fact wanted by a lot of users.

Let's be honest. I think there are too many ideas here to be done well. DJH has made, in my opinion, the best skin ever. Very elegant, intuitive, consistent, and just beautiful. I don't use visualizations or screen savers on my Xbox so I can always have it on this beautiful skin.
Give him time and hope this will all eventually work.
I think I got the approximate translation. Google translate was talking about gels, stielvoll, and Vizualisierung, but I made some guesses on those. ;)

My 2 cents. I prefer the icons to the text for the media flags but personally would prefer them smaller and below the plot. Having them at the top will stop long movie names displaying properly and I only really want them as a reference and not in a prominent position thats distracting when I just want to read the movie title.

Well you could remove the 'All Seasons' link altogether (see the advancedsettings.xml option below) and then set 'Flatten TV Shows' to 'Always'.

I think this looks pretty sharp, (with the colors to match the title, as was suggested). As far as how to fill in the blank spot where the media flags were supposed to go...why not add the buttons for "get fanart" and "refresh info" or something. Maybe not those two precise features...but some kind of useful tool for manipulating the information. Cast? Credits? I wouldn't mind seeing the entire "movie information" panel just slide out when you hover on the movie. Just done in the cleeeean style here.
Oh...and as a suggestion...what about an option to change the time you have to hover before it displays this screen? IMHO, it could be just a tad quicker. :D

Can't be done. The buttons only work within the hard-coded windows.

Can't be done, either. There's no ability to define those kinds of variables skin-side.
I'm also leaving the flag buttons as they are. While I appreciate all the suggestions, I've tried them out and prefer the originals. Of course, if anyone feels that strongly about it, there's always the option to mod them.
Just been looking at the recently added episodes list view. I think it would be great to have the original aired date of the episode rather than a rating which seems to be missing from most of my shows (especially new ones which this list shows).

I think adding buttons for the sake of filling in space is a really bad thing to do. Keep it simple, keep it clean is my opinion.
In fact, I always had the desire to see as many buttons, switches and controls removed as possible from the main screens and hidden in sub windows like the shutdown / context menus. I find people who use my HTPC often manage to click on this like 'stack' which I never want to be unset and just confuses them... I'd love to see the option to hide most of these controls for normal day to day use.
I'm fairly new to Aeon. Finally got the XBMC_PC sorted on my puter to run it.
While I think the iconic approach looks nice, I personally prefer the actual info (720p, 1080p - 5.1, 5.0 etc) than just an icon. If I did have a comment, it would be that the black info tabs seem too dark in comparison to the rest of the view. The plot/director/writer info etc should be the focus - whereas to me, the media flags seem to grab focus.
You have done a fantastic job of this djh. Now I'll have to figure out how to switch my xbox to HD :eek: to run it.
ALPHA14 is up. I've had to take my eye off this one for a few days as I've had work to do, but hopefully nothing new's been broken. Remember, you can pop the fake media flags on via the Aeon menu. You'll have to forgive the bloat on this version - I need to sort out the textures.

i really like the showcase view within the library for movies but as i don't really browse my movies within the library (i have my reasons ..) and i also prefer wall mode since i have ALOT of movies i was hoping that getting the plot to display within the info box when you pull it up wall mode would be added soon.

(i don't use library mode is cause the main way i display my movies is to sort them by date added which is not an allowed sort in library mode .. plus i also have different sources setup in movies for dvdrips vs. non-dvdrips and i prefer to have different lists not one giant list)

You can't edit them - they're just placeholders to fill the space. You can turn them on and off, that's it.

It's the little tabs that show things like 720p, Dolby Digital etc. It's a feature folks have been pressing for for a while that's yet to appear in XBMC, though obviously that's understandable given the work involved. I've popped some fake ones in as placeholders.

I must say that the skin is just amazing! I can't say I know how it works, it's just like magic with every new version. Curious with TV shows when I cycle through mine it sometimes grabs a background that matches the show and sometimes it just grabs an image from my store. For movies it just grabs any old background from my store and never tries to match them. Do I need to set it to a certain media source (imdb etc) in order for that to work, or is this feature the media tags you keep talking about? Or does it not work for movies yet?
Pure genius, I love the constant updates! I'm not a very patient person :)

duncan, do you remember a mock-up screen you made a while back showing the length of the film, but also after that told you what time the film would finish - is this possible to do, or something to wait for xbmc to catch up with? It did look rather nice.

You know when browsing movies with fanart the fanart changes for a bit to the backdrop. Wouldn't it be nicer if it were just showing the next fanart immediateley or still showing the one before till the next one loads?

Sorry, I'm not ignoring you - just busy. The thing with this is that the timings of animations when it comes to switching between big images has to be very specific - not only do you have to ensure one load doesn't coincide with another (stutter city if it does), but you have to make sure the crossfade doesn't leave you with a black screen or cut off before it's done. With all that in mind, and after a lot of experimenting with different timings and methods, the current system's pretty much the only one that works particularly well.

Bear in mind that I've always designed Aeon knowing that people often don't have properly calibrated TV sets. So it's important that objects like the home focus box never look too bright or too dark at different brightnesses and contrasts. Ditto the transparency of the home scroller glass, though that's largely dependent on the arrival of blur effects (fingers and toes crossed).

Okey :) just wondering is it possible for me to take out that picture from an old xpr and put it in this latest or is things changed? Its probably better if i just mod it myself instead of you coding a setting just for me :P
Assuming you have the tools to unpack the Aeon xpr, just replacing the texture with one of equal size would do it.

by team blackbolt allows extraction and recompression of xprs. i use this on every build to remove the pixles from the large dvd surround as i use tilted box art from mediaicons.org as well as turning any green textures to blue :ie star ratings and progress bars. let me know if anyone would like this xpr file, that is aslong as djh doesent mind?

i alter my fullscreen.xml and includes.xml delay values to increse icon / ifo movement from 3000 to 1500 but in recent builds the reflections move over at my new rate of 1500ms but the icons still delay to 3000ms. i asume there has been a change in the xml's so could you tell me witch over xml needs to be edited.

hey djh i have a suggestion/request...
I think that if possible, while playing from the tv library, it would be nice to make the episode icon that comes up during fast forward/rewind actions match the episode icon aspect ratio instead of using the movie aspect ratio, I'm not sure if it's possible to specify though. anyhow, just a thought.
I need to make a feature request to have the TV show thumbnail available during video playback. Then you'd have the proper poster show up rather than the episode. I'm not a big fan of having the episode thumbnail show up during the episode itself, tbh.

ya, i can agree with that, episode thumb or tv show thumb doesn't make too much of a difference to me.

I thought of requesting this a while back...def makes more sense to me to have the TV poster (or at least season poster for the banner users) displayed rather than episode thumb. It looks odd having a thumb within a thumb.
can anyone help? After installing the new aeon on xbox in the mainmenu is longer the cover an trackinfo of the music it plays shown

@ djh_: have you tried to add in an unfocus option in showcase view so that the dvd image slides back and the text fades back out?
i think it would give it a more polished finish.
I've read in various places that there maybe issues with the focus/unfocus part of the skinning engine. Is that the reason maybe not a lot (if any) skins utilise it?
I experimented with a hack of PMIII & the DVD view from Backrow a few weeks back and got it to work, so if you dont want to i may have a play and see what it looks like.

Hey, a few things.
One...a feature suggestion. What about having some way of letting the user change the color of the gradient bg used in the movie slideout? You know, make it green if the fanart is green, blue, etc, by setting a rgb value...perhaps in the nfo file? IDK, just a thought.
And as an update for the fanart I'm making, I'm done through the letter "L" now (more or less). I do need to still find good pics for the movies "Lady Snowblood" and "Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels". Here's a few thumbs for some of the new gfx:

It goes without saying that it's been tried before. Two things to consider:
a) the Showcase animations are hugely sensitive and interdependent, so don't be surprised if you find yourself in a world of pain
b) part of the reason everything vanishes rather than fades is to maintain navigation speed. I'm sure you're aware of this, but just because something can be done...

Movie art isn't exclusive to Aeon (even if they are like sexual partners :nod:) so maybe a dedicated, skin-agnostic place for them is for the best. yes i think it best that we have a movie fan art thread... I know that once I start trying to find movie fan art for all of my movies, it would be nice to have a starting place to look.

I'm setting up a very simple site to handle movie backdrops, since it's a mess as it is right now. The hosting is being provided by another XBMC user. It'll hopefully be up within 24 hours. Please consider donating a bit of money if you end up using it, since bandwidth is expensive. All donations will go toward this user's medical expenses. The site will be VERY simple, but will be accessible by the scrapers if they can handle movie fan art. Perhaps spiff or someone can talk to me about this? :)

I noticed that during video playback, when you bring up the menu (with possible actions and a thumbnail of the movie poster) through 'Enter' and then pause it, a second box slides in, with the movie poster but no controls. Is this intentional? I'm just asking because the overlapping boxes looks a bit... funky, especially with the little green bar at the bottom that indicates the position. I'm setting up a very simple site to handle movie backdrops, since it's a mess as it is right now. The hosting is being provided by another XBMC user. It'll hopefully be up within 24 hours. Please consider donating a bit of money if you end up using it, since bandwidth is expensive. All donations will go toward this user's medical expenses. The site will be VERY simple, but will be accessible by the scrapers if they can handle movie fan art. Perhaps spiff or someone can talk to me about this? :)
I am also in the middle of starting a site to hold all the beautiful backdrop images of movies, games, music, pictures and weather that people have been creating.
I originally was going to have just music backdrops but there are so many movie, game etc images floating around and getting forgotten or misplaced I thought I'd include those types too.
Hopefully people will upload all the different images they have scattered about.
Mine is very simple (just using Coppermine Gallery) and I'm sure szsori's will be much better, but I already registered the domain and paid the host, so it's full steam ahead.
I'm waiting for the domain to resolve but here is a test install I put up today.

As far as Aeon goes, it would be great to have the skin use a high quality music artist backdrop pulled from the artists folder.jpg when viewing that artist's albums ... it doesn't seem like it would need any further coding from the XBMC dev team as the ability to set an artist image is already in there.

My solution is pretty simple and is JUST for movie backdrops. The goal is to make it automated with the scraper so movies will get fanart automatically. As far as overall backdrops for the main menu, I'm not touching that.
My site is pretty simple and almost done. You just enter the IMDB ID to see all of the existing backdrops for the movie. At that point you can upload a new backdrop if you want. They're limited to 1280x720 and a max of 600k, which is plenty for these (most tv ones are compressed at 75% and still only hit around 250k).
The scraper will be easy... my site is structured like this:

Unless you have some mean connections within industry PR (and they're probably useless anyway), this would basically be impossible. There just aren't decent images of 720p and above for the overwhelming majority of artists, and music collections are typically a lot more eclectic than movie ones. Cobbling together two HD Bjork backdrops is about as good as I've managed. Hardly uplifting.

I'm still wary about movie fan art however, because I'm into a lot of foreign/indie films (among the popular ones too of course) but I'm not sure I'll be able to find artwork for nearly all of my videos...anyhow i digress...

Djh I know you are a bussy man but could you preview some of the feature of Aeon assistant. I don't know how far you are or if you have decided to scrap it or something, but other might be able to add imput. However I feel like everyone is chiming in with so much it makes your head spin.

I wonder if some sort of IP restriction could be implemented whereby you only allow an image to be downloaded once a week by the same IP / only allow X number of images to be downloaded by the same IP.
I know this would cause problems for people who are stuck behind a proxy, but it would help I would have thought.

Szsori...I have IMDB .nfo tags for all of my movies. It would probably be pretty short work for me to dump my fanart and .nfo's into a file if you want, start adding them to the DB. :D

Szsori .. a scraper-friendly movie fanart site is great news .. and obviously I won't be doing a movie backdrop section :)
We'll see about the bandwidth issue .. my host states unlimited bandwidth so we'll have to see how that plays out.
The system is tag-based, like Gmail. I tried playing with a folder based layout but it was way too unwieldy as far as permissions ... this way all tags are indexed and search is really fast as long as the uploader adds proper keywords.

I'm aware of movie-xml.com, especially since he branched the code from TheTVDB and since I used to be big into the Meedio scene. The problem is that he does need to switch his site to a new host for it to be a possibility. Until he does, I don't want to touch it since moving sites as large as ours is a huge task and I simply don't have time to dedicate to helping with that.
If he does switch to a new host at some point, I'll help him add the few dozens of lines of code required to get fan art working. Keep in mind that he branched TheTVDB over 2 years ago, so he's way behind on some of the internal functions that we use. That complicates it more, but not significantly.
Anyway, I was just aiming for something that would be easily integrated with the IMDB scraper for now. I'll happily convert everything to work with his site if the situation becomes more appealing to do so.

nyways... had an (in my, and a few onlookers mind's) great idea for a feature request... thinking that the MOVIE section has a list view, so why not update it to replicate the ROLLER view on the music section... I know a lot of people are fond of the Roller view and having it in the MOVIE and maybe GAME section as well, would be absolutely great... I've noticed u've started to incorporate Uniformity between various parts of the skin... and I reckon, if ROLLER VIEW were running in most of the sections, that would be superb! For the movie section, I reckon:
- Have a DVD case Roller and extend the dark texture on the right to accomodate this...
- Instead of the Artist name being displayed, display the star rating system or the year in which the movie was released...
This is just an idea for either you or a modder... I think it'd be great...
What you think? Don't reckon it would take a masterful coder like urself too long to sort out, and I believe a lot of peops would go mental about it! L8r!

Sorry to bother you again djh, this doesn't seem like a bug since it appears in quite a few other skins. It's not really a support issue either since I'm not really having trouble per se. Right now when you sort by name, it alphabetizes all the folders before all the loose files. Let's say I have two folders to keep stuff like subtitles together: Akira and Yi Yi. I also have another single video file, Cube. With Sort By Name, it orders them as follows: Akira, Yi Yi, Cube.
But apparently XBMC has a feature called Sort By File that will organize it as follows: Akira, Cube, Yi Yi. Could you please enable that as a sorting option?

Would it be a good idea to work on an Aeon Troubleshooting guide to cut down on the number of people asking the same questions over and over, or do you think A) it's be too hard to update given the rapid development and B) people would post here anyway?
With a guide you could just tell people to RTFM, though. :) Perhaps you should just make a single page on your site with frequently asked questions. I'm sure a user would be up for putting together the questions and answers, since it's an excellent way for someone to get involved without needing programming/design experience.

Hi there. I am new on this forum, but old XBMC user. I've used 2 skins in My life. PM3 and now, aEON. But now i am testing aEON to use it as the central Media Controler on a future MacMini Media Center on my living.
BTW: Aeon is astonish ! :) So, i would like to help the team in ANY way to improve the interface more and more. It's a very nice skin and have a GREAT future for sure ! But i know that's things could be improved more, course.
I am a Graphic/3D Artist/Art Director and 3D Generalist for about 12yrs. And would like to offer my work to improve anything i can. :)
Now i am testing AEON and PLEX on a MacBook PRO, and i have some sugestions to it. I don't if they are bugs or what but i would like to report some stuff...
1- Using aEon with mouse, on POSTER form of viewing the Movies section i have a bug problem. When i move the mouse left or right the movie posters just became CRAZY, cicling and sliding in a FRENETIC speed. If i have a few movies on the director is very anoying to browse then in POSTER view, cause aEON do a "Loop" on the posters replicating then ad eternum so, if i have 2 posters for instance and move the mouse the screen became VERY crazy, with a fast scroll and i became lost. So, i think this is an strange behavior. How about to have an option to turn the replication loop, OFF on the skin settings ? Or even have a little GAP, to know when the movie posters end and starts again in a poster loop ? Maybe a KERNING parameter to put more spaces between the movie posters could be nice too...
2 - There a BUG on the "Info bar" on the botton of the screen. Sometime i put a Auto-Check for movie information on a folder and the the info bar slide up, then it became locked there, sometimes forever...And then when i use any other thing that calls another info-bar, it slide up over the old one, but both have transparency, so i have to botton bars one over another, and the text is impossible to read...
How about to do a "tab" navigator for that info bars, os just a way to stack-up bars, with a limit like 3, or 4 stacked bars... ? And a "X" to close an bar /info tab... ?
3 - The Wall View Mode looks strange for me. It's not CENTERED. is it a bug ? Or the way it's designed ? I tried it and the selected CD is always moved to the left of the screen. Anoying. :(
3a - My Aeon/Plex is not taking the already embeded ARTWORKS on the Mp3 files. I have to use the "MIDIA INFO" to take new thumbs for every album. :(

Take a luck on a mock-ups of some sugestions about the main menus : (subtle arrows on the right corner, just to tell that you are able to move up and down). I know that much stuff are buggy to do, like menu animations, but i guess that's mandatory to have any indication that we can change the menu layout moving up and down, and to have any indication of that movement and position on menu.... It's very confusing to change from the main manu to the config menu cause both has similar contents (video, images, etc...) Maybe the config strip could have a little GEAR on the right corner...An icon on any place of the screen. Something. :)

If you want, I can mirror or host the backdrops and posters for you (it's the same server that hosts XBMC BlackMarket Project, {a so far unreleased} Mirror to TheTVDB, and MovieBackDrops.com)
I can either set up a basic photo gallery site with the different categories for the backdrops and posters or give you FTP access so you can create your own site. As it's been mentioned about MBD, the upload speed isn't all that great because of the quanity of traffic, but the download speed is great.

This is probably because you're using the same backdrop. This doesn't become too much of a problem if you use a consistent 'Settings' backdrop.

I agree. These are not sugestions to implement, are just "concept ideas" to test how could the selected menu be more relevant to the eyes. The " blurred" menu behind the main strip don't exist, i was trying to give the idea of a little bar movement up and down indicating the movement of the menu bar.
Next time i do a animated mocap using After Effects. lol. :)

Are you planning on incorporating color themes of some kind? It'd be tricky, but I think if you had some way of making it so that the skin could change color with the backdrops...well, that'd be pretty cool. Prolly pretty memory-intensive tho.

Rewind and re-read. That's a mockup someone else did. In fact, it might not be entirely possible to do what's suggested there. In any case it would be a cool effect on some skin, but I'm not sure it fits Aeon all that well. Aeon has a slightly more modern industrial feel instead of a modern flashy feel.

Agreed, I think the thing I like most about Aeon is that it is slightly subdued on the "bling." It is a classy, sophisticated, skin that relies on great design and grace instead of flashy gimmicky stuff. Just my 2 cents.
No offense but I really don't think these changes fit in with the skin much. I prefer the simple look of how it is now...

I posted this in the Aeon 14 Skin Optimized For XBOX users (http://xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?p=205461#post205461) thread but it might also help someone here.
I've got everything in AEON working pretty smoothly on the XBox without any memory issues to date. When swiping left and right through the AEON menus the FreeMem bounces between 20 and 30 MB free as the background images load. CPU bounces between 25% and 33%.
I have turned off a lot of the standard server features of XBMC so they don't use any additional memory (based on something I read elsewhere). Hopefully the list of what I've turned off might help some others having memory problems (many of the features are turned on by default).
1) I'm running at 720p (System -> Video Hardware -> Choose 720p). As djh said 1080i just aint going to work.
2) Using 720p backdrops across the board from my Photeon series of abstract photographic backdrops (http://www.teirney.net/blog/2008/07/27/version-11-photeon-backgrounds-for-xbmc-aeon-skin-released/). A single image for each of the menus.
3) UPnP Server turned off (Network -> UPnP Settings -> Unselect "Autostart UPnP Client")
4) If you are connecting to a UPnP Server, then at least consider turning off the UPnP Server on the XBox (Network -> UPnP Settings -> Unselect "Enable UPnP Server")
5) Web Server turned off (Network -> Servers -> Unselect "Enable Web Server")
6) XBox Remote Server turned off (Network -> Remote Events -> Unselect "Enable Remote Events"
Basically the only thing I have left running on the XBox is the FTP Server so I can update XBMC using the T3CH builds and update the fantastic AEON skin.

Agreed, I think the thing I like most about Aeon is that it is slightly subdued on the "bling." It is a classy, sophisticated, skin that relies on great design and grace instead of flashy gimmicky stuff. Just my 2 cents.

Much as I appreciate the gesture, these guys are correct. Fine as your skills and experience no doubt are, the concepts posted are far wide of the mark in terms of "getting" what Aeon's all about. Also, I wouldn't worry about writing CONCEPT all over your suggestions or identifying them with paragraphs of big bold text. This is a forum, after all - you'd like to think people would read what you said the first time.

I kind of agree with this as well. It's not a big deal but it feels a little off somehow. I never even thought about it until reading this, so it's obviously not that bad. Is there some way of incorporating the texture/color from the main navigation bar up there?
Anyway, I'm sure people can come up with a decent list of higher priority stuff anyway. :D

Or the same transparent black/grey background that displays behind the movie plot in the Showcase view (once it slides in) using the gray text from there as well.
That may also work for the information bar that slides in from the bottom when updating the Library, Deleting Files etc. if there is enough contrast against the backdrop.

For what its worth I did some tests on a Mac mini with the Aeon Background images and it seems on a Mac at least that TIFF was the fastest format to use, faster than even BMP despite the fact they were the same (uncompressed) file size. I also tried PNG and JPG.
Fellow Mac users may find this utility http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/26732/batchreformat'em useful for providing a quick and easy way for bulk converting images.
With regards to fanart, I find currently the easiest way to add it was to copy the original JPG from the Aeon backgrounds to the folder of the movie and select it via the Info screen. Partly this was because I am confused as to where to locate it for auto use and how to name it. My movies are VIDEO_TS folders ripped from DVDs and stored on a server with the following folder structure...
/DVDs/Soylent Green (1973)/VIDEO_TS/
/DVDs/The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951)/VIDEO_TS/
Note: I am fairly clear what would be needed if I was using mpgs but not if I am using VIDEO_TS folder. By the way I am using stacking mode.
So where should I store the fanart and what should it be named for it to automatically work?

Hi all, registered yesterday after stumbling across this thread. Just wanted to intro myself quick and give a big hats off to everyone involved in this. Djh - know you're not doin it for the praise but it is amazing stuff. I read all 38 pages of the thread (at the time!moves fast) and what a great community. Love all the background stuff you're all contributing to as well.
On that point, I have been tracking down a lot of the backgrounds etc and was going to rename them all (some are just numbers, some imdb id's, etc and just wanted to see what everyones thought are on a solid naming standard for movie and tv backgrounds etc.
I was going to go with:
<movie name>-<imdb_id>-<image number>.jpg
ie die hard-tt0095016-1.jpg etc for movies
<series name>-<tvdb_id>-<image number>.jpg
ie scrubs-76156-1.jpg etc for tv
I know that imdb and tvdb id's by themselves is sort of happening but I think it good to have the name in there too, and the option of an image number might mean that when you select a show or movie, a random matching bg or slideshow might be easier to implement down the track? Like I said, I'll prob rename then upload to btorrent anyway, so if one way seems better than another just chime in.

If these are backgrounds that are just going to be used in the multiimage (ie they randomly show in the background) then knock yourself out and name them however you want. If you want them to show up as fanart then you *must* add -fanart to the end of the file name for example the one you listed above would need to be die hard-tt0095016-1-fanart.jpg and your movie would have to be named die hard-tt0095016-1.avi. That is your only option if you want fanart to show automatically. If you don't mind having to set fanart manually for every movie then again, the choice in names is up to you.
The only real advantage that I see to adding the imdb number is that it will make it easier for you to upload them to moviebackdrops.com which I strongly encourage you to do. The ability to scrape movie fanart has been added to the svn so if you upload every fanart image to moviebackdros.com then scrape your new movie you won't have to worry about maintaining fanart in your movies folder and you will only have to deal with your main backdrops folders. those are only for show at the moment .. you can turn them on in settings -> Aeon -> Feartures
select Display Showcase Media Flags
like i said that will display them but this aren't enabled yet so it will show the same 3 flags for all media regardless what kind of media it is (ie .. if its SD, 720p, 1080p will all say 720p ...)
