Cheers!
I once stumbled across the descriptions for each svn version, kind of a changelog...can't find it now. Someone have a link?
Thanks for all your hard work!
Unfortunately our changelog.exe doesn't work with the branch and the binary needs some rework to compile with the sdl sources so the only link we have is here:
http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?forum_name=xbmc-svn
Yipee! Can't wait to try the new build.
DVD playback seems to be broken (seen in Xbox forum) but we wanted to release anyway.
Hibernation/Suspend and shutdown were added in the settings and the advanced settings file knows now the tag <fullscreen> to launch XBMC in fullscreen without the command line switch.
Haha, I spent ages today learning how to compile my own build from SVN and this appears - typical.
So what's the deal with DVD/ISO playback?
A fix anytime soon?

I have a question, I have been using xbmc on the xbox for years, and I just got into XBMC for Widows about a week ago with Rev13859. On the XBOX you had to completly remove the XBMC and Replace it with the new one, but keep your userdata folder.
My Question is do I uninstall the Rev13859 and then install Rev14125 or do I install over it?
the best is always a clean install, but as long as you dont have any problems you can overwrite the old install (usually what I do on the xbox, and very seldom have any problems)

hi! thanks for the update! but i seem to be having some problems with my remote. Every press I make seems to be doubled, like when I press down it skips a row instead of going the the item below it. It might be a simple fix on my part, but I don't really know what to do. Thanks for any help. :)
Gocu,
i usually update xbox using an ftp client that supports skip list. so it updates all files except the specific *.xml i think for userdata. if you need me to give you filenames, post it here and ill figure out my skiplist.
works fine for me for years.

If we would known that it would be already fixed
Looks like the other ports have the same problem (was reported on Xbox).

the advanced settings file knows now the tag <fullscreen> to launch XBMC in fullscreen without the command line switch.if this what is asked for in this other topic-thread? => http://xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=34325
is this advancedsettings.xml (http://xbmc.org/wiki/?title=Advancedsettings.xml) only for the Windows port or should it work for XBMC on Linux and Mac OS X as well?
PS! What do you think about making it work the other way around? So that XBMC always defaults to start to fullscreen on launch (even without having an advancedsettings.xml (http://xbmc.org/wiki/?title=Advancedsettings.xml) file) and only start windowed when <fullscreen>false</fullscreen> have been set in a user created advancedsettings.xml (http://xbmc.org/wiki/?title=Advancedsettings.xml) file?
???

Is it a universal remote, or the Xbox remote? If the former, there should be a "repeat delay" setting in the configuration. Tweak that a bit and you should be golden.
Installer works like a charm, thanks man!

Nice to see the windows build working
ISO playback ok

only 1 core used
but all and all nice build and good progress

Now that the video playback issue has been resolved is there a simple fix for this release or will we have to wait for the next/build your own?

[From Changelog] 2008-07-15 14098 changed: Moved Keymap.xml, IRSSmap.xml, and Lircmap.xml to system. If the user has files in userdata/ then they will extend the files found in system. This allows you to add to these files without having to bother merging changes on updates.
Let me be sure I understand this: If I put keymap.xml in my Application Data...Userdata folder, it will override and sync with the file in the System folder, such that I can still copy my userdata folder out and paste back in for installation of new builds?

Seriously (Hitcher, please back me up) it's better to wait for another binary to be released by the team than to bother with compiling your own...go find your inline skates and enjoy the summer weather while you wait!
Bottom line: the majority of features you want already work, and the ones you're waiting for in the next build will come when they come...

My comment on repeat delay only applied to Harmony and other universal remotes...for the XBox remote and IE Suite, I don't know that there is a delay option...
Im using a Shuttleremote i got when i bought my Shuttle but is a MCE remote standard..
Im using a Shuttleremote i got when i bought my Shuttle but is a MCE remote standard..If you have IR Server 1.4.2 then open Input Service Configuration, Configure Microsoft MCE remote, tab Remote and tick "Disable automatic buttons". If you have 1.0.4.1 then you gotto go hack the registry yourself. From the IR Server Suite helpfile:MCE IR device driver improvementBy default Windows will handle most of the MCE Remote buttons, the arrow buttons, number buttons, etc ...
But I've now figured out a way to stop this behaviour ...
To handle the MCE device Windows loads a series of device drivers onto the system.
The main driver is the USB device driver, it provides access to the MCE device. Without it you can't use the device at all.
There are also a series of Human Interface Device (HID) drivers that are there to translate raw information from the USB device into remote button presses, keyboard and mouse inputs.
You can't disable the HID drivers but you can alter their settings to prevent them from acting on the button presses coming from the remote.
This process should work on all version of Windows that support the Microsoft eHome Infrared Transceiver. I've tested on Windows XP Pro and Windows Vista Home Premium and it worked on both.
However, please note that HIP, Girder and EventGhost can't use the default Windows eHome driver in Vista. On Windows XP these programs are fine, but these programs need the Replacement driver for Vista and I haven't been able to get the Replacement driver to work on 64-bit Vista yet, only 32-bit Vista.
How to ...
Load "regedit.exe" and navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\HidIr\Remotes\745a17a0-74d3-11d0-b6fe-00a0c90f57da
Then delete the keys from "CodeSetNum0" to "CodeSetNum3".
To make sure you can recover these keys easily should you want to you should save them by using the export function in the file menu.
Once the registry has been changed you will need to reboot for the change to take effect.
This same process can be applied to disable automatic keyboard handling. Just look at the other registry sections under the "Remotes" sections.
Now if you ever want to re-enable the automatic handling of the MCE Remote and MCE Keyboard you just need to put those registry keys back.
I wonder if that would also fix the fact that windows media center starts every time I press certain buttons, even though I've shut down the media center services.

Hi Goobay...I've encountered the same problem before...i did the repeat delay thing on advancedsettings.xml and I deleted the keymap.xml in the system folder...try deleting the keymap.xml first, it should be located in program files/XBMC/system/ ...hope that helps.

Somehow the demuxer get's an eof when it's supposed to play the DVD but I'm not the dvdplayer expert here.

Is there a way I can gather more information to post so we can get further into the problem?

I tried this to get the replacement MCE remote driver to work with eventghost in Vista (it works without any special tweaking in XP) but it still doesn't register any keypresses in eventghost. Do you know any other special tricks of how its working in vista (32-bit)?

Using Rev 14125, XBMC on Vista x64 SP1
Tried opening Chinese songs with Unicode ID3 tags and Big5 filenames and they refused to work... All I get for those files is "ERROR: XFILE::CFileCache::Open - failed to open source"
arial.ttf has been replaced with arialuni.ttf and the system language for Non-unicode programs has been set to Chinese (HK S.A.R)
This setup works fine for FLAC + Cue Sheets with Unicode
Does the 14125 read the Advancedsettings.xml at all? I assume it belongs in the folder Master user points to but I have tried putting it in numerous locations and none of its parameters are read. The log does not say anything about the file even if I insert errors on purpose.
Thanks for the clarification in advance,
MrZ
Advancedsettings.xml either goes in the install directory\userdata or in c:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\XBMC\UserData. It depends if you are using the -p switch when you start XBMC. Check your shortcut. -p means use the default WinXP userprofile directory.
Hi kricker!
Thanks for the response.
Exactly, without the -p it will definately read xmls in the install directory. My problem is if I put Advancedsettings.xml there it still will not read it. To avoid misstakes I have reduced it only to hold:
<advancedsettings>
<loglevel>-1</loglevel>
</advancedsettings>
Not even I can miss a typo in that short phrase (I hope)

MrZI can tell you my advancedsettings.xml file is read properly from either location. If I were you. I'd remove the -p switch and make sure it's using userdata from the install folder. Then make a obvious edit to the advancedsetting.xml file like:<fullscreen>true</fullscreen>Whihc should launch XBMC in fullscreen. Make sure your shortcut doesn't have the -fs switch.
kricker!
You are right and I'm wrong it does work without the -p. Can't get it to work with -p though but that's no problem.

I tried redownloading the installer but it didn't help. and I couldn't find it anywhere other than the link provided in this thread.
any suggestions?

No, I'm using Windows XP and I do have the right permissions to install. I even tried installing it as the administrator but with no luck
also tried installing on another computer and still it didn't work
I sent the link to a friend so he'd try it on his computer and I'll send the results later
maybe try to download it again. Sounds like the archive got broken somehow.
I have to say that im impressed how good this works on my notebook (Fujitsu-Siemens amilio pro v3205, coredual 1,66 GHz, 2 GB ram and Intel graphics) HD movies is not working of course :)

Depends on how you're launching XBMC.
The top one if it's just XBMC.exe or the bottom one if it's XBMC.exe -p

Nice work, Latest build now works on my pc... except music. For some reason this hits 100% cpu usage. Could it be looking up the cd library?
