Already been requested.... DRM pretty much nips it in the bud.

Hey everyone,

With the announcment of Sky Player & Xbox 360 integration, it got me thinking- has anyone looked into making a plugin for using this service?

It allows you to watch live TV or a whole host of back logged programs.

This sounds like something Boxee would do, but being able to watch sky tv through XBMC would be amazing :)

Surely it's pointless as you'd have to have a Sky subscription in the first place anyway?

I think you need one.... although remember, not everybody has Sky+ to record Sky, so in theory, there's still some value to this...

As far as I know... and this depends on the definition of Sky Player (there's an 'on demand' and 'live' part).

The on demand version uses MS-DRM and the live part uses Silverlight. Neither of these are cross platform, so this doesn't really add much to the case for Sky player.

Plus... finally, Sky Player is using Kontiki for content delivery (a sort of p2p delivery service)... which means the plugin would have to take all this into account..... not feasible in my opinion.
