im considering burning all my mp3 albums to cd's to have them in propper printed up box's on display. I can then play them on my rather good quality cd player. its just because people come round and want to see cd's not files ona screen

SO. is it worth converting my mp3's to audio cd? i realise it will not make the quality back to full cd, but can it make the quality worse than it it was just an mp3?

All and any conversion is loosy, ...but from MP3 to PCM/WAV (Audio-CD) you should not be able not notice a difference, (and you can't be an audiophile as you are using MP3 in the first place).

I can't understand why you or your friends would want them on CDs in printed boxes though, ...have you even tried XBMC's music library? Make sure all your MP3 files have corrent ID3 tags then try scanning in all your audio files sources into XBMC's music database and enable library mode in XBMC, you will get the cover-art on the screen with all the metadata about the album, and if you use the XBMC Lyrics when you will get the lyric on the screen as well while playing the visualization.
