Ok so here's the problem. I love xbox media center to death. Use it on a daily basis for hours. Lately I've upgraded from XP x64 to Vista Ultimate x64. Now when I try to access my computer through XBMC it's prompting for a username and password (Enter username for smb://Silent-Night/). Fine, I enter my info and it kicks back to the username screen. Hrm....here's what I've tried thus far.
1) Made sure "Full Control" share permissions were created on the folders that are shared for my primary account. Tried logging into my main account through XBMC...No go....
2) Enabled the guest account and tried guest read access to the files, no go.
3) Removed my password from my primary account and restarted to force the effect. No go.
4) Set myself as owner on all files except System Volume Informaton (Defaulted back to system for windows to be happy.) And tried again, no go.
5) Completely shut off all network security (firewalls etc...) and tried to connect repeating the steps above...no go.
6) Tried logging in as Silent-Night/Black Magix and Black Magix@Silent-Night. No go on either.
The computer and xbox ping eachother and the fact that XBMC can see the samba workgroup means that their at least communicating in some way. This appears to be a problem in the higher layers and I can't figure out where I'm missing a permission. At this point I'm completely stumped as to why it's kicking my main adminstrative account back on XBMC but not on a second computer connected to the network running linux (ubuntu). Any ideas would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance
