View Full Version : Vote for XBMC in SourceForge.net 2008 Community Choice Awards

Team-XBMC

Team-XBMC have now received the news that the XBMC media center (http://sourceforge.net/projects/xbmc/) project has been nominated as finalist in the SourceForge.net 2008 Community Choice Awards (CCA) (http://sourceforge.net/community/cca08/) in no less than seven categories. This is the third annual SourceForge CCA - in the first year XBMC won two of the categories ("best multimedia project" and "best game project"), and last year we were nominated in six categories however not enough XBMC fans voted so we did not win any catagory. So this year we like to request this to all XBMC users; please registered a user on SourceForge.net (registration is free) (http://sourceforge.net/account/register.php) and then vote for the XBMC project in one or more categories (http://sourceforge.net/awards/cca/?group_id=87054). The winning projects will be announced at the SourceForge CCA party on July 24th (2008) during OSCON at the Jupiter Hotel in Portland, Oregon (http://conferences.oreilly.com/oscon/). The prize: 'bragging rights' and the honour to display SourceForge.net CCA logo on the XBMC website.

The XBMC project has been nominated as a finalist in these categories:
- Best Project
- Most Likely to Be the Next $1B Acquisition
- Best Project for Multimedia
- Best Project for Gamers
- Most Likely to Change the World
- Most Likely to Be Ambiguously Accused of Patent Violation
- Most Likely to Get Users Sued

Note that this is the real voting to win this time, so no matter if you nominated XBMC or not please vote now.

We ask all registered SourceForge.net users (registration is free) (http://sourceforge.net/account/register.php) to submit their votes for the XBMC project here (link) (http://sourceforge.net/awards/cca/?group_id=87054), it should not take you more than five minutes and it would mean a lot to us. Everyone on Team-XBMC would love if all XBMC fans would vote for the XBMC project in all categories which you feel XBMC deserve to win, (personally, I only consider the three appropriate categories for the XBMC project to be "Best Project for Multimedia", "Most Likely to Change the World", and "Best Project").

Please show XBMC some love, submit your vote!

But I don't ever want to see a $1B Acquisition:no:

$1B split between 20-30 people sounds all good to me :p

And yeah, please vote ya'll

The more people vote, the higher the chances of winning, causing the project to get more publicity (even if we win some of the "sillier" categories such as the $1B acquisition one). More publicity means more users, more developers and thus a better and brighter future :)

Cheers,
Jonathan

What more can we do you get all XBMC fans out there to vote?
...maybe add this to your forum signature?:

I asked brokep@TPB who said he would discuss it with "the others" in TPB, this was before the weekend. I haven't been able to reach brokep since.

Will keep trying

I know you have know real control of the tc3h site as it run by a third party but information on that site still says that's a week until nomination ends.
I'm sure it gets a lot more traffic than we do so a lot of people may not know voting has started, hopefully it will be updated soon.

COME ON PEOPLE!!!!! This should be the busiest thread this week!!! 15 people have taken the time to click the vote button!! 15!!! thats pretty shamefull! You get FREE software and FREE expert help!

Show the Devs a bit respect....

Is it worth posting a reminder in every section? absolutely no excuse of missing it then?

Gamester17
2008-07-14, 18:37
15 people have taken the time to click the vote button!! 15!!! thats pretty shamefull!Just to clearify, clicking the "Yes, I voted for XBMC or other projects" is this poll is not the same as voting. You still need to register an account an SourceForge.net (http://sourceforge.net/account/register.php) and then go to vote at http://sourceforge.net/awards/cca/?group_id=87054

The poll in this forum threas is only so that we can track how many XBMC Community Forum members said that they have voted, (which at this moment is only 15, so yes shame on everyone of you who have not voted yet). Don't push it of til tomorrow, vote now!: http://sourceforge.net/awards/cca/?group_id=87054

Needless to say.... yes I have voted. Cheers.

I'd happily vote if I could. Clicking the link: http://sourceforge.net/awards/cca/?group_id=87054

Presents me with a login page which doesn't seem to work, after entering my login details it redisplays the same page with no messages etc.

I've tried logging in using the log-in link top right which gets me in, then when I go to the XBMC page: https://sourceforge.net/projects/xbmc/

Click on the Vote image: https://sourceforge.net/awards/cca/?group_id=87054&from=https%3A%2F%2Fsourceforge.net%2Fprojects%2Fxb mc%2F

LOOP
Select the categories and hit the vote button, then it takes me back to the login page: https://sourceforge.net/account/login.php?return_to=%2Fcommunity%2Fcca08-vote%3Fgroup_id%3D87054

I login again and it takes me back to the voting page, voting again keeps me in a continual loop (goto LOOP).

Any ideas?

Brian.

Works fine for me. I login with my SF credentials (you are using these, right?) and it updates the page with "sorry, but you've already voted" (obviously because I have done!)

Good luck XBMC, I'm pretty sure there are others that agree with me that I hope XBMC doesn't win some of the above catagories.

Most Likely to Be the Next $1B Acquisition
Most Likely to Be Ambiguously Accused of Patent Violation
Most Likely to Get Users Sued
