XBMC Official Merchandise Store

We are glad to announce the XBMC project's official online merchandise store (http://www.cafeshops.com/xbmc) open.

The store is currently hosted by CafePress and offers XBMC merchandise such as T-Shirt's, hooded shirts, mugs and a few other goodies, all with the official XBMC logotype and logos (http://downloads.sourceforge.net/xbmc/XBMC_official_logo_package_v1.0.zip)).

Currently the store is a small personal shop with only a few selected items however it might be upgraded later to a premium shop with a much larger selection if enough interest is shown in the store and XBMC merchandise in general, (who knows, we might even be able to publish an printed XBMC User Manual and/or Demo CD's through this store if those are made in the future). Know that the little profit we might get from this will go to support XBMC development and the projects existence, so when you purchase anything from the store you are making a small contribution, so thank you for that!

i feel you should add it right now under "support xbmc" to let it know to *many* more people!

put a banner on the page or some other kind of advertising on the home page of your site and sales will grow with speed

there's a "merchandise" link under more in the drop down menu plus there's a link to "xbmc online store" on the right under essential links,
however if someone like to volunteer to put together a small banner or two (maybe a animated gif as a picture says a thousand words)... ;)

febs
2004-07-05, 01:18
well, "merchandise" under "more" is almost hidden.
there's no need for a banner, a simple blinking link would be more than fine imho.

for stickers, a hi-res hi-quality pdf that we can print onto a sticker sheet would be good - it wouldn't bring the $ in, but it would still be good!

I don't want to be the capitalist of the group here, but you do realize you put XBMC in a nice looking box, take a nice UI like aeon, throw an HDMI out/SPIDF and a few other, make it stable and quiet and you guys will be all millionaire by the end of next year, right?

Is this still going on? Can I still get XBMC merch.?
The link still exists but it says XboxMediaCenter instead of XBMC Media Center on the cafepress website, and the activity here on this thread is less than I would expect.

XBMC Media Center T-shirts seem like they would be cool to have, it would spread the word.
Also, a PC case badge would be the effin shiznit dog!

There is an alternative shop to Cafepress in Europe called Spreadshirt and they do offer stickers in various sizes so badges and even larger case stickers could be possible.

Maybe a European XBMC dev could open up a shop there and add the stickers (and maybe some shirts and stuff) for European users. I don't think any XBMC fan is allowed to just open up a shop for the merchandise (from how I understood the Logo guidelines).

There could be a contest or something for some designs after a specific size has been selected. I played around with their flash app and it looks like we could use multiple colors and even nice shiny silver badges.

cool an official merchandise store.. but the merchandise dont go with the xbmc style they are just plain shirts, polo's, ect.. with the xbmc logo and XBMC its all about creativity among other things , is there a way to submit new and better designs or even better make a competition or something ?

joebrady
2009-06-12, 18:07
Yes, I have always thought the mechandise was rather plain compared to XBMC itself. Maybe it would pick up a bit if we added something better. We could utilize some of the designs from the LixuxTAG contest (http://xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=52039&highlight=contest&page=3).

I for one would like to see something besides white offered, alot of those designs would look good on black. The only things that I saw with color options were the womens and kids stuff. Pinks and baby blues... And please, please, can we get a real hat instead of that god forsaken truckers hat? I hate those things with a passion.

The 'cloud' poster is being used on our Linuxtag t-shirts, which I have done up - looks quite cool with white on black. On the front is just the plain XBMC text logo. I have all the PSDs of all the posters if anyone wants to work on anything - PM me for specific stuff.

Feel free to do up some new designs!

what are the require specs:

CMYK
vectors
300dpi
?

300 dpi is more than enough IMO. Vectors is good, and for t-shirts, you want as few colours as possible.

The place I got the t-shirts done up just needed the artwork printed out onto plain photocopy paper and the screens for printing are made via a photocopy process - most interesting, and they came out really nice.

The online places can take most image types - no idea what the quality of the resulting merchandise is. If you find one that makes good quality stuff for a reasonable price, give us a bell.

Cheers,
Jonathan

I've done some stuff with www.spreadshirt.net (www.spreadshirt.com for US page). Quality is very good and they have fair pricing. They support JPG/PNG/... raster format for white stuff (shirts, mugs, etc) and vector formats like Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw (for everything but necessary for colored materials). You can add a few dollars/euros to the base price to get some revenue to support development. On www.spreadshirt.net they also have stickers. I made one once for a metal case and it looks great. Could be used for Case Stickers or even larger case mod or car stickers. A competition for some nice designs could get in some nice designs for it.

I like the more easier to wear / less-geeky kindof approach of the printing!

But personally I like the stylised "xbmc" logo more, atleast the "Who's your DJ?" would look better with that one IMHO.

http://xbmc.org/media/logos/ alternate 5 I the one I refer to.

Definitely alternate logo 4 or 5. We've completely stopped using the other one, except for the daft logo in various random places on our ugly website (in case you're up to doing some more design work, hint, hint).

thanks I didn't know that, it would be more difficult to creatively work with a logo thats just a black text !!

But I will take that into consideration.

So at the end what's the official logo ??

Love that "Who's your DJ?" design!

Know that to secure the names I have now registered http://xbmc.spreadshirt.com (for USA and Canada) and http://xbmc.spreadshirt.net (for Europe) for future use.

As I understand, if we use vector designs graphics then we can have the logotype text in any (one single) color:Note:
* Save vector designs as .eps
* Save pixel designs as .jpg, .gif, .png, or .bmp
* Size of pixel designs: max. 3 MB and min. 200 dpi (buttons: 400 dpi)
* Pixel designs may not exceed 3000 x 3000 pixels

http://www.spreadshirt.com/us/US/Service/Help-1328/articleId/34
http://www.spreadshirt.com/us/US/Service/Help-1328/articleId/33

Note! Know that we are in the processes of phasing out / scrapping the old oval shaped XBMC logo, and only keeping the XBMC logotype text font type :;):

So we are only keeping this "XBMC" logotype text:
http://xbmc.org/content/media/logos/thumbs/alternate_5_logo.png (http://xbmc.org/content/media/logos/alternate_5_logo.png)

Well, and the "XBMC MEDIA CENTER" part as well (which can be moved under as well if you like)
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/xbmc/XBMC_official_logo_package_v1.0.zip

...I also like the "POWERED BY XBMC" and "XBMC MEDIA CENTER" slogans (text only) on top of each other

XBMC
MEDIA CENTER

and

POWERED BY
XBMC

...or a one liner slogans like for example "My entertainment is powered by XBMC MEDIA CENTER"

[EDIT]: PPS! Another idea would be to also allow skinners to submit their design artwork to us and we could 'host' their own T-Shirt designs on our official XBMC Merchandise Store as well, that way you can get all your XBMC apparel in one store, good idea?

I made them and my favorites are the first three, the Evolution theme i haven't quite get it right I have it in my mind but visually is still not there yet, but maybe you get the idea behind.

Evolution is about....well evolution in terms of how you manage, organize, listen and view your media before and after there was XBMC, hence the VHS tape, the cassette tape and the dvd disc.

"Good. Better. XBMC."
"I'm a media junky" (XBMC logotype underneath in small print)All cool slogans! ...I also like variations of them like "I'm a XBMC addict!" or "I'm a XBMC junky!" or "I'm a XBMC addict!", or "Videoholic!", "Movieholic", "Fanatic", "Fanboy" with the XBMC logotype text underneath in small print

"XBMC, media evolved!"
"XBMC, HTPC evolution"
or
"HTPC Evolution!" (with the XBMC logotype text underneath in small print)

"XBMC, free your media!"
"XBMC, free never tasted as good as now!"

"XBMC, escapism heaven!"
"Escapism is my religion!" (with the XBMC logotype text underneath in small print)

or why not the full text from wikipediahttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EscapismEscapism

Escapism is mental diversion by means of entertainment or recreation, as an "escape" from the perceived unpleasant aspects of daily stress. It can also be used as a term to define the actions people take to try to help relieve feelings of depression or general sadness.or partsEscapism

Escapism is mental diversion by means of entertainment or recreation, as an "escape" from the perceived unpleasant aspects of daily stress.Again with the XBMC logotype text underneath in small print.

with the "XBMC MEDIA CENTER" part as well (which can be moved under as well if you like), download:
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/xbmc/XBMC_official_logo_package_v1.0.zip

...or you could also make something that is transparent in the middle and instead have other linings similar to this example:

Transparent in the middle might work well on colored T-Shirts :;):

"Fanboy" with the XBMC logotype text underneath in small print

I like that one!

"HTPC Evolution!" (with the XBMC logotype text underneath in small print)

How about HTPC Revolution? (why not declare XBMC as revolutionary ?)

"XBMC, free your media!"
"XBMC, free never tasted as good as now!"

Doesn't this implicate that XBMC is used (mostly) for downloaded content? And is it wise to profile XBMC like that? You perhaps mean you free your media because XBMC is opensource, but other people might read something else...
