View Full Version : [RELEASE] Infinity TV Script

Heya there people,

This is the download link for the Infinity TV script. It's contents should be extracted and copied over to your XBMC/Scripts folder. Make sure that the files live inside the Infinity TV folder, as extracting them directly to XBMC/Scripts is messy and in all probability won't work.

This script provides instant access to hundreds of streaming TV channels all over the net. Let me know how you all get on with it and if anyone has any great channels that they think should be added then let me know and I will add them to the script for everyone's benefit.

This is my first foray into scripting and utilises a modified script for listening to Norsk Radio which was originally coded by EnderW.

The link for this script is....

http://myfreefilehosting.com/f/43accb5ed9_0.68MB

Enjoy... and feed back so I know how you get on with it. :-)

Wow. There's a ton of content on this script! So far all the ones that I've tried have worked except for "Live Fish TV - China." I have no idea what it is, but it sounded neat. I think that it would be great to have an ESPN channel on it. There are some channels on SOPcast or I also found this stream:http://wwitv.com/a1/b2520.asx
I'm not sure if those could be integrated, but it would be nice.
Here's a list of other sports channels too: http://wwitv.com/portal.htm?http://wwitv.com/sports_tv/

Thanks for the script!

Hi there,

XBMC seems to struggle with ASX playlists. I was however able to download the playlist and extract the real stream address from it. Below is the link for the updated script with ESPN listed as a featured channel at the top of the channel listing.

The updated script can be found at:

Enjoy!!

Just tried out this script yesterday... Everything seems to work well.. Could I request another channel add? I tried to modify the python to add it but it didn't work and makes all the other streams stop working as well.. My python skills don't appear to be manifesting themselves well.. I'm just not familiar with the language..I'll be getting acquainted with it soon though..:D
As for the channel request:
The URL is http://untvweb.com/live4.asx (UNTV - Channel 37-Phillippines)..

If it can be added my wife may actually be happy with me for once..Hehehe.

Thanks for the script...

Glad everyone's liking the script, I have added the UNTV station to it and the updated script can be found at:

http://myfreefilehosting.com/f/e3e28b99d3_0.68MB

I'll be honest in saying that I'm not 100% sure it'll work as XBMC seems to struggle with ASX files as I have mentioned. That being said, the file appears to be a raw stream as opposed to an ASX playlist on this occasion so we may get lucky and XBMC may just decide for itself what the format is and play it.

If anyone wants to help this script by finding more channels to add in a block then please do. If you list the channels in the format:

Channel name
Channel URL
<blank line>

Then I can feed them through my custom parser and convert them directly into links to go into the script. I also have a database test tool which I wrote to test every stream occasionaly to ensure as few dead channels as possible.

Glad you like what we have so far, as for categorising them?? I dunno, seems easier to me to remember the name of the channel I want to watch and find it in an alphabetical list.

Enjoy peeps!!

Infinity,

I just got the update and I appreciate the turnaround on my request..Unfortunately, atleast for me adding the asx made the whole script fail.

Absolutely, none of the channels would work.

Soo with some creative cracking I managed to find another way to get the UNTV Channel to stream.. The URL that WILL work in your script is (http://64.151.87.201/untvfromnetwork2)... After correcting it the script is back in action for me so I hope you have time to get out another update...

Also, I Hope that you don't mind if I take liberties with your script.. Whilest scraping for that corrected URL I managed to find about 1400 other streaming channels :D I doubt I'll add all of them but I'm going to add a few. I'll test them first and post them here if you want to make them official add-in's...Otherwise, it'll just be for my own enjoyment. But I'd much rather spread the wealth...

Thanks again,

FC

Duuuuuuude!

Share and enjoy... it's what the community is all about. If you want to PM me the list to add then do that and I will post an updated script. For sure the community will be glad of the extra content.. I know that I always am.. hehe

Something I have noticed about the script, the rogue channels in the lineup don't break the whole script, but rather what they DO do is prevent it from working again until you exit and come back in again after you hit a channel that doesn't work. Maybe one of the more experienced coders could suggest how we can reset the script whether the channel plays or not so that it still plays the channels that DO work after clicking one that doesn't.

If you post me in PM your raw list FC I will run all 1400 through my stream checker so that we get as clean a list as possible, with as many working streams as we can... nice work buddy!

Give me a little bit of time to alphabetize the list based country/region. There are few that don't appear to be on-line all the time, so I'll list them separately. I'm giving it once, twice, thrice over then I'll be ready to get that list out to you. Once I've cleaned it up it's all your's...

It's no hassle duder..

Sorry about the delay, I've indeed been busy...Work Schedule has changed it's taking some time to get used to it.

Just last evening I managed to clean up the data in the file that I have a little, it's close to 1600 channels.(untested I'll leave that to you and your stream checker)

I probably should've mentioned earlier, but I am actually attempting to code it as well. It's giving me an opportunity to cut my teeth on Python.:D.

So far it's going well I'm making slow progress. I planned on getting it coded then sending it to you so you could check it over for errors then maybe distribute the updated script to everyone. I'll make up a change log and plaster the default.py with comments for you..

I can't give you an exact but I have tomorrow off I may get time then and I've got plans for the weekend, but if the weather keeps me in I'll get to it quicker.

"Sometimes it helps to just show you're nutts.."

@Infinity: upload your scripts to xbmcscripts.com ;)

also if you want I can add you to the xbmc-scripting svn...

add it to addons, there's a script folder, so the installer will work.

@FC: Go for it mate, the ethos here is share and enjoy. If you want to make your own script then go for your life. The more script coders on the scene the better for all of us. If you are wanting me to add the channel streams into my script then let me have the raw channel lists in the format I mentioned before then they will go straight through my parser/stream tester.

@Blittan: Can do, will look into it later on today!! Yup, go for it and add me to the SVN. The scripts I've done so far are just uploaded to a file host which won't host the script indefinitely if there's no downloads on it.

@Nuka: Again, this is a sound idea... how do I go about it?

I'm looking into providing a big list of international radio stations next, and there's a couple of other things I'm looking at scripting too. It feels good to be able to give even a little back to the community that has given my Xbox a new lease of life and me a new hobby.

Thanks to you all for your feedback!

Just a quick note on my progress. I was finally able to get the list cleaned up so it could be added to the script.

Most channels in the list will need testing. Some will need removal, for instance the HD channel from Czech Rep. While very clear stops and locks up the box forcing a hard reboot.

With some persistance and blittan clarifying my attempt to establish a filter on the list of channels. The filter now works and all channels except the originals that infinity started the script with are filtered by country..

I would like to get a few more things tweaked and then I'll pass my changes to Infinity for him to run the list through the parser he has to clean it further. Then the added channels and improvements should be available for all..

Thanks,

FC

OK,

I'm just going to release the changes that I have made to Infinity TV. I was going to leave it up to Infinity but it appears he's busy and I don't really feel like waiting to get this out any longer...

Infinity TV script zip:
http://myfreefilehosting.com/f/53ccb0f48a_0.76MB

Changes:
* Upper left of the screen shows the channel filter by country in a label.
** Added approx 1600 channels
***
NOTE-> Some channels do not stream 24-7 and some may possibly have dead links. It's hard to tell but I've already removed a bunch that didn't cooperate with the mediaplayer.
-> The channel list I obtained is alittle under 1yr old.. Locations and time zones may determine what actually plays. So it's pot-luck my friends one daya channel may play and another it won't. I can't control that, sorry.
-> Beware of the HD channels they may lock-up the xbox.

****Channels are indeed now filtered by country except the originals they are at the top of list ..

Later, I'll try to get the Channel info off the white button to work.. If I don't start any new scripts.:nerd:

Constructive feedback will be accepted....

Enjoy,

FC

First of all thanks very much for the hard work guys, the Infinity TV script is looking really well.

Some feedback, firstly to f8lcoder I tried this version out and I could see the list of countries and scroll through, but it wouldnt let me select one for some reason no matter what button I pressed.

Also if I can ask for advice generally, I'm running XBMC using a pretty current T3CH release and opening pretty much the majority of channels in Infinity TV causes it xbox the freeze.

I get the black opening connection screen, which is shown faintly on the screen, and about half a second of video / sound from the channel before it freezes on the screen. Anyone else noticed this? I haven't made any changes to router ports, xbmc cache sizes etc - should I?

TMF Netherlands plays perfectly, I don't expect every single channel to work but it would be nice if it didn't crash cos then I have to get up and reboot it hehe

Biscuits,

I'll check into possibly why you weren't able to make a selection from the channel list.

But it's already not making much sense as I used the numeric inkeycode that the button returns when pressed. Unless the numeric button codes are different on various xbox models.

But I doubt that is the issue. I'd say your download may not have been complete or got corrupted somehow. I'm thinking the free file host site may not keep the files for very long anyway so I'll upload it again in couple days.

I just officially got married so I'm little busy now.

As far as channels locking up, channels with HD content from my altered version of the script will do that. I didn't identify all of them since it was over 1200 channels in the list and it wasn't a priority.

If my memory serves me right, while I was coding I had the media player cache nearly maxed out. I'd try adjusting this upwards from the default values. I've experienced really long loading times for the channels but if they time out or take too long it normally just sends you back to the list without locking up the xbox.

Try getting a clean copy of the script and re-installing it, adjust your video cache up max it out or nearly maxed out then adjust it downward until you experience a change in performance. Then find the sweet spot for your machine/environment. Video cache size can affect performance on plugin's too so once you change it test everything. What may work for this script may not work for plugin's especially those using veohproxy or streamplugserver.

Leave a post if you get it working and what you had to do to get it functioning for you so others can reference it if they experience the same problems.

Thanks,

FC

Are you using your remote of pad? On my remote, selecting a country or leaving 1nfinity both don't work. Pad works fine.

I have the same problem with the freezing xbox on quite a few channels e.g. in '1finity Originals' the 'Toon TV - Germany' channel.

I use;

XBMC-SVN_2008-09-01_rev15293-T3CH
Infinity TV Script June 2008
buffersize: 256, 2048, 16384

Maybe it would be a good feature to have to be able to add channels to your own favorite list.

f8lcoder

I've been keeping track of this and after the last post I have a couple observations:

When working on this script the xbox remote wasn't considered in programming the navigation. If it worked in the oringinal script I couldn't tell you why. So navigating the lists and making selections are programmed around the xbox game controller dpad and buttons.

I just did a fresh Tech install from the 9/6 build 'I think thats the date'. Anyway I was able to test a few channels including the German Toon TV channel and it worked perfectly. So I'm not sure what could be causing lock-ups on anyone elses machine other than network traffic and/or connection speed.

Something to Note - When I ran the script without Veoh proxy running in the background I had minimal if any problems. But If it was running, there were lock-ups during the caching of some ot the channels.

So when you run this script make sure you turn off the Veoh Proxy script and you may have more success.

When I get more time I'll see if there is anything else that can be done to make this script more useable.

Cheers

Indeed youre right. Lazyness on my side, after 2 times rebooting I assumed it was broken. Checked just now and it didn't lock-up the second time I tried.
I have no Veoh running.
I have my buffers at 2048 now as that seems the best for me.
Still have lock-ups one in a while.

btw it still is my fav app

nuttypro69,

I just checked and I've identified how to grab the streams from this site, I was actually thinking of making it and all of it's contents a script .

So if passing the stream to the mediaplayer will work, .asx didn't work well in the past and were removed from the channel list for InfinityTV. :sniffle:

But, if upgrades to XBMC have opened this up then I may be able to accomodate your channel additions.

I can't promise it, but when I get some free time I'll attempt it.

NuttyPro,

I managed to get the channels added to bottom of the Dom. Rep. channel list. I'm going to go ahead let it fly but I've notices that the mms streams have not exactly been loading up. This could be just because the stream was not available at the time that I tested it. I'm going to look at it some more later and attempt to cram the asx through the media player if that works then many of the channels that may not be working now can be fixed.

Anyhow, I think I only missed once channel out of the list as it had some sort of peer to peer type format and I couldn't get the page or stream to load.

So far so good, I'll try to update the navigation with remote in the future. The navigation through the channel list still requires the xbox controller.

Wasn't all too hard to do, just had to find the time to decipher the links to the streams.

Hopefully, as my python skills grow I'll be able automate the process with RegEx. But,right now I do alot manually and hard code the stream addresses.

A 'faux pas' I know, but it works "most of the time that is" and hey I'm still learning as I go so I think it's allowed.

Anyway,Like I said it was nothing. I justhope it fills the need and gives some enjoyment..

When the weather starts keeping me inside I'll devote more time to it.

Hi F8lcoder what´s this Rtmp patch i keep reading about , and if you know how to apply to xbmc running on a xbox any infor will be great thanks.

f8lcoder
2008-09-23, 17:48
From what I understand the patch has to be applied to the right location within XBMC and then XBMC has to be recompiled.

Since from what I see the SouthPark content is the only thing of interest to me that is in working order.

I'm just going to wait until it's applied to the next Tech build.

This way there will be time for more content to become available.

By the way from what I've gathered RTMP = Real Time Messaging Protocol designed for streaming media between a flash player and a server.

Sorry I can't help much more than that..

Hi F8lcoder and again thanks but one question the background is black or did i do something wrong ,also i will like to know which other plugins are most use out there .Have GREAT DAY AND WEEKEND !

Remember this belongs in Q:\scripts folder, not the plugin's folder. Just in case you put in the wrong spot.

SO, first be sure it's installed in the right location.

If your background is still black, you've either got a damaged images folder within the InfinityTV script or it's missing all together. Either way, try re-installing it. If that doesn't work grab the images folder out of the old version of the script and replace it in the new version.

Oh and sometimes it's best to just delete the old version of the script prior to installing the new one.

I have to go out for a while, so I won't be able to check the contents of the file I uploaded It may be a bad file. If it is I'll fix it later.

As far as plugin's go I only use Ninja Video with VeohProxy right now BTW there is an update to VP/python check the google code pages do a search it's been working well for me.

I plan on posting a few more scripts related to streaming TV soon if time allows.

Worked great for me FC. Thanks for your hard work on this project; I came out of lurking mode just to tell you that. I have been messing a bit with the default.py file and have been able to rearrange some of my favorites so that they come up first; obviously I'll have to recopy those next time you do an update. But as someone who has given up on cable TV and only watches local broadcast TV, this is great. CNN's feeds are usually live from what I can tell. Someday I may organize all the webcams a bit better and put some of them into my favorites too; otherwise again I appreciate your work on this project.

Greetings Temhil ;) I've been busy with other life type things so my time has been limited..

Wow, this thread still lives.

There hasn't been much chatter in here for a while so I assumed there wasn't much interest in this script anymore.

To answer your question nuttypro I'll look into those channels for you but I can't make any gaurantee's that I'll be able to get them to work for you since stream format tends to throw a wrench in the works. But I will look at it and let you know.

As far as scripts in Boxee, I don't know much about it so I can't say for sure. Technically since Boxee is built off of XBMC it could be feaseably that they could. I've read that the 66stage plugin from Boxee works in XBMC but I haven't tried it. I did look at the code and it definately looks compatible.

As time allows I'll get back to maintenance on this script.

Please feel free to PM me any known dead channels and I'll gladly remove them.

Cheers

Well I'm not familiar with ATV but I can tell you that this script is for the xbox platform only. Any other environment is probably not going to be compatible.

The coding involved in selecting any of the countries and/or channels is centered around the xbox controller and nothing else. I don't even think the xbox remote will work. It's strictly the dpad and buttons on the controller.

I don't know how detailed it will be make this work over multiple platforms but as time allows I'll poke around to see what I can do.

I tend to be a purist when coding scripts for xbmc as to me xbmc will always be the "xbox" media center. So it may take a twist of the arm to get me to take the cross-platform point of view.

But, I will atleast see what can be done and if possibl I'll make an attempt at it.

There must be a time limit to how long they host the file. I'm going to be working on this tonight to get some requested channels added. I'll set up a new link to the script when I'm finished.

I'm battling the flu right now so I'm not right as the rain yet. But I will get to it soon.

Nuttypro - I'll work on your request list tonight they'll be done before your vacation.

Well, I guess that settles it since there is still an interest in this script I'll keep it alive..

Cheers,

FC

By the way credit goes to Infinity himself for actually creating this script. I've just contributed to it after that fact.

OK here it is.

Link to file is here - : http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=9e5e1ce42460730591b20cc0d07ba4d29730d981 e6ff2bcb

I've added the requested channels that I received from NuttyPro69 and ran a quick test to see that some of the channels were good.

I have not done anything else to this script it is just an update to the channel list.

I'm looking into maybe integrating the xbox remote calls so that other users can take advantage of this script. But, I'm not rushing it when I get some time I'll start on it.

Enjoy,

FC

Just tried it and it just stays on this:

I'm running XBMCSetup-Rev16555-kricker.exe. Maybe this isn't for the Windows version? I have to force xbmc.exe closed via task manager once I access the script because nothing else will get out of it.

tbird,

You are correct this is currently an xbox only script. It hasn't been made cross-platform yet. Judging for your screen shot it'll take some relocating of the list controls when it's attempted..

Hello f8lcoder. I recently got a 16:9 HDTV and have so far managed to get everything else streaming from my Xbox to be at the proper ratio for the most part. However your add-on comes up with all the channel lists scrunched up. I can still make out the letters, however it is very difficult and time consuming. Once I get the video I want, everything still works great. Is there a hidden setting or a line I can alter in your code somewhere?

Thanks again! Yes, I am still using Infinity!

Infinity, any chance you could upload your script again? Looks like the links aren't working or are missing. Thanks.

Nevermind, I found it, sorry.

Crabsalt,

Nope there's no hidden setting for it. When I worked on it, it was prior to purchasing a wide screen TV. Honestly I haven't checked in on it in a while.

But I now have a wide screen TV and I'll see whats going on. I did have to change the settings for my PMIII to get some of the screens to look good when I got my new TV.

I can't promise any updates on this script or any of the plugin's that I've worked on very soon. I have been busy with other things and while the weather is nice I tend to enjoy being outside rather than soaking up radiation in front of the computer.

I do appreciate your interest, when I find the time I will work on this script since it's still used. There are some things that need attention..

Cheers,

FC

No problem; like I said I can manage somewhat and will probably bust into the script to arrange my favorites so they show up at the top. Most are things I see streamed from other scripts or plugins, but for some reason this one is the most reliable nearly every time.

Good work; and take care!

crabsalt,

I ran the script last night just see what the placement of the controls are, and everything looked just fine. My TV is 1080p 50" wide screen and nothing appears out of place.

I'll look at my PMIII settings and post them here for you, maybe you need to change the appearance settings of the skin to get the controls to appear in the right place.

Cheers,

FC

Huh. I have played with your script a bit and maybe I've tainted something on my end. I have browsed and enabled just about everything via skins and so forth. But what I haven't said here is that this Sharp 52" HDTV was on loan while a friend was moving/finishing up a relationship. I was more than happy to babysit while that drama played out. Found out today that it will be going to its new home soon so I'll be back to my 27" flatscreen SDTV for now. And that's fine. I've got the HDTV bug for certain now.

Regardless, please don't spend any more time on this for my behalf. I am making due. Thanks for your quick responses.

Your loyal viewer,

Crabsalt

I like the idea of this script, but I don't have an XBOX to use it.

What tips would you provide me to attempt to have a typical Microsoft MCE remote to work with this script?
With XBMC, there is a ' KeyMap.xml ' file that I had to modify to get around the XBMC interface using the remote.

You can download it using the Passion Script from here (http://www.xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=42612). Look under the Scripts section for it.

Infinity TV hasn't been updated in a while, so I'm not sure how much of it actually is working anymore though.

Good luck.
