Hi,

Perhaps this has been asked before... but I couldn't find it easily.

I would like to build a little box for the sole purpose of using XBMC. Pushing out to a 1080p LCD TV (HDMI) with digital sound.

Ideally I would like to put a blu ray drive on here as well.

Is there a thread or somewhere I can go to figure out the best mini-motherboard + nvidia card + sound card + blu-ray drive + minimum spec other hardware (hard drive size, amount of ram, CPU speed needed (quad or dual?)

Thanks,

rodalpho

Not really, no. Just get something fully supported in ubuntu, some sort of nvidia video that supports opengl 2.0 (built-in is fine), a 2.2Ghz+ C2D, and 512MB+ RAM. Not sure what benefit a bluray will give you at this point, since there's no way to play blurays in linux yet.

Yeah, saw that link at the top of the page too. Used it too. Still didn't find what I was looking for.

Thanks for adding value to this thread with your angst though... take a break maybe?

rodalpho thank you for using your post to answer all of my questions! ;)

Wow, tough... http://xbmc.org/forum/showthread.php?t=28648 Do a Shuttle XPC with a C2D 8400 and an NVIDIA 8600. Pick a model that has the PCIX on the opposite side from normal to fit the big passive video heatsink and that has SPID/F out. Boot from USB stick, laptop SATA, or a normal IDE drive. There done :P

What going to do with a BD drive?
